ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript

The article ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript was added by Aamir Hasan on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

One of the pain points with developing AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and other client-side behaviors is that JavaScript doesn't allow for cross domain request for pulling content. For example, JavaScript code on www.johnchapman.name could not pull content

Open different page using Ajax Modal PopUp Extender Control

The article Open different page using Ajax Modal PopUp Extender Control was added by Chintan Dave on Thursday, July 15, 2010.

You May use Modal Popup Extender to open some part of the page as Popup. But there we don't have any property to open other html or aspx page in Popup window. We can do it using IFrame control. What we have to do, just add IFrame control in Panel that

Panels messing up page layout

On a few different pages in my web app I have a scrollable panel that contains a gridview. When there is nothing in the panel display as I want it to, however when the grid view is populated with data it stretches the panel across the page which looks awful, it means the panel is partially stretched across the window but is still scrollable

Anyone know why this might be happening?

Slow page load during a list query one time during the day

We have a monitoring tool set to check to see if the home pages for our 3 web apps load in under 60 seconds every 10 minutes.  All 3 web apps load in under 3 seconds on every 10 minute check except for one exception.  One check every day one of the web app's home page takes longer than 60 seconds to load.  This happens at 11:45PM when there is very little user usage on the environment.  The characteristics of this page are as follows: The only thing on the page is a list view web part which was added by the browser.  The page has not been customized with SPD or code at all.  The list that it pulls is a simple links list that has 281 items on it.  The view pulls all 281 items and displays them in sets of 100.  I cannot find any associated event in the server events and/or SharePoint ULS logs nor are there any daily sharepoint timer jobs running at that time.  Our full index happens at midnight with incremental happening hourly.  Our enviroment is 2 WFEs, 1 App/indexer and we have a separate SQL cluster backend.

Could someone lead me possibly in the direction I should take next in my troubleshooting?

$.ajax post from asp.net page and __viewstate causing call to fail

Now I know that I won't be sending viewstate and eventvalidation in my ajax calls and that I will only want to send the actual form fields for efficiency purposes but I will need to know the answer to this question, to inform the more junior members of the team and my manager, so if anyone has any answers they are most welcome.

I have a simple form as follows

What is the standard practice to make sure one slow-running page doesn't affect other pages?

Page A loads very fast; Page B loads very slowly and does some CPU-intensive things on the web server.I noticed that if someone is loading Page B, then Page A also loads slowly - for ALL users. What is the standard practice for making sure this doesn't happen?  If multiple users are loading Page B at the same time then Page A is ridiculously slow.Is there an IIS setting, web.config setting, or hardware configuration I could use to make sure that the fast-loading pages aren't bogged down by other pages that need more time to load?

Extremely Slow Page Loads

Thought I would reach out to the experts and see if anybody might be able to point me in a direction as I do not know where to turn next. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. All of a sudden page load times on the primary web app in my SP2007 farm are extremely slow. Making the site almost unusable. Network performance seems fine as does SQL -- no obvious errors in the logs. The problem happens intermittently. Environment: •  Win2k3 SP2 servers    •  1 WFE (VM)        •  SharePoint 2007 SP2 w/ JUN 2010 cumulative update installed.        •  Most recent WU patches applied about 10 days ago (suspected cause?)      •  1 SQL 2005 (metal)        •  The content database is 20.7 GB, so it fall withing BPs.         •  My DBA has said the DBs do not look overly fragnmented •  1 site collection •  4 web apps •  The VM environment is VMWare vSphere. Search indexing (full) is disabled; All app pools have been recycled; Warmup scripts have been run; and the server has been been rebooted. Have anyone run across anything like this before? Can you point me in a direction? Thanks in advance.

AJAX Slideshow extender on Master Page

I am pretty much a novice at AJAX.  I really appreciate the How To videos for ASP.net and AJAX.<> My problem is this.  I would like to have a very simple slideshow running on my Master Page.  I can get a slideshow on my AJAX enabled .aspx pages without any problem, using the examples in the video.<>When I create a Master Page/Content pages site with an AJAX ScriptManager and SlideShowExtender on my Master Page and move the functioning slideshow code onto the Master, it does not seem to run.<>I would appreciate any input.  Thanks.  Master Page Code:<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPageTwo.master.cs" Inherits="MasterPageTwo" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="cc1" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">     <title>Untitled Page</title>     <asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="head" runat="server">     </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </head> <body>     <fo

Sharepoint2007 + Ajax slow work

Hello, I write Sharepoint WebPart with jQuery plagin jqGrid to show DB data in table view on Sharepoint Server 2007 (of cource to manipulate with data jQuery plagin use Ajax technology). Master Page, web service and Ajax autocomplete extender problem.

I will appreciate very much any help about this issue.  I have been dealing with it for the last week and I couldn't detail and complete examples about this issue. The problem: I have a text box and ajax autocomplete control extender in my Master Page that it is not working at all.  When I type some characters on the text box it doesn't trigger the autocomplete. I have a web service that contains the function code. I est my code on a single Web Page (No Master Page) and it works perfectly.  Also, it works fine if I include the text box and the extender on the Content Page instead of on the Master Page.  It is important to keep the text box in the Master Page for me. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and ASP 3.5.   tHANK YOU VERY MUCH. here is my code:   MASTER PAGE. <%@ Master Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="ajax" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data.SQLClient" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Web.Script.Services" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web.Services&

for ajax data insertion in page what is faster than innerHTML ?

I m doing an ajax work where web service will return data and on client side and I am creating html table with data. I am using var (to hold string of generated html code), do string concatinations to generate table, tr and td tags and put data in it. Than I put this html table with data into a div using innerHTML. Please note I am applying inline css in this dynamic html code. The issue I am facing is web service will return a huge amount of data. What I tested is even on local machine it took about 10-12 minutes to process (concatinating, creating tags putting data in table, applying css) 10000 rows. Stored procedure just take 3-4 seconds in returning data. Please guide me how this inbrowser processing time can be reduced ? I am doing it for speed in some wrong way ? Or is there some technique for it or some method faster than innerHTML and string concatinations ? thanks

Dear ALL ASP.NET expert,

MS Ajax web page Save As file

I have several pages in my site that are using an UpdatePanel to allow partial postbacks to step through the process of selecting options for a dynamic report.  An internal user just came to me and said "I ran this report and then clicked 'File -> Save As .mht' to save it to my desktop, and when I opened the resulting file, it was the first selection option rather than the result.

I have verified myself that this is the case.  If this particular page has for example, 4 states: 1st option, 2nd option, 3rd option, Resulting Report..  All coming from the same page, just different panels being shown for each step.  When the user is viewing the resulting report and clicks File -> Save As, the file that is saved is of the 1st option, not the results.

I know one way around this would be to add a link to the page to "Save as PDF" or whatever, and then I'd have to write the code to generate that file...  and I can do that if I need to.  I just thought that the user should also be able to Save their current page at any point by clicking Save As.

Is this possible with MS Ajax?  Maybe this is an Ajax thing, and not a MS thing?

Anybody know how to save the web page's current view (ie: what is currently visible)?
