How to update value directly in class Object using Linq

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a class object which is basically kind of hierarchy and looks like this when I convert that to XML.

  	<SKU>SKU 1</SKU>
	<ConfigurationStatus>Not Configurable</ConfigurationStatus>
  			<SKU>SKU 2</SKU>
  			<ConfigurationStatus>Not Configurable</ConfigurationStatus>
  					<SKU>SKU 3</SKU>
		  			<ConfigurationStatus>Not Configurable</ConfigurationStatus>

So you can see that I have "objectComponent" which is kind of hierarchy and that hierarchy can be upto any level.

Now I need to update <quantity> value where <sk

Unable to Create Object Variable for Linq Data Class

For some unknown reason I suddenly am unable to create an object variable for a Linq Data Class. If I create a new project and try the process again with the same database everything works as advertized.

The code I am using is Dim db As New RoggDataContext  which gives me an error on the object variable "db": Overload resolution failed because no accessibility 'NEW'  accepts this number of arguments.

I have looked inside every file in the Web Project like the web config to check the connection string, gobal, and designer.vb looking for any errors whit no JOY.  I also tried to create a new form and code behind with a button and received the same error.

This is mind blowing because as I already stated, I can create a new Web Site and the problem goes away.

Any help is appreciated!

Building a Custom Data Grid: Performing Ad Hoc Web Reporting with a VBScript 5.0 Class Object

A flexible, customizable grid for displaying data is a useful tool for ASP developers. It allows Web visitors to customize their view of your data. This article takes the data grid presented in "Ad Hoc Web Reporting with ADO 2.0" by John Papa and Charles Caison (MIND, December 1998) and adds handy features such as a finds feature that supports multiple finds and a mode for adding and editing records. This version also improves response time by allowing asynchronous record download and it componentizes the code so it can be used as a standalone VBScript class object that can be reused in other pages.

How we Update DataContext's Table Implicitly in Linq using .Net 3.5..?

Hi All.. My problem is i am working on Linq,as we know to use any table in linq we have to drag and drop it on our datacontext's Designer File, and at run time we got its value, till here no any problem, main point is if any changes in respective data source's schema has made ,then on datacontext we will not get that changes, for it we have to change this datacontext manually by by again drag and drop,it will not happen implicitly when this changes has been made on the data source. so please tell me how i solve this problem so that datacontext change implicitly without any over head  using .net 3.5 .

Calling a method with a class object as parameter data type.

[WebMethod]    public string GetInfo(Customer inCust)    {        // Code in here    } I have a web service that resides on a remote server. I want to call a public method of theweb service named  "GetInfo". The method is shown above. The web service method expects a class object oftype "Customer". What I did to create a Customer object was to define in my asp.net project my own class named "Customer" which is exactlythe same as the class that belongs to the web service project on the remote server. I then created an instance of Customerand tried to call the web service passing in an object of type customer : my.Service ws = new my.Service(); // Get web service connectionCustomer aCustomer = new Customer();aCustomer.Initialize();ws.GetInfo(aCustomer) // call web service passing in a Customer object The problem is that the compiler gives me the following error: Value of type '_Default.Customer' cannot be converted to 'ws.Class1'. Here Default is refering to my Default.aspx.cs code. Why is this? Do I need to Cast my "aCustomer" class object to a type ofws.Customer ? How do I do that?

Client Object Model - update metadata

Is there a way that I can update the metadata for a document in a document list using a UniqueId without having to speciify the library name? If I know the library name and the ID I know how to update the metadata but what I was hoping was that there would be a way of doing it using a UniqueId without knowing exactly which Library the document is in.

LINQ - Can't perform Create, Update or Delete operations on because it has no primary key.

Hi, not sure if I'm posting this thread in the right section. anyway, I''m trying to do the update/insert/delete using LINQ but the underlying table does not a primary key. The table consists of composite ket (e.g. fieldA & FieldB make a primary key). At the moment, I have LINQ complaning about not having a single primary key (not sure what LINQ does it - not making any sense at all). did anyone ever come across this issue and rectified it?  thanks

How to Pass a Grid an EF Object and have it edit/update etc. without postbacks until save?

Hey all. Here's what I'm trying to do:I want to pull an EF object, or create a new one. Pass it to javascript (jquery or some such) and then have the grid bind on the client side and do everything client side from that point forward. (edits, validation etc.) Once complete, I want jquery to push back via a pagemethod or web service or whatever, the updated EF object so that i can persist it.Reason?I need a highly scalable architecture that handles not storing objects in the session or posting to a database when they haven't been saved to a user. I know I can do this with Silverlight, however given MS's less than convincing comments about Silverlight's future vs HTML 5, I'm strongly leaning towards asp.net or mvc.net if I can come up with a way to use jquery (or even a 3rd party control that does this!) to handle all of the data editing, updating etc. for a master/child display (i.e. Invoice) without the server having to store it and without having to use the viewstate.Ideas? In my mind this would be the holly grail. Render the page, push the data to the controls, have the controls do their thing until save without ever doing server processing, and then on save, push back the object and allow the server to persist it (and probably do server validation before presisting it just in case). By doing this you could make superscalable apps that
