VS 2010 Workflow -Linq Data Connections

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We have several workflows to build that will use a common linq data class.

What is the best way to expose this class to all WF projects?

Tried a solution with 2 projects

  • The data class
  • The workflow with references to the data class

But the workflow always "failed on start"

Soon as I removed the references to the dataaccess project it ran OK

InfoPath 2010, Multiple Repeating Sections have same name, Diff data connections using same SQL Serv

I've created an InfoPath 2010 form that has three Repeating sections and each one uses a different data connection but all three connections use the same table in SQL Server... "Accounts".  Now you might ask why I would do this? Well I need different sets of data in each section and it all resides in the same table in the repository. Also, sometimes one section will not have information and I do not want a bunch of blank fields displaying in the repeating section. So I split the data into separate sections. Now here is the challenge for you guru's out there. :) I want to use one column in the 3rd repeating section  to refer back to another column in the first repeating section.(for referential integrity) Unfortunately since they both use the same table in the database they possess the same name under advanced view:  myFields/dataFields "d_:Accounts". In fact all three of my repeating sections have the same name based upon the database table used in the data connection. In the SQL statement I attempted to rename each of the connections via the statement. I have not tried to give the table an alias in the statement yet. Will try that one next. 1. Is there a simple way to rename the repeating Section from "d_:Accounts" to something else so that  they are each unique? (Without using backend code as I've only used InfoPath/SP/S

Sharepoint 2010 List data to Word Template via Workflow

Ok, I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Designer as well as Infopath 2010. I have a requirement to send out a word document (via workflow) that will be a template that references fields from my Sharepoint List.

Any help is appreciated, I do not want to buy anything extra and a no-code solution would be best.

SharePoint 2010 Centrally Managed Data Connections

I know it is possible to deploy connection files to a Local/ Relative connection library using WSP

but is it possible to deploy Centrally managed Data Connections using a WSP?

Data Connections Stopped Working In Infopath 2010

I have an Infopath 2007 web enabled form that I converted to Infopath 2010.  I also converted the data connection to 2010.  The server is also SP2010.  Now when the form is accessed via the browser the following error occurs.

"You do not have permissions to access a SharePoint list that contains data required for this form to function correctly."

It works ok in preview mode.  And nothing else has changed.  The production 2007 Infopath version of this form still works.  Security is set to "Domain".  And there is no issue with access to the data connection list.  What am I missing?

sharepoint 2010 variable in data connections

Question on retaining workflow data after upgrading to SP 2010

After upgrading from SP 2007 to SP 2010, will the workflow data be retained? I mean, if there are any workflows that are started but are yet to be completed, will there be any issues with those after upgrade? I tried finding about this in the Internet, but couldn't find any.

Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Server-Side APIs

Accessing SharePoint data in server-side solutions is one of the most common tasks that you will perform as a SharePoint developer. SharePoint 2010 provides powerful server-side APIs that enable you to retrieve, add, edit, and delete SharePoint data programmatically. SharePoint 2010 also includes the new LINQ to SharePoint technology that enables you to work with SharePoint data efficiently and easily.

About Dynamic Data in Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 4

Does anybody here have any pointers to screencasts, demos, webcasts for the latest enhancements in Dynamic Data as listed in above link? I'm repeating them here for ready reference :

  • EnableDynamicData method which enables Dynamic Data features in existing ASP.NET applications and DataSource controls
  • A new QueryExtender control, contained in the sample projects to simplify common data filtering operations. It supports a rich ASP.NET declarative query syntax that makes it easy to do things like search data for text or have filters based on ranges
  • A new Dynamic Data filter model that enables the developers to apply templates to pages just like field templates (including user defined filters)
  • New field templates of Email, URL and Enum columns
  • Support for inheritance in Entity Framework and Linq to SQL
  • Support for many to many relationships in Entity Framework
  • New Entity Templates which allow fine control over how an object is displayed and edited
  • DynamicHyperLink control for building links to tables and actions
  • Declarative support for D

SharePoint 2010 Long Starting if start workflow programatically

In SharePoint 2010, I'm starting workflow #2 programatically from my workflow #1. See code below:

					SPList currentList = web.Lists[new Guid(ListId)];
					SPListItem currentListItem = currentList.GetItemById(ListItem);

					//resolve any lookup parameters
					string workflowId = base.ProcessStringField(WorkflowIdentifier);

					//find workflow association by name
					SPWorkflowAssociation workflowAssoc = currentList.WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName(workflowId, Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture);

					if (workflowAssoc != null)
						//start the workflow
						SPWorkflow workflow = site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(currentListItem, workflowAssoc, workflowAssoc.AssociationData, SPWorkflowRunOptions.Synchronous);

And workflow #2  will hang with Starting status (1-10 minutes), Then the workflow #2 status would be modified  to Completed.

I couldn't find how to start the workflow # 2 immediately and complete immediately without several minutes delay

Modify User in Collect Data from User Workflow

I've created a workflow with a Collect Data from User action that emails a Group when the task is created. Once the task is claimed by an individual, the Assigned To column in the task list is updated to display that person's name but once the task is completed the email variable for the action is not updated and the group is emailed instead of the person listed as Assigned To.

So the question is this: Is there a way to update the user varialbe in the workflow task once the task is completed, or would I need to build my own workflow and use the Send Email action?

wss2.0 Infopath 2007 'This form requires connections to data sources when it is loaded. At least on

Hi all

I have a user who receives the error 'This form requires connections to data sources when it is loaded. At least one of these connections is not available. As specified by the form designer, this form will not open' when trying to Submit an infopath form located on a WSS2.0 site.

The user has been having this issue since upgrading to Office 2007 and IE7. I have had the user run an Office Diagnostics but this has not resolved the issue.

I am not aware of any other users experiencing this issue.

Any ideas please?

How to use display Text in Hyperlink For SharePoint 2010 Designer Workflow

In SharePoint 2007 Designer, I have used the Hyperlink column to store the link "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details". The details text will be shown in the Hyperlink column. Everything works fine in sharepoint 2007 Designer workflow.

In SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflow, I used the same method but the hyperlink column is displaying the full text "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details" instead of only Details
