Inherited Page class type confusion

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I have a single top-level window that holds a single object--a Page. I want the main window to resize based on the client area size (i.e., the Page size). I am doing this by having the main window resize property SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight".

My Page definitions:
    public class PageHelper {
        static public PageWelcome oPageWelcome = new PageWelcome();
        static public PageHelp1 oPageHelp1 = new PageHelp1();
        static public PageHelp2 oPageHelp2 = new PageHelp2();

If the user resizes the window, it should be easy enough adjust the size of the content Page (I haven't written the code yet). But what do I do when the user goes to a new page after resizing the window? It seems that I can either (1) resize all the pages when the user resizes the window, even the ones that are not active :(, or (2) I can make sure the new page is the right size when the user tries to go to it. :)  But I am having trouble with the latter approach.

I made my own Navigate function I call ACNavigateToPage which I want to call instead of calling Navigate when the user wants to go to a different page.

    public partial class WindowMain : NavigationWindow {

spmetal generated class and content type (for page layout) retrieve problem

I'm working with a console application to generate my sites and subsites (hierarchy). And i've got a problem with a generated spmetal class.

this doesn't work:

How to change the default page base class?

I've tried setting the <pages pageBaseType="DynamicWebPage" /> value in web.config, but when I response.write out the page type, I'm still getting Microsoft.WebPages.WebPage.

I'm simply trying to sub-class WebPage and add some additional functionality such as a dynamic PageData dictionary similar to Phil Haack's dynamic ViewData dictionary.

Class which contains an array of objects of type "Class2"

1  Partial Class _Default
2  Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

3 Public Function Ohjoy(ByVal X As Integer) As Integer
4 Dim theClass As New Class1 '= New Class1()
5    theClass.ReSize(0)
6    theClass.myBaby(0).GetName(0) = "Hello" 'Property Chars is read only'
7    Return 1
8 End Function
I have a first class named "Class1". I have a second class named "Class2" Class2, is a member of class 1,
and is implemented as an array of objects of type Class 2.

If I try and call the Accessor GetName() my hard coded value "Hello" in my accessor is not returned? Only
an alpha character like "T"

Also if I try and assigne a value using the setter GetName() it does not work, and the compiler gives me
an error message "property Chars is ReadOnly? Does anyone know what is wrong in my code? Line 6 above

SharePoint 2007 - Consolidating everything as feature into WSP [Content Type, Page Layout, Pages, Ma

Hello –

Overview – We are building a Mobile Web Site using SharePoint 2007. The big screen site has been already built and we need to integrate the mobile site into same site collection of big screen –

·         The Mobile site will use the existing content types of existing big screen site

·         We will build a new custom Master page

The type of page you have requested is not served

I am trying to do maintenance on an existing web site.  I have loaded Visual Studio 2005 on a machine that already has IIS version 6 installed.

The site uses  only classic ASP pages (no aspx).

When I attempt to run the site from within VS, the browser opens to "http://localhost:1647/yourDev/yourpage.asp" rather than the expected "http://localhost/yourDev/yourpage.asp".  This error message displays:

Server Error in '/yourDev' Application.

"The base class includes the field 'WebUserControl1', but its type (common_WebUserControl) is not

I tried to convert a project from ASP.NET 1.1 to 2.0 and found one big problem which stops the whole process.

An .aspx page from the subfolder "admin" includes a user control from the subfolder "common". Both subfolders ("admin" and "common" are in the root).

- admin
-- aspx page
- common
-- user control

The page works well when started from Visual Studio, but when the project is precompiled for deployment, the next error occurs:

"The base class includes the field 'WebUserControl1', but its type (common_WebUserControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.common_webusercontrol_ascx)"

I tried to use "Reference" in the .aspx page, but that doesn't work.

Does anybody know any workaround for this?

Create buttons for "new item" which create a new page of a specific content type

We have a Pages library (wiki) which supports a few content types (and page layout associated). We want to enable users to click a button for example of "new custom enterprise wiki page" - so a new page of content type article will be open in edit mode. Can someone help how to develop? (it has to mimic the behavior that happens when user creates new page from the Ribbon or Site actions and has to choose the content type, it also has to keep the new page in edit mode and not just create it).

Unable to enter the product key in the Convert License Type page (textbox is read-only)

We installed both WSS and MOSS SP2 and had planned to follow the manual fix for the known issue that the patch unexpectedly activates a trial expiration.  However, the textbox to enter the product key is read-only.  We have tried accessing this page using the normal administrator credentials as well as the farm account; no success.The SP2 issue and manual fix is detailed here, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971620We were able to experience this problem on a farm running the Feb 2007 cummulative patch (version so it's not related to the SP.  But running the SP increasing the need to find the fix.Any help is appreciated,J. The type '' exists in both '' and ''

For some reason though it appears that one of my class files (_common.cs - in the App_Code directory) is being included in the WAP .dll file as well as when it compiles the App_Code at runtime.error CS0433: The type 'inlinehockey._common' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\25321638\9b5c4b00\assembly\dl3\3657f4e6\cd91aef5_4d5cc601\inlinehockey.DLL' and 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\25321638\9b5c4b00\App_Code.xad_ajc1.dll'  The error was not knowing what dll to use for the type when you get the CS0433 error.How can I get round this error?ThanksJeremy Thakewww.made4the.net

Calling a method with a class object as parameter data type.

   [WebMethod]    public string GetInfo(Customer inCust)    {        // Code in here    } I have a web service that resides on a remote server. I want to call a public method of theweb service named  "GetInfo". The method is shown above. The web service method expects a class object oftype "Customer". What I did to create a Customer object was to define in my asp.net project my own class named "Customer" which is exactlythe same as the class that belongs to the web service project on the remote server. I then created an instance of Customerand tried to call the web service passing in an object of type customer : my.Service ws = new my.Service(); // Get web service connectionCustomer aCustomer = new Customer();aCustomer.Initialize();ws.GetInfo(aCustomer) // call web service passing in a Customer object The problem is that the compiler gives me the following error: Value of type '_Default.Customer' cannot be converted to 'ws.Class1'. Here Default is refering to my Default.aspx.cs code. Why is this? Do I need to Cast my "aCustomer" class object to a type ofws.Customer ? How do I do that?

Field type Choice is not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete this field.

Has anyone received this error message and know how to deal with it? Field type  Choice  is not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete this field. I have received this error three times now, once when trying to add a 'List Definition From Content Type' in Visual Studio twice when trying to add from existing site columns in Sharepoint in the list settings and library settings from the ribbon from a list and a document library.

Using extensions with Object Class and Page in WPF

I don't usually ask a question without trying it first, but hey, why not.  Searching for this one is not exactly easy. I am wondering if I can use extensions with Object and if they (the variables) will subsequently be available for use in a Page partial class generated for WPF?  By this I mean in the same project and assembly. BTW, I won't be offended by posts pointing out why not to do this with Object.  The why in this case is something as basic as having one base class that contain: bYes = True; bNo = False; Now of course, having a base class is not going to work with something like Page... There may be much better ways to this, what I do not want is syntax MyBaseInstance.bYes and MyBaseInstance.bNo in MyPageInstance and bYes or bNo everywhere else.  Any advice? Regards,  Dave Horsman

Feature Deployment of Inherited Content Type

I'm encountering a strange behaviour and I'm not sure of the root cause or solution.  I have a custom content type that inherits from form with a content type id of: 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.  This was created in from the SharePoint UI. I'm attempting to deploy an inherited content type from as a feature.  The feature activates fine but no content type appears in the UI.  From that point forward I get the following error in the UI if I attempt to create a child content type of 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.    "The local device name is already in use. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070055) "  In the logs I see the following error 3 times: Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a8601". At this point I uninstall the feature but still can't delete the original custom content type because it says the content type is in use.  Using the SP Manager tool from codeplex shows me that the child content type is still associated with the parent despite the fact that it never showed up in the UI! Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c9

Form opening in infopath client despite Content Type settings "Display as a Web Page"

Hi all,   I have a strange behavior with my forms. The infopath template is defined as Content Type for my Form library, in the advanced settings I have checked "Display as a Web page" for the "Opening browser-enabled documents" setting. Despite that when the client is availble on the computer which is browsing the Form Library, I'm asked to "Open", "Save" or "Cancel" instead of opening the form in the browser.   Any idea why this is happening ?

Add a "Shared Documents" type documents browser onto an aspx Application Page?

I have an aspx page for a user to fire off a mail merge. I'd like them to choose a .html file from a document library in Sharepoint, then choose a contact list, and then have it fire off the mail merge.

The mail merge part is done and works from a console application with the .html file location hardcoded, and the contact list hard coded.
What I need is a way to add a documents browser onto the .aspx page. I can't see any obvious control I can drop on to achieve this though.

Ideally I would drop on a <Sharepoint:DocumentsBrowser> control, point it at a given ListId in sharepoint, and at runtime Sharepoint would display a nice shared documents type documents browser. Is this possible?

The connection type is not compatible with any other web parts on the page

Is there anyway to determine which interface a webpart uses for connection?

I have a custom web part, implementing the ICellConsumer interface, and I am trying to send values to the SPVisibilityFilter webpart, available here http://spvisibilitywebpart.codeplex.com, which seems to be implementing the ICellConsumer interface as well.

Yet, I still keep getting "the connection type '' is not compatible with any other web parts on the page", when trying to connect the web parts on the page. What am I missing?
