Issue with Excel and Word Export - SSRS 2008

Hi there,

          I have created fairy simple report having a table in body section and Header, Footer. I have set the Report Properties

Orientation - Landscape

Paper Size - Custom

Width - 11in & Height - 8 in

Margins - Left 0.25 in , Right 0.25 in, Top 0.5 in, Botton 0.5 in

Issue NO 1: When i export the report to Excel, it takes margin as Left 0.75 in , Right 0.75 in, Top 1 in, Botton 1 in, because of this some part of my Report is cut. what should i do to keep margins of Excel as per margins set in RDL.

Issue No 2: In Footer excel shows Page 1 of 1 for all the pages

Expression used :

=

"Page" & Globals!PageNumber & " of " & Globals!TotalPages;

Issue No 3: when i export the Report to word, it does not consider landscape and show only middle part of report, cut rest of the report data.

SSRS 2008 Export to PDF fails for large data with System.Exception: Parameter is not valid

Hi, We are working on Range Bar Chart using SSRS 2008. The report has huge data. It is properly displaying the data, but when we tried to export to pdf it is failing with the following exception. Exporting to excel works fine. Also if the report has small/medium data it is property exporting to PDF. It is failing only in case of huge data (we have custom page size of 28" X 14"). Of course the report has lot of expressions we used to customize the colors/text as per our requirements.   Server Error in '/Reports_SQLDEV2008' Application. Parameter is not valid. SSRS 2008 Conditional Column Visibility Whitespace Issue

Hi Everyone,I am using IIF statements to show/hide tablix columns based upon a parameter value. These statements are used as expressions in the visibility properties for the columns.If the parameter value is one that causes the column to be hidden, the coulmn does not appear on the report, but there is whitespace in its place.I have used this functionality very frequently in SSRS 2005 without the whitespace issue. The 2005 report automagically closed this whitespace up by moving the column to the right of the hidden one to now be adjacent to the column to the left of the hidden one at rendering. This is what i need to happen now in 2008.Has anyone else experienced this? If so, would you please share your solution? I am getting extremely frustrated by this...Thanks!!

ssrs 2008 export to word 2010

Hello,

I am having an issue with the header on an rdl file (ssrs 2008) when I export to word 2010.  The header gets cut off at the top of the page (about .5 inch).  But when I export to a PDF file it is fine.  If all our users exported only to pdf this would not be an issue, but unfortunately our users use both word and pdf to print out the reports.

Thanks

Issue with multi valued parameters in SSRS using Oracle data source

Hi All,

I have a dataset which is getting data from oracle datasource and my Dataset query expression is

="select To_Char(Time_Stamp,'Month') as Month, Node_Name as Device,Connection,MSNAME,Monitor,Avg as Average,Max as Maximum FROM OracleDataVW where ((monitor='X' and msname in ('Y')) or (MONITOR = 'CPU Utilization' AND MSNAME = 'utilization')) and TO_Char(Time_Stamp,'Mon YYYY') in  ('"+ Join(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,",") +"')"

My parameter is multiValued parameter. The above query is working good if i select one value,however if select more than one value or all it is not giving me the data. I tried to put Ltrim and Rtrim in Join but it is giving me another syntax error.

Please help me with this

I am new to SSRS. I have a report with a pie chart . When I export the report in excel format, pie chart is displayed as picture. I want it to be displayed as editable pie chart with data.

The requirement is, if user want to change the data in excel sheet after exporting, changes should reflect in pie chart of that excel sheet.

SSRS 08 SP2 - Export to Word places the Footer 0.5" from the bottom

I am using SSRS 08 SP2.  I have a report that has top and bottom margins of 0.25".  This report also has a page header and footer.  When I export the report to Word, the page margin settings from the report export correctly to Word, BUT the footer is displayed 0.5" from the bottom and the header is displayed 0.5" from the top, so the document appears to have a .75" margin.  This can be edited in the Word document by clicking "Edit Footer" and then going to the design tab and changing the "Header from Top" and "Footer from Bottom" settings manually.  However, is there any way to change the report so it exports to Word with the correct margins automatically?  My users don't want to edit the report manually each time it is generated.

Also, this is not an issue when exported to PDF.  The margins are also not an issue if the page footer and header are removed and the report is exported to Word.  It only occurs with a report with page headers/footers that is exported to Word.  However, in my current project, it is not an option to use PDF and I cannot remove the page header/footer.

issue with excel data column

hello,

i have a excel sheet (excel 2003) and one of the column doesn't have value in all the rows. some of the rows have value and it is integer. when i use this sheet to import, in external column, it is showing data type as unicode string, i manually changed the data type of output column to different integer types but it doesn't shows any data.

if i go back to excel sheet, change the numeric value into text (add quote next to number '999999 instead 99999) it shows me the value. what is the best method to work with this issue.

one thing is for sure, if this column will have value that will be always integer.

any help,

thanks,

p

Data source not found issue in subscribed report (subscribed in ssrs 2005) , with shared data source

Recently we have upgraded from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008. Following is the issue am facing in some reports in SSRS 2008. More details are below. Any solution/ cause for the issue would be of great help.

 1) Reports having issue are the ones which were deployed in SSRS 2005 through SUBSCRIPTION (Listed under My Subscriptions) and now tried to view in SSRS 2008.

2) The reports use a shared data source with name ‘Test Center’

3) After upgrading to 2008 and when we try to open the report data source not found error is thrown. “An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. The data source ‘Test_Center’ cannot be found". Why does it have ‘_’ added in the data source name !!

4) When we go to the report Properties – Data sources and check the path of the shared data source, the path is correct and the data source do exists in the path.

5) If we go to report Properties – General – Report Definition – select Edit and save the RDL. Immediately select Update and browse the saved RDL and upload. The report works fine. However the data source reference still remains same.

6) Also if we deploy a report fresh referring the same data source, that too runs fine with no issues.

Can Report Builder mimic something like MS Word's "Column" formatting with a lot of table data?

Greetings,

I want to make a report that shows the sign-in of a list of people. There will be anywhere from 40-200 people signing in per day. I need to print this data. The columns in the row are small: [firstname, lastname, id number].

What I would like to do is have 2-3 mega-columns, which each "mega"-column contains [firstname, lastname, id number]. I'm using the phrase mega-column to distinguish from a normal column in the context of a table.

Is that possible with report builder? My production platform is IIS7.5 with ASP.NET 4 and MVC3. I am planning on generating PDFs for the user to print. However, right now it looks simpler to just format html with stylesheets and have that print.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

        {
            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
            {
                // Html Encode the cells
            }

        }

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!
