Word Web App cannot open this document for viewing because of an unexpected error.

We configured and enabled the Office Web Apps and we were able to open documents in browser. But since last week we are unable to open documents in browser.

I am getting this error:

Word Web App cannot open this document for viewing because of an unexpected error.

I went through Troubleshooting steps on this document http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_trblshoot and could not find the problem.

InfoPath / ActiveX error when using person selector field in Word template off SharePoint document l

I have created an out-of-the-box document library on a SharePoint 2010 site.  I left Microsoft Word Document selected as the Document Template.  I then added a person or group column and a multiple lines of text column to the document library. I then went into Library Settings --> Advanced Settings and clicked on Edit Template, opening the template in Word.  I created my template and added the two new columns to the document.  I did this using the Quick Parts --> Document Property --> [column name] feature under the Insert tab in Word.  I then saved the template back to SharePoint. Upon opening the template or creating a new document from the template, I get the following dialog box: --------------------------- Microsoft Office InfoPath --------------------------- One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page might not display correctly. --------------------------- OK   --------------------------- I've searched around (I believe fairly extensively) and have not run into anyone else with the same issue.  Some have mentioned a similar error when creating a custom document information panel in InfoPath, and suggested lowered ActiveX security setti

Error when trying to open an InfoPath document launched from IE 8.0 64-bit edition?

I've come across something very strange, I'm running SharePoint 2007 enterprise edition, in one of my sites I have a form library with an InfoPath form template associated with it.  When clicking the "New" button from the form library I get the following Internet Explorer popup error:

"This feature requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later and a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible XML editor such as Microsoft Office InfoPath."

I have internet explorer 8.0 and InfoPath 2003 installed.

Here's the odd part, when I try to open the form with IE 32 bit edition it works fine, this error is only occuring when I use the 64 bit edition.  Any idea why?

Error When a Word Document is displayed in WebBrowser Control

Hi,

We are using a WebBrowser control to display an MS Word document in a form. This was working fine for a long time, and now we tried to install this application in a new server. Now we are facing an issue. When we try to open the word document by using WebBrowserControl.Navigate method, it is asking the Open/Save dialog box, which is typically displayed when we download a file. Then if the user clicks on Open button, we are getting an error "Windows cannot find 'UsersTempFolder\1\Temp\MyDoc.DOCX'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.". Please note that UsersTempFolder\1\Temp\MyDoc.DOCX is NOT the path I have given in Navigate method. Also, if I click Save in open/save dialog box, I can save to a location and open it.

I don't have direct access to this server, but if I can believe the words of support person, every configuration is set same as our old server. Here is the details.

.NET Framework 3.0

MS Office 2003

Internet Explorer 6 SP2.

Could any one please help me to solve this issue? Any help is very much appreciated. Please let me know if you need any other details.

Thanks,

Kishore

Open local word document

Ok, now my last question for this day:

I want to open a Microsoft Word dot-file when the user klicks on a button in my intranet application. The dot-file is located on the harddrive of the user and executes some code in the AutoOpen() Sub.

Any possibilities to solve that issue? Using Javascript or a hyperlink?

Open word document from asp.net - toolbar not visible.

Hi,

We have a scenario where the data on the web page needs to be opened in MS Word document.

For this we are using

HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/msword"

But when we select "Open" in the popup box and the msword opens up, tool bars for msword is not displayed (Font/ font size etc.). But if we choose to save and open the saved document at that time the standard tool bar is visible.

Is there any way to display word doc with standard tool bars.

Thanks.

Error trying to upload word .doc document to Sharepoint 3.0 Exception occurred. (Exception from HRES

We have recently moved our shrepoint WSS 3.0 site to a new server running WSS3.0 on Server 2008 R2. Since the migration everything is as it was and working ok execpt we are now unable to upload word .doc files to the site. When we try to attach a .doc file we get :

Error - Exception occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020009 (DISP_E_EXCEPTION))

Other file types ie .pdf .ptxt etc can be uploaded ok but .doc fails. I have checked blocked file types in Central administration but .doc isn't listed.

Any ideas.

Cannot open Word document from sharepoint Shared Documents folder

Hey Every body

I have a very strange problem. Our Company has a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 solution running as our company Intranet solution.

We have a solution where outside users, can gain access to a workspace site on Sharepoint where diffrent people can work together on projects that involves both out side users and internal staff.
We have a folder called shares documents here we can upload documents that we want the other memebers off this workspace too see.
The problem is that internal staff can open up Word documents directly, but the external users are not able to open up directly these Word documents. Word just sayes that that is is unabel to open up the word document.
But when the users download the documents instead it works fine.

I have tries with both offcie 2003 and office 2007 and the problem is the same. But if i try to open up these documens via Open Office the problem due not exits, then is works fine. Why does Microsoft Word have these problems?

And is it just when the external users are opening up the documents directly from the sahred Documens folder that we have this problem.

The external users are connecting to our Citrix Netscaller security solution for authenticating purpoes first, after they have been validated through this solution, they ar

Word Web App encountered an unexpected error. (SSL Site)

I have SharePoint 2010 set to https://sharepoint.domain.com as the default AAM (with the intranet one being http://ny-sp-01) and I'm running into SSL/mixed content issues when trying to use the Word editor (I'm in IE9, but that shouldn't matter).  I'm accessing the site using https://sharepoint.domain.com.

When I go to edit a document in word, I get the following error:

Word Web App encountered an unexpected error.
Digging deeper with the F12 tools, I see HTTPS errors:

Error opening Office Open XML file when using SD workflow to create item in document library.

I have a Sharepoint document library that is using a word template with xml mapping (Word-Sharepoint).

I have a workflow created in Sharepoint designer that Creates an item in this document library with select data from a form library on the same site.

It appears to create the entry in the document library correctly, it is showing the copied data from the form library and the correct default data in the columns specific to the document library. The explorer view shows the filename.docx files.

I am able to edit the data using the datasheet view, however it will not open the word document.

The error message reads "The Office Open file <filename> cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents." If I click on the details button it states "No error detail available".

Any ideas?
