SQL SERVER 2005 Analaysis Services -> KPI -> MOSS 2007. Connection Timed Out

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am using SharePoint 2007 and trying to set up some KPIs in Executive Dashboard.
I have an ODC uploaded to my document library which has been connected to analysis
services cube which also has some kpi's. When i use the ODC file to connect to analysis
services to retrieve the KPI they don't seem to appear under ALL KPI'S and i also get an

This data connection does not use encryption for the communication with the SQL Server
2005 Analysis Services server. It is recommended to enable encryption for the SQL Server
2005 Analysis Services server to help prevent unauthorized users from viewing this information.

The connection either timed out or was lost.

The same works connection file works in Excel.

Sql server Report services integration with moss 2007 giving hard time.

Hey guys, I have 2 servers  in seperate domain one for database and other for moss 2007. SERVER 1 :     AD,DNS,SMTP,SQL SERVER 2005 sp3 .... SERVER 2:    MOSS 2007 APPLICATION SERVER with sp2 and october cumilative updates applied. i have even installed NDP20-KB913384-X86.exe hot fix for .net framework 2.0 access voilation error. In CA my server 2 version is When i installed sql server 2005 on server 1 during installtion for report server i choosed install but do not configure. Now I decided to integrate the sql server report services into sharepoint and did some research and found some articles on msdn which says in order to integrate the report services into sharepoint i need to have a minimal install of moss 2007 on server hosting report services (correct me if i am wrong). since i have only 2 servers i decided to install the minimal installation of moss 2007 on my server 1 ( Web front end only ). Here are the steps i followed for it Installed .NET framework 3.0 Installed moss 2007 sp2 Installed october cumuilative update for wss then same for moss 2007. Installed .net framework 2.0 NDP20-KB913384-X86.exe hot fix. and then ran the psconfig from command line as psconfig -cmd configdb -connect -server <SQLServerName> -database SharePoint_Config_ <dbname> -user <domainusername> -password <passw

Setup to access moss 2007 externally when a proxy server is enabled on the internet connection

Does anyone know what setup is required to allow an internet connection with a proxy server enabled to authenticate properly with moss 2007?

The credentials dont get accepted at the moment and the screen goes blank (white) after the three attempts. I gather this has something to do with NTLM not being allowed throguh the proxy server which is the authentication method we have used at the moment.

SQL Server Integration Services 2005 x64 (DTEXEC.EXE) cannot recognise a custom "Connection Manager"

I have built a custom SSIS component for connecting to SQL Reporting Services in SSIS - including a custom data source and custom connection.

It works fine using 32bit DTEXEC and dtsdebughost, but I cannot get it to load in a 64bit environment.

Initialy I was compiling the dlls as MSIL (target=any), then I recompiled specifically targetting x64 (copying the dlls to the 64bit location and deploying to the GAC), just to see whether the problem was because of using an MSIL binary.

The 32bit version works as expected - are there any additional registration steps required for a 64bit Connection manager beyond copying to the /connections directory and installing  into the GAC?

The output from DTSEXEC:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn>DTExec.exe /f "e:\temp\SSISCus
tomADComponent\TestSSISSolution\Integration Services Project1\Package.dtsx"

Kerberos between MOSS 2007 and SSAS 2005

I realize this is probably going to be one of those vague questions that I am not going to get much help on here, but I thought I'd give this a shot before we go the MS Incident route on monday.

We have tried to setup Kerberos between MOSS 2007 AND SSAS 2005 to no avail.  We have been through the knowledge base articles outlining the setup multiple times with all the experts on MOSS and Security here where I work.  We've used other materials we have on kerberos here.  But the end result is that the double hop is not happening.  We are trying to connect three ways: excel services, ssrs 2005 in integrated mode, and Sharepoint KPI's (using analysis services).  In every case the connection is not happening.

Other details are that the ssrs integrated mode seems to be setup right because I do get a report (albiet all it has is a connection error message).  Excel services works fine if I use the unattended service account, but when I switch the odc file to windows (should cause kerberos to kick in) it fails.  When I try to add a kpi to the kpi list it can't retrieve a list of kpi's from ssas.

In all cases I am the user trying to perform these operations, and I have total access to the cube -- I'm the developer.  I have no problems connecting to the cube directly through excel, so the security at that end passes t

VS Studio WorkFlow Failed on Start in MOSS 2007 ON Windows Server 2008 64 Bit

I have created a sequential sharepoint workflow in WSP Builder in my Sharepoint Server and Deployed it.

But the workflows says Failed on start and retrying ans stops there forever says couldn't start the workflow.

I repaired .NET Framework 3.5sp1 installed

 tried this

 1. I tried again, in C Prompt:  Lodctr "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"  it says initiation file cannot be found

2   i again tried this C prompt Lodctr /R "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"

it says reloaded  from the system restored

i am still getting the same error.

When i manually go to my  C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation i can see a folder for SQL that's it nothing more than that..

I dont know what is happening i am trying it from 2 days and still no solution.

any ideas would be real great help for me.

My system is 64 bit , Window server 2008, MOSS SP2, Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.

Attempting to install a Reporting Services for MOSS 2007

I am tasked with writing reports for existing MOSS 2007, for that i am doing a test installation and test connection to a test moss server (copy of the main one)

So, i have a already set and running MOSS 2007. I am following theese tutorials

But in my case, i have only two machines - one with main site moss and one with reporting services and sql for reporting services.

So far, i have installed SQL server, installed moss and reporting services on the reporting services machine.

I joined my moss into the existing farm successfully.

I've set up reporting services according to the tutorial (Except i use an account provided by test server administrator, which has all rights granted, since we dont bother with least privellege here, not a very big company...)

But when i check the /reportingservices page i see an error (its in russian) that teh server is wrongly configured. rsServerConfigurationError is the kind of error.

The tutorial said that i should see a blank page at this point. I will continue tutorial futher tomorrow (work day ends now

SQL Server 2008/MOSS 2007 Reporting Nightmares

I am having issues of the Reporting services kind...I have 2 issues in regards to executing rdl report files (excel reports work fine) when they're read through sharepoint reporting.I'll give you a rundown of the components and layout I'm using first of all. I'm going to put in as much information as I can find, so if you see things that are irrelevant it's just because I want to dump as much as I can incase it tweaks someones brain. FYI I have rebooted the computers and IIS many, many times.Servers:Both of the machines below are VMs on Xenserver. We run on a /23 network for these servers. The domain functional level is Windows 2000 mixed (yeah, I know). Devsp40: devsp40 is a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Enterprise edition x64 server (winver 5.2 R2 Build 3790.srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710 : Service Pack 2) running MOSS 2007 Enterprise SP2 and WSS 3.0 sp2 (it recommended I install that) x64. I extracted the install files and put the updates in the update folder for installation. The URL is not valid error while publishing InfoPath form to MOSS 2007 server

Hi All,   When I try to publish the form onto a SharePoint Team site it throws the error: The following URL is not valid : http://tcs037288:6543/sites/projectmanagement   I have checked the comaptibility, trust and everything looks fine. Also, I tried to upload this template from Central Admin but there it is failing with browser-compatibility errors.       Regards,

Install MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

An install of MOSS 2007 and ProClartity 6.3 (PAS6.3) on the same Microsoft Windows 2003 Server seems to be problematic. MOSS 2007 creates a default website and stops the normal default website. As soon as PAS 6.3 is installed it installs to this stopped default website. How can I overcome this issue?

Upgrade from MOSS 2007 Trial to Sharepoint Server 2010

I have a client who setup MOSS 2007 Trial and are coming up on the expiration.  Instead of buying a key for MOSS 2007 they purchased Sharepoint 2010.  I'm having some problems upgrading because its the trial.  What are my options for upgrading/migrating over to Sharepoitn 2010?

MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010 Hybrid Upgrade Approach on Windows Server 2003 x64

There's some guidance circulating about upgrading to 2010 with a mix of In-Place and Database Attach upgrade methods. My Central Admin and SharePoint Web App are on a 64 bit server, but it's running on Windows server 2003 x64 and not on Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2. SharePoint Team Blog says Server 2008 or 2008 R2 is required for SP2010. If I want to do the hybrid upgrade approach, is it possible to first upgrade the OS to Server 2008 R2 on the server where my Central Admin and SP Web App runs?  Or will this break MOSS 2007?
