Need help on Reports (second post)

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I'm actually in the learning curve with reports.  I'm stuck trying to figure out how to achieve the following kind of report.  For example:

         - 1rst section:  Global page presenting general information about a quote

         - 2nd section:  List of Labor involved represented by a list of codes along with the number of man-hours estimated.  A grand total should be presented at end of list.

         - 3nd section:  List of materials involved represented by a list of codes along with the quantity and unit price.  A grand total should be presented at end of list.

         - 4th section:  List of Sub-Contractors involved represented by a list of Names along with the number of man-hours estimated and total amount charged.  A grand total should be presented at end of list.

I would really appreciate if you could tell me how to design such report.

Thanks in advance.

Viewing Reports with SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts

Reporting Services provides several Web Parts that work with specific versions of a report server and in particular deployment modes. If you want to access report server content on a SharePoint site from a native mode report server, use the SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts that are included with Reporting Services. Instructions for installing and using the 2.0 Web Parts are provided in this topic.

Post back puzzle

Hi, I have a website where the user makes a selection from a combo box and it then fills a couple text boxes with text based upon the selection. I'm sure as you know it could take a second for the text to appear in the text box due to the post back. I know there is no way to make it instantanious, so what I would like to do it fill the text box with somthing like "Loading Info..." so the user does not type in it while the information is loading.

If you would like to see what I mean please go to this page: www.epiclinks.com/create.aspx and mess around with the combo boxes and You'll see what I mean.

What I would like to do is have it do a post back to write "Loading Info..." and then do another post back to fill it in based upon their selection. How would I do this?

I'm up for anything, so if you have a better solution than that please let me know.

Session with Crystal Reports on IE 8

Having a very wierd problem.  I have an application that uses Crystal Reports and it uses what I have found to be a common scenario (I am not a CR expert in any way).  I have an ASPX page that gathers options for the report, and then it goes and gets the data and if there is some, a button appears for them to launch the report.  On clicking that button, the code sets some values in the HttpResponse.Context area, then performs a Server.Transfer to another ASPX page that is our Report Template.  This page contains the CR stuff and it generates a PDF version of the report.  It then does the following code:

 With HttpContext.Current.Response
            .ContentType = "application/pdf"
            .AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Report.pdf")

HTTP Post and WebService

I am working on a application which will accept the data in the post request. My application also wants to expose a web service and want to call another web service. Considering all these 3 action that I want to do, can I create a single application which will have a web form which will accept the POST request and expose a web service at the same time.

Although it may be possible to achieve this, Is this a correct way of doing it?

server side does not save data when using POST data to another URL using WebRequest

I am using a IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. I have a simple application that uses System.Net.WebRequest to POST data to another URL (in fact, the server side URL is on my local computer and it is hosted in IIS 7.5).

  1.  The problem is the server does not save data from client although on the client side codes when I debug and I see the OK message return from the code line

response.StatusDescription; // this has value of "OK"
2. How can I debug the server code side where to receive the request from client side who posts the data ?

The following is the codes for client who posts data using System.Net.WebRequest, and codes for server side who received posted data to save to database.

Client side codes: // also run on my local computer

public string PostIntegrationXml(XmlDocument xmlSubmitDoc)

dynamically change column names in Crystal reports

I need to develop 3 pages.

On the first page user defines atmost 7 column names to be displayed on the report. I'm saving these names in a Sql DB table 'Columns' with Column_Nm and Column_ID as Table columns.

On the second page I'm retrieving column_Nm from the table and displaying them on the page so that the user enters the data. This data is saved in another table 'Summary' with the Columns column1 through column7.

on the 3rd page I need to show a report of 'Summary' table.

How do I dynamically replace column1 through column7 names with that of 'Column_Nm' on the report?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Scripting SQL: VBScript Interfaces in SQL Server 2000 Let You Transform Data and Provide Reports to

Application service providers often must send information to clients automatically rather than on-demand. For example, a manufacturer may want to know each day how many of their products were sold by a retail chain. While SQL Server is ideal for maintaining this type of database, you have to write scripts to get the data out in a client-friendly format. Here you will see how you can use Data Transformation Services (DTS), a powerful tool in SQL Server, to automate the retrieval and formatting of data from SQL Server 2000 and make the process of pushing data to your users a lot easier.
