GetCommonMemberships comes back empty

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have an InfoPath 2007 web-enabled form that needs to determine the current users's security group(s). GetUserProfileByName works fine but GetCommonMemberships always comes back empty. The security group for the user I am testing has an e-mail address configured. I ran a full profile import before testing. What else can I look for?

Cascading drop box holds old value if empty on auto post back

I have 3 drop boxes: 1.) Choose Operation 2.) Choose Site 3.) Choose Area. All three of them are linked to an SQL server database which has 3 tables following the same heiarchy of order. I.e. Areas belong to a Site and Sites belong to an operation. And there can only be one operation per site, or one site per area. First you select an operation, then the page auto postbacks to filter the sites. Then you pick a site and again it autopostbacks to filter the areas. The issue I am having is that when an associated operation has no sites underneight it, and therefore no areas under that, the previous values that were in the boxes are displayed and the user can't click on the boxes anymore. I think this is kind of cheap looking and would like a way to make it so the boxes are clear (i.e. nothin in them). Is there anyway to check if they are going to freeze like that and assign them blank values??Any suggestions on this issue would be greatly appreciated!-Jordan

Post back puzzle

Hi, I have a website where the user makes a selection from a combo box and it then fills a couple text boxes with text based upon the selection. I'm sure as you know it could take a second for the text to appear in the text box due to the post back. I know there is no way to make it instantanious, so what I would like to do it fill the text box with somthing like "Loading Info..." so the user does not type in it while the information is loading.

If you would like to see what I mean please go to this page: www.epiclinks.com/create.aspx and mess around with the combo boxes and You'll see what I mean.

What I would like to do is have it do a post back to write "Loading Info..." and then do another post back to fill it in based upon their selection. How would I do this?

I'm up for anything, so if you have a better solution than that please let me know.

Thanks.

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

Dear All i have created one simple service

like this

namespace WcfService2
{
        public class Service1 : IService1
    {
        public string ShowEmpName(string strFirstName, string strLastName)
        {
            return strFirstName + strLastName;
        }
    }
}

after executing in .net command promt i got 2 files

service.cs & output.config

after that i create one class file like this

namespace WcfService2
{
    public class clientcs
    {

        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            Service1Client client = new Service1Client();
            string strResult = client.ShowEmpName("Pradeep", "Deokar");

Empty template support for GridView

Just add the following to support the empty text in the GridView.

protected override void RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
	if (Extender.AdapterEnabled)
	{
		GridView gridView = Control as GridView;
		if (gridView != null)
		{
			if ((gridView.Rows.Count == 0) && !String.IsNullOrEmpty(gridView.EmptyDataText))
			{
				writer.WriteLine();
				writer.WriteBeginTag("div");
				writer.WriteAttribute("class", "AspNet-GridView-Empty");
				writer.Write(HtmlTextWriter.TagRightChar);
				writer.WriteLine();
				writer.WriteLine(gridView.EmptyDataText);
				writer.WriteEndTag("div");
				return;
			}

Example of tag to be added to the css

.NiceGridView .AspNet-GridView div.AspNet-GridView-Empty
{
	border-width: 1px;
	border-style: solid;
	border-color: #

Editor's Note: Back to the Future

As we head into the cold winter months, we've got great content to keep you warm! You might wonder why I started this Editor's Note with such a tired intro, but we have a reason. We're covering a lot of fresh, exciting new material this month, and we didn't want to upstage the good news.

Editor's Note: Back to Basics in .NET

Sometimes progress seems to move more quickly than time. Sometimes time seems to fly in the face of progress. What are we talking about? Has the summer heat finally made us lose our minds? Don't be silly! Just because this has been the hottest summer in New York City since 2001 doesn't mean we're not thinking straight.

Add an empty line in Gridview on specific dayofweek

Hey all,

Havin quite a bit of trouble with this one.  I have a bunch of days that I worked in my database...mostly monday-friday and some saturdays.  What I want the gridview to do is add an empty line between each sunday and monday so that it seperates out my work weeks and makes it easier to read in the gridview.  I got some help here a few days ago on how to clone the db etc and I have all that working properly but I can't seem to wrap my head around how to do add these empty lines in the proper spots.  Here is my code so far:

private DataTable AddEmptyRow()
    {
        DataTable originalDataTable = GetItems();
        DataTable newDataTable = originalDataTable.Clone();
        DateTime testdate = Convert.ToDateTime("7/20/2010");

            for (int i = 0; i < originalDataTable.Rows.Count; i++)
            {
                DayOfWeek day = testdate.DayOfWeek;

                if (day == DayOfWeek.Sunday)
                {
                    DataRow newDataRow = newDataTable.NewRow();
                    newDataTable.Rows.Add(newDataRow);
                    newDataTable.ImportRow(originalDataTable.Rows[i]);

                }
                else
                {
                    newDataTable.ImportRow(originalDataTable.Rows[i]);
                }

Empty Website Data Source windown

Hi all,

I am Visual Web Developer user and facing a problem when I am creating a local report (.rdlc) file.

I am using Business objects as the Data Source for this report. It was working perfectly until all the items in the Website Data Source window suddenly "disappeared". The "Add New Data Source" button on this window is also disabled. Now the window is just like a blank box only. And I can't continue working with the report file like this...

I have tried undoing what I did before but it does not help at all...

Any reason for this to happen? There is no sign or something at least indicating what is wrong.

Please help.

Thanks

 ps: found a similar thread in this forum but not solved
