How do I keep SP 2010 from changing my HTML code? It is really ____ me off!!

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Ok, I am trying to add simple html and css to a text box defined as "Enhanced rich text (Rich text with pictures, tables, and hyperlinks)"

But everytime I save and close SP changes the HTML. It is really starting to make me MAD. can I turn that "Feature" off? I am trying to add something as simple as this.

<hr noshade="true" width="1px" /> but SP keeps changing it to <hr width="1px" />

<div style="background-image:url('imgs/main_headr.jpg');"> </div>

but SP keeps removing the style all together.

I am experiencing this in CEWP's as well as pages.

How do I run php code with an html file by changing the web.config file?

I have a windows server and would like to add php code to my .html files. I know this is possible with linux servers with .htaccess files but how do I do it with a windows server? I called my hosting provider and they said I need to forget about .htaccess and look into the web.config file. What I want is for my server to read html files and execute any php code it finds. I can't find the code I need to add to the web.config file.

I am quite new to all this.  I switched my server to a windows server with IIS 7 a few months ago. But I find asp.net way too difficult for this beginner. I can't switch back to a linux server since my business partner is creating pages with ASP.net

I just want to execute php code inside of html files.  Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

VS 2010 HTML validation "in CSS" option - where the hell is it?

In VS 2008 there is a very useful feature of background HTML validation - it checks if CSS class name is valid i.e. it exists in one of the linked css files. But VS 2010 Express does not do that any more. And the relevant setting in Options->Text Editor->HTML->Validation->in CSS is not there. Ok, maybe they made it paid for option? VS 2010 Professional? Not there. Or maybe VS 2010 Ultimate? Not a trace.

1. am I blind?

2. they decided it is too convenient to use and removed it?

3. they will "introduce" it in SP1?

What is going on? That one thing made me move back to VS 2008 web developer.

The Weekly Source Code 56 - Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 Training Kit - Code Contracts, P

Do you like a big pile of source code? Well, there is an imperial buttload of source in the Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 Training Kit . It's actually a 178 meg download, which is insane. Perhaps start your download now and get it in the morning when you get up. It's extremely well put together and I say Kudos to the folks that did it. They are better people than I. I like to explore it while watching TV myself and found myself looking through tonight. I checked my blog and while I thought I'd shared this with you before, Dear Reader, I hadn't. My bad, because it's pure gold . With C# and VB, natch. Here's an outline of what's inside. I've heard of folks setting up lunch-time study groups and going through...(read more)

dynamically change html code when user is authenticated

So I have a fairly simple web site which allows an Administrator to edit some data in a database which is displayed on some web pages.

The main navigation on the site is shown in the code snippet below. The Admin link goes to a Login.aspx which allows the Administrator to log in - once authenticated they get sent to the data edit page.

So my question is, how could I dynamically add a link to the data edit page in the <ul> list below once the user is authenticated ?

This would allow the authenticated user to see links to the secure pages in the main navigation bar.

<%--Top Navigation Menu --%>
<div id="topMenu">
<li><a href="default.aspx">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="introduction.aspx">Introduction</a></li>
<li><a href="curriculum.aspx">Curriculum</a></li>
<li><a href="times.aspx">Times & Fees</a></li>
<li><a href="staff.aspx">Staff</a></li>
<li><a href="login.aspx">Admin</a></li>
</div><%--End of topMenu Container--%>
<div id="clear"></div><%--Floats items cleared End of Master Page--%>

How do I change the default HTML code for a collection of lists and views

I have modified the html display code of some lists and content query web parts in SharePoint designer.  This works well when modifying a few lists, but I have many lists and different views with these many lists.

Is there a way to modify the template code for a site so that all my lists, views and CQWPs display identically with my modified code?  Managing these individually is not practical.

VB.NET - store HTML code in SQL Server

Hey guys/gals!!

Quick question - I want to allow someone to enter HTML markup in a control, and save the input exactly as entered.

I want people to put a minimum of 50 words, to maximum of 500, and be able to save the formatting of their text in SQL 2005 server database.

Also, I understand this is two questions, but how do I save metadata of an image file in the sql database? I mean, I get the gist of it, but how do I do it?

Thanks everyone!

Code Camp 2010 in Words & Pictures

The Jacksonville Developer User Group pulled off an excellent code camp this weekend.  It was a great opprotunity to catch up with friends, meet new ones, and learn some good tech!  My day started off as a volunteer at the registration table.  We had a great group of volunteers...even if it was 6:30 in the morning...on a Saturday! Our welcome sign...who says you don't need a code monkey? After handing out badges, bags, and shirts for a couple hours it was off to my first class: SQL Server Complex Event Processing.  This is the new StreamInsight technology that is part of SQL Server 2008 R2.  Interesting stuff for streaming real-time data from various system...I'll need to dig into it a bit deeper. Next it was off to learn about Functional Programming and then "Becoming a Rx Pusher with the Reactive Framework".  The Reactive Framework talk was probably the most interesting of the day.  It was presented by Jim Wooley who posts at ThinqLinq.com.  The Rx framework looks extremely interesting in terms of how it handles asynchronous processing. Of course, I had to visit my friends over at PR'UF.  The PR'UF system was launched at this year's Code Camp and provides a better way to find the talented developers & architects you need.  What makes PR'UF different?  It uses reputable industry experts who

Custom SharePoint Timer Job doesn't run after changing code and restart timer services.

Hi We are facing an issue that our custom SharePonit Timer Job doesn't run after a changing the code. First, we developed and deployed a timer job. It worked fine for a few days, then we detected a memory leak and killed the OWSTIMER.EXE. (Maybe we should uninstall the timer job and restart the timer services nicely). We fixed the problem, redeployed the fix as a feature (assemblies are re-GACed ...) to our small SharePoint farm (one web server, one services server), restarted the SharePonit Timer Services. Now we can see the time job in Timer Job Definition in Central Admin but the job never runs (Since it doesn't run, the timer job status page doesn't have any info about it). We tried the same process in a dev environment with SharePoint signle box installation. The timer job just works fine. I did some search on Internet and followed some instruction to clear the cache from "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config\1d50d73c-9bf1-4444-85a9-910ed050d1bf" by 1. Remove all the xml2. Clear the cache.ini with "1".3. restart the timer services. It still doesn't fix the problem.Please advise what else I can do. I even rename the timer job and redeploy it. It doesn't help. I checked the even log and SharePoing log and couldn't see anything wrong. Our OS is W2K8.         public override void FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties)        {

VS 2010 not updating code

I have VS 2010 64 bit installed on Win7 64. When I had a datagrid control attached to a SQLdatasource it would select fine but not do any updates to the database. thought it was a caching issue.  I went the SQLdatasource route and added a class to handle the data retrieval. I had attached code to a button to do a search of the table based on text in a textbox. I got that working, but decided to comment out all the code in the button_click event. I ran the code in the debug mode and the page still worked including the lookup. copied the URL to other browsers and same outcome.  i closed VS2010, restarted, deleted the button, ran the page with no button, then added a button onto the page (different name for button) and when I ran the application the search worked. So the code must be cached somewhere and is not being updated each time i save an update. Has anyone seen this behavior??

How to handle differences in HTML code from different browser versions?

First of all I'm still very new to C# so be gentle :p I'm currently trying to make an application that can login to a certain website and search for some numbers and so on that I can put in an overview, just to save some time. The only thing I found that could do this is the WebBrowser control, and I've managed to make it work, but when I gave the program to a friend it failed. I think it has to do with the difference in browser versions (he uses Internet Explorer 7, I use the latest) and if that's the case I'm pretty clueless how to deal with the problem, since I don't even know what the differences in HTML codes are in each version, and it seems like a lot of work to adjust all the html code to check for accordingly. For example it was even so that & changed to &amp; in my application on my PC and that's only by using one browser so I dunno what happens with other browser versions. I assume that the WebBrowser control always uses Internet Explorer, even if for example Firefox is the standard browser, is this true? But to be sure I asked the friend to put his Internet Explorer as the default browser and still no go. So my question is: is there a relatively easy way to make sure that the program works on practically any PC, without me having to make exceptions for like version 1.6.7 or 1.6.8 (I have no idea what versions there are really)?
