I am using SQL 2008 but I am connected to a SQL 2005 server.  I have created a SSIS package in BIDS and now want to store it in the SQL Server agent on the server. However I get an error message telling the newer version (DTSX) will not work on that server and it wont let me store it.

I am not sure if it is as easy as saving or converting the file to DTSX then saving to the server?  If so how (or even should I) convet the DTSX back to a DTS file?  Can this be done?  Thanks

Can I Deploy only ONE dtsx (instead of all) using DeploymentManifest

Hello, Suppose my solution has multiple dtsx file and the Deployment utility will generate the manifest file with all dtsx file in that solution and the manifest will deploy all packages. Instead of that Can I instruct manifest to deploy only one package (which I wanted to deploy) instead of deploying all? Thanks, Prabhat

Need Best Practices for SSI packages (dtsx-files + ONE config)

Please advice hot to keep connection string for many packages at one place. Idea is to have one .dtsConfig-file for each iteas is not acceptable. DEV, TEST and PROD - different virtual computers. Each one can have it's own config-file lying in one and the same folder (c:\bi\configs\)

SSIS "Save copy of Package.dtsx as" is not available

Hello,I had previously upgraded my Visual Studios to 2008 Pro, and have just upgraded to SQL Management Studio 2008.  I can create/edit/upgrade packages using 2008, but when I attempt to put them on the server there is no File > "Save copy of Package.dtsx as" option available.  The only options are Save, Save as, and Save All.  Any ideas?

Variable value within SQL Server table Configuration is not being updated within load of DTSX packag

I am probably missing something obvious here; -
I have created a package with a variable named; - ServerName and a value of 'KIERAN-PC'
I exported this variable as an SSIS configuration within a SQL Server table

I noticed the following record appeared within the SQL Server configuration table.

0xC0011008 when deploying a SQL2005 .dtsx package after modifying with XMLDocument

I am making an installer to deploy our SSIS packages for our customers so they could run an install sheild type project.  I need to change datasources in the package depending on our customer.  So, I made a .NET app that uses XML.XPath to parse the dtsx package and update the datasources with their server and databases.  The problem is when I do XML.XMLDocument.Save() it reformats the XML, to me is seems only a whitespace formatting.  This is fine for SQL 2008 packages but SQL 2005 dtutil.exe chokes with the following error on deployment:

Could not load package "ProcessCubes.dtsx" because of error 0xC0011008.
Description: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading f
rom XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem
because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be sto
red.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.

Thanx, Adam

BIDS Error loading 'Package.dtsx' in 2008

So everything was working grand. I had both SQL2005 and 2008 installed and were working together just fine. Then I installed 2008R2. And everything was still fine minus the fact that I couldn't run anything with the dtexecui.

I have 2 computers that mirror each other in what's installed on them. SQL2005/2008/R2 were installed on both of them. Then when I started having package issues, I uninstalled R2.

Computer A works fine. After I uninstalled R2, I reinstalled the components from the sql2008 disk and packages work/open/run with dtexec/ui

On Computer B (which is the more important one of course) I get this error when trying to open a package (in bids).

Error    4    Error loading 'Package.dtsx' : Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSPackageSigning100' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'..

And then it gives me the little red x in the right corner.

I tried re-registering everything based on this post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IE/sqlkjsetupandupgrade/thread/5ed7480b-2ca5-48de-bd3b-4b3752237c31 and that didn't work.

Then I uninstalled SQL2008, reinstalled, applied SP1, it still didn't work. Then I re-registered things again and it still d

Edited maintenance plan as dtsx now log files don't work

Hi all - any help would be appreciated

We created a standard maintainance plan via MS management with logging to text files. - working fine

I added a custom connection to a folder for manual backup of all ssis packages - Manage Connections no longer works via MS.

Imported the Maintplan into VS Solution - Edited connections and turned on SQL server logging

imported back into Integration services (MSDB/MaintPlans) - Log files are no longer being created.

Checked the "Reporting Task for subplan-{CEF4A469-AD4E-4762-B8F7-C3598E732AEE}" - it will not run in VS. and failed in the overnight job

Any ideas?

Error loading dtsx: The connection is not found.

We have several SSIS packages that have been running fine.  The last time they changed were on 01/30/2009.

We're using package configurations pointing to a SQL server table (sql 2005).  The packages run from one clustered computer, which has a default instance of sql server enterprice on 64-bit machine, the connection is to another clustered box, which has a named instance of sql server.  All of a sudden we started getting "Error loading dtsx: The connection is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found."
The server team swears nothing has changed.  I'm at a loss.  When I open the package on the server in BIDS, still get same error.  I keep having to re-add the connection and save.  If I re-open it gives the same errors all over again.  All our SSIS packages are stored on the file system, protection-level is "don't save sensitive".

Table entry for this connection is:  ConfiguredValue = "Data Source=HQESQL4\HQESQL4;Initial Catalog=ETL temp rep;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;", PackagePath = "\Package.Connections[ETL temp rep 4 Database].Properties[ConnectionString]"

job fails when running a dtsx package

hi all,

I am trying to solve the following problem: I have an SSIS package developed with VS2008 that simply dumps a text file into a table.
The file is on a network.

1. From the VS 2008, running the project doesn't give any errors - it fills the table OK.
2. I added the dtsx package to the Data Collector folder under Stored Packages/MSDB - I executed the package from there, again NO ERROR.
3. I created a job and added one step that is the dtsx package - it fails saying The file name "\\myFileServer\myData\myFolder\H29102010.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.  End Error  Error: 2010-10-29 10:03:11.83     Code: 0xC001401D     Source: myJOB      Description: Connection "c1" failed validation.  End Error  Error: 2010-10-29 10:03:11.84     Code: 0xC001401E     Source: myJOB Connection manager "c1"

The SSIS service is not running under NT ADMIN\Network Service but I changed to an account that can read/write to the above network location.
Also the package has been saved with password encryption (the user key encryption would raise erorrs, too).

What I can't understand is why would the packa
