Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We are getting "HTTP 500 - internal server error" upon opening list attachments. The list attachments are added programmatically to the list item.

This doesn't happen for all the items in the list, but only for few items.

There is no error in the SharePoint logs and the event viewer.

Has anyone encountered this issue/error?

Opening SharePoint List Attachments - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Hi All,

We are programmatically attaching documents/attachments to the list item through a web-part.

I'm using the below code to accomplish this. (Fileupload control is rendered in the webpart)

Stream inputStream = this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.InputStream;

byte[] buffer = new byte[inputStream.Length];

inputStream.Read(buffer, 0, (int)inputStream.Length);

spListItem.Attachments.Add(this.fileUploadCtrl.PostedFile.FileName, buffer);

The attachments are getting added fine. But in some cases, only the file is attached but not the contents. when we click on the attached file name, we get the following error:

Has anyone encountered this issue? Any help is highly appreciated.

RDL Rendering (500 Internal Server) Error at Sharepoint Integrated Reporting Service

I have a serious problem that cannot be solved by googling around the keywords below:
sharepoint, moss 2007, reporting service, ssrs 2008, rendering, internal server error, ....

The error is;

"An error occurred during client rendering. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. "

Everything is O.K.;

* When I render the report from the REPORTSERVER (http://localhost/ReportServer)
* When the reports are scheduled to be sent by the reporting service (planned via MOSS 2007)

But if I open (render) the RDL file from the sharepoint REPORTS LIBRARY interface, all of the reports fail with that internal error message above.

It is weird also that parametrized reports are displayed without errors although the parameters are queried from a sql dataset. But I got the error when rendering the report after I've chosen a parameter  and order "apply/report"...

Possible causes how I met that error may be;

After I have installed (then uninstalled) AJAX extensions
After I have re-configured IIS Web Service Extensions list items

Possible solution alternatives I've found;

I've found a solution on MSDN replying a similar issue with an ideal cause of the error but an evreka answer but no sol

MS Message Queueing 4.0 HTTP Support - 500 Internal Server Error

Hi all,   I've been trying to set up MSMQ 4.0 with HTTP Support to allow one of our partners to send messages to us. However, whenever I make any call to the msmq page I get an internal server error 500 (See below). My platform is Windows 2008 SE (64-bit) running as a DC (though MSMQ is running in workgroup mode).   Any hints on what might be causing this or how I can investigate further? Are there any log files for the ISAPI extension, or the MQISE.dll, or the MSMQ service that might help me shed light on this problem?   I've seen blogs about an issue with MSMQ 3.0 where the machine name can't be 15 characters long, is this still the case with MSMQ 4.0?   The error details are as below,     Server Error in Application "WWW.MYDOMAIN.COM/MSMQ" Internet Information Services 7.0 HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, so it cannot be displayed. Sharepoint list NewFormUsr form page gives HTTP 404 error

We have main SP list say X, within that we have other child SP list say A, B and C. When I view all available list in the SP site I can view all list here (http://server/sitename/_layouts/viewlists.aspx?Basetype=0)

When trying to add new item individually to child list the NewFormUsr.aspx page opens with popup message "You are only allowed to add new items from the [Main List Name] Screen".

Going back to main list DispFormUsr.aspx page I can see a form with all columns of the main list and at the bottom all child list with a link to add new items to them. However, when we try to add new item to child list from this page the NewFormUsr.aspx for child list gives webpage cannot be found error. I'm not sure why this suddenly started to happen as it use to work before. Can someone advice if they had similar problem and how was it solved?

Error: "HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error" - Windows Server 2008, IIS7, SSAS 2008, msmdpump.d

We are migrating from Windows Server 2003 / IIS6 to Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) / IIS7 and I am having trouble getting our OLAP HTTP access re-established.  I had this working fine under IIS6 but am now getting the error "HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error" when attempting to access msmdpump.dll via a browser.

Our existing Win2003 server emits a blob of useful XML when you access the dll via a browser, the new Win2008 server just issues a HTTP 500 error.  Obviously when I get around this error we'll be using standard OLAP clients like Excel and Report Builder etc.

I have followed these instructions:

The Windows Event Logs contain no errors relating to the failed attempts.  I temporarily configured Failed Request Tracing and got a couple of traces of the error occurring.  The most pertinent thing I could find in the FRT was:

Opening attachments to list items in SharePoint 2010

We have some sites that use lists with attachments (generally PDFs). When we click on the item and then on the attachment, we only get the option to Save or Cancel. I thought this might be related to the web applications Strict vs. Permissive setting, but it occurs even after switching the web app to permissive file handling. List attachments in Microsoft formats (word, excel) open correctly in the web apps, and PDFs in document libraries correctly show the Open option since switching the web application to permissive. Is there a way for that to affect list attachments as well?
