ssrs 2008 export to word 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am having an issue with the header on an rdl file (ssrs 2008) when I export to word 2010.  The header gets cut off at the top of the page (about .5 inch).  But when I export to a PDF file it is fine.  If all our users exported only to pdf this would not be an issue, but unfortunately our users use both word and pdf to print out the reports.

Issue with Excel and Word Export - SSRS 2008

Hi there,

I have created fairy simple report having a table in body section and Header, Footer. I have set the Report Properties

Orientation - Landscape

Paper Size - Custom

Width - 11in & Height - 8 in

Margins - Left 0.25 in , Right 0.25 in, Top 0.5 in, Botton 0.5 in

Issue NO 1: When i export the report to Excel, it takes margin as Left 0.75 in , Right 0.75 in, Top 1 in, Botton 1 in, because of this some part of my Report is cut. what should i do to keep margins of Excel as per margins set in RDL.

Issue No 2: In Footer excel shows Page 1 of 1 for all the pages

Expression used :

"Page" & Globals!PageNumber & " of " & Globals!TotalPages;

Issue No 3: when i export the Report to word, it does not consider landscape and show only middle part of report, cut rest of the report data.

SSRS 2008 Export to PDF fails for large data with System.Exception: Parameter is not valid

Hi, We are working on Range Bar Chart using SSRS 2008. The report has huge data. It is properly displaying the data, but when we tried to export to pdf it is failing with the following exception. Exporting to excel works fine. Also if the report has small/medium data it is property exporting to PDF. It is failing only in case of huge data (we have custom page size of 28" X 14"). Of course the report has lot of expressions we used to customize the colors/text as per our requirements.   Server Error in '/Reports_SQLDEV2008' Application. Parameter is not valid. How do you freeze the tablix header row in an Excel export file in SSRS 2008?

So this is totally killing me. I've found out how to make a tablix header row repeat on each page of a PDF export file in SSRS 2008 (which I won't even get started on because all I can say is that 2005 is way better), but I cannot figure out how to make a simple header row of a tablix freeze in an Excel export file.  The tablix is right at the top of the body and spans the entire width of the design area.  How in the world do you get it to freeze in the Excel export file?

Deploying SSRS Reports from Visual Studio 2010 to Report Manager 2008

Our Report server is using Report Manager 2008. Previously I would load reports to it that I created via BIDS. Now I have to use VS 2010. I see that I can build and deploy reports there. Can I send it from VS 2010 to the REport manager 2008 on the other machine? I should add that now i have to develop on laptop only before i was on the server.

If not what are my options? I recall that vs 2005 objects were not taken in Report manager 2008.

AAM Problem with SSRS 2008 R2 and Sharepoint 2010

I have a single server farm with Sharepoint 2010 and SQL 2008 R2 installed. I have an extranet zone configured - and this is working fine from the internet via a Forefront TMG box.  All features in the farm, including Performance Point pieces (reports/dashboards etc) are working fine via the extranet zone except for Reporting Services reports (these are working fine in the internal/default zone).  I can see the report library, and the individual report items via the extranet, but when I try to view a report, I get this:

" The Web application at https://extranet.company.asia/client/Report Library/Spend by Media Owner.rdl could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application."

My understanding is that multiple zones are now supported in Sharepoint 2010/SSRS 2008 integrations, and that AAM should propagate automatically (?).  Can anyone assist in helping me understand where to look next?

many thanks,

SSRS 2008 export to Excel margin problem

When rendering report from SSRS 2008 with custom margins (let's say 0.5in) into Excel, margins do not export correctly, or do not export at all, thus Excel sets its default margins.

I heard in SSRS 2005 it was not a problem.

Any ideas?

In SSRS 2008, after export to Excel report loses nested visibility groups

I have a report  created in SSRS 2005 which is running on our new SSRS 2008 box.  It has 3 nested levels of visibility so the recipient can click the twist tie to view different levels of detail.  Each Zone has many Districts and each District has many Stores.  The report renders displaying the summary of the Zones.  If you click on the twist tie on the Zone it opens up a list of Districts.  If you click on the twist tie on a district, it opens up a list of stores.  If you click on the twist tie on one of the stores, you get the actual details of all repair orders submitted for that store.

The report renders fine in report manager.  The report has a subscription set up to run monthly that exports the results to Excel and emails them to our client.  The problem is when the report exports to Excel the twist tie exists on the Zone, but it missing on each of the Districts and Stores.  The client is not happy about this.  This report contains large amounts of data and is very combersome without the visibility grouping working properly in Excel.

I tried converting the report to SSRS 2008, but that did not solve my problem.

Is there anyway to fix the export process to Excel?

P.S. I tried to upload the code, but it caused my question to be too many characters

Export PDF in ssrs 2008 vs ssrs 2005 - pdf is different, won't work with itextsharp (possibly other

We're migrating from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008. We use itextsharp (a pdf processing library) to merge different PDF outputs into one large PDF file. This was working brilliantly in SSRS 2005, but in SSRS 2008, itextsharp *can* open and parse the PDF, but itext sees the "content" section of the PDF pages as blank. So, the resulting composite PDF ends up being a series of blank pages. Acrobat 9 and a couple other PDF tools (tested linux Evince and win GIMP) seem to be able to open the SSRS 2008-generated PDF fine, but the java-version of itext, and the .net version of itext (itextsharp) see nothing but blanks.
So, I realize this points to a problem with itext, but I'm curious if anyone else is merging PDFS outputed from SSRS 2008, and what PDF tools/libraries they are using.

Much thanks!

Sharepoint 2010 + SSRS 2008 R2 (CU3)

An RDL is added to a list.  The RDL is clicked and it renders the report and data , while the parameters have a non empty default value. (pefect world)

An RDL is added to a list.  the RDL is clicked and it renders, you fill the parameters, and click apply, then the reports renders fine (Again perfect world).  From here you change a parameter and click apply to see the changes, and a javascript error occurrs, with 'null' is not an object error.  And ideas?

Blank Page at the end of Word Doument - SSRS 2008

Hi there,

I have 3 RDL files, 2 Sub Reports(RDLs) and 1 Main Report(RDL). Sub Reports are inside Rectangle Container.

ON Main Report: The body of this RDL has border set.

I have used two tables each with only 1 row and column to  put two sub Reports in those two Tables respectively. The first table have property set, Add A Page Break After = True

The second Table has , Add A Page Break After = False

This report shows 5 pages when i generate it with PDF and shows page border too.

but, when i generate it with Word, page border is not present and takes 1 extra blank page at the end of the report. i.e total 6 pages when export to Word.

Any 1 Any Idea how to supress that extra blank page from Word document.

Report gets generated properly with open/save/cancel. But on click of OPEN the abode reader gets hanged. I tried to save the report and open, but no luck.

Size of the pdf is less than 150 kb. I have Abode ver 9.4 and SSRS 2008.
