save the changes to form name.xml

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

1 question. i have submit a infopath form to a document library in sharepoint. now every time the user open the submitted form and work in it and submit the form to the database before the form closes it promp the user this question: do you want to save the changes to formfilename.xml?

i also set the form to closed when the submit button is pressed

can i stop this question to pop up?

is it posible to instead of clicking the "run the query" button to load the users records in the fields that the fields load automatically.

can this only be done with a role and a "set a value's field" action?

Insert image into Infopath form and save to SharePoint as PDF file

I have an InfoPath web-enabled form in MOSS 2007, that is integrated with a K2 blackpoint process for an approval workflow.

Once the form (a Purchase Order request form) has been approved in the K2 workflow process, I switch the form view to a "print-friendly" view for the requestor to view from the browser.  However, now I need to go one step further with this scenario:

1) I need to somehow insert/embed an image with the scanned-in signature of the approver (likely stored in a SP doc library) at the signature line section of my form.  Also, what are the security requirements for storing such images, but not granting all users access to these (e.g. only services accounts that need to access this for embedding into the form, etc.)?

2) Then I need to convert this final "print-friendly" view of the form (with the signature image) to a PDF document so that I can store it in SharePoint (and email it to the requestor using K2's email event capabilities).

Can anyone help me with a solution to both of these requirement, or point me to some resources for this (even 3rd party components are open-game).

Creating a "Save Button" in a browser based Form

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but I need to have the funtionality of the "Save Button", which is available and works on the tool bar, available in the form...and I can't seem figure out how to do it.I've found examples, in this forum, of how to use the "Submit Button" to act as the "Save Button", which did work for me, but only when specific basic criteria was met.The criteria that I now have is that I'm initiating a workflow to automatically start when a new item is created.  My workflow then moves the form to one of a few possible different form libraries, based on the logic in my workflow.  The different form libraries are to manage different teams of people that would have access to the Form and then that team would process the form accordingly. My specific situation: 1 - User opens a new form (works) 2 - User enters data and then submits the new form (works) 3 - Workflow is initiated and the form is moved to another form library to be worked on by a select group of people (works) 4 - The form is opened and reviewed and some changes are made to the form data by the select group of people (works) 5 - The form data in the form libary is updated (works, but only if the save button is pressed in the tool bar and then manually closes t

How to save form data to delimited file?

Save changes to a submitted form

I have an OOTB 2 step approval workflow in SP2010.  After the form is submitted the first approver opens the form, makes changes and saves them (using the save option on a non browser enabled infopath form), then approves the task.  All approvers are able to save changes except one. When the user attempts to save changes to the infopath form it defaults to Save As and opens the dialog box to local computer & networked locations. I think this may be a Windows setting? Is there a way I can change to default save action to JUST save the changes, not save as?

InfoPath 2007 Form Content Type does not save as infopath form but as xml document.

I have a couple of infopath forms deployed to sharepoint as content types. Normally, when a user creates a new document of an infopath content type, the form opens in browser mode and ,when the user fills in the form and saves the form, a new document is created in the document library with the correct icon and progid.

This was before... Now, whenever I save a form, the form submits correctly, i see the file in de document library, BUT it has the icon of an XML document, all the infopath functionality is gone and when I click the file, I get a save as dialog...

The form itself hasn't changed that much and even when I redeploy a version that worked before it still does not work. However, when I create a new doc lib and associate the malfunctioning form there, the behavior is normal and i can still reopen the saved form.

Little sidenote: I have 7 different forms that now do not work on my test machine. It used to be only one, but after redeploying them, all of them have the same problem. Now when I deployed these forms in a production environement, the same thing started happening there. So I stopped the deployment and in production there is just the newly deployed form that does not work.

I have already tried reassociating the form to the doc lib. And everything looks normal in central administration.

Any suggestions?

Infopath 2007 : can users anonymously save an uncompleted form they can later return to?

i am using infopath 2007 to create a survey that is web-enabled, and is stored in a Sharepoint Document Library. the survey is pretty lengthy and i would like to know if they can save what they've done to a certain point so they can return to it later?

the catch is that the survey should remain anonymous during that time (i know that i can have them save results in aforementioned document library, but then they can see other people's responses if they, too, save an uncompleted survey).

thank you.

Custom Form does not save values if field validation occurred

I have a custom New form that I am having problems with.  If a user inputs all fields, and the form validation doesn't catch any problems, then the list item is saved with no problems.

If one of the form fields finds a problem such as a required field that wasn't entered or an invalid name in the people picker, then after the user corrects the problem and presses save the list item will get saved without the correct values from the form fields.  The form fields still display the correct information before pressing save, but the list item that was saved does not have the same values as the form fields.

It seems that SharePoint:FormField are fine, but things such as SharePointBig SmileVDropDownList will display the data after a form error, but will no longer keep the form data and therefore it doesn't get saved.

Has anyone else had this problem?  If so then have you found a fix?

PreSaveAction is not firing for a custom save button on a Custom List Form

Hi Everybody,
I've created a custom list form using SPD. Now I want to put a custom button for saving and redirecting to another page based on a logic. I am using following script for making a custom Save button.

<input type="button" value="Submit" name="Submit" onclick="{ddwrt:GenFireServerEvent('__commit;__redirect={Confirm.aspx}')}  " />
When the user clicks this button, I am able to save the values, but the validation I have implemented in the PreSaveAction() is not getting activated. I don't understand where the problem is.

Is validation with PreSaveAction()  works only with OOB SaveButton ?

InfoPath Form Save Option before Submitting the data

I want to have a save option for user to save the inforpath form, so that later they can submit the form instead of directly submitting the form. How do I provide this feature?

Infopath 2010 browser enabled form need to save form immediately prior to submission to a different

Using SharePoint 2010 and Infopath web browser admin approved forms. I have a big form that will take serveral edits over time via collaboration between two users prior to submission. I use two form libraries say WIP for work in progress and Submitted for submitted forms. There are different access permissions to the two libraries.

When a user submits a form from the WIP library to the Submitted library I want to set a flag on the WIP form to say submitted=Yes so that if they go back into the original WIP form they cannot submit a second time with the same form. I use this flag field to set a read only view of the form.

The trouble is that when I set the flag before triggering the submit then the flag is set but the current form is not saved before it is submitted as a new form to the submitted library so the flag never gets set on the current form!

Ideally I want to force a save to the WIP form immediately prior to a submission but after I set the flag field value. I am having difficulty in finding out how to do this - any suggestions? I realise that submit is a form of save but I want to simply save the current form as part of the submit action. What is happening is that the form is submitted to the other library but THIS form is not saved. I cannot depend on the user to save using the Save button.

BDC field cannot save on Custom List Form

I'm having a problem with a Sharepoint Business Data Catalog, I have a List which are connected by BDC to a SQL field/table, and with standard sharepoint Forms it all works fine, I can lookup data in BDC and it saves correctly.

However, I need to create a Custom List Form for New Items on this list, and whenever I do this - the BDC works for lookup, but it doesnt save the data in the List when the item is created ?
(All normal fields save, but the BDC field is just empty on the new Item)

Anyone got any bright ideas? Cause I'm running out.
