Async WCF handler/module not calling IDisposable.Dispose() on IAsyncResult?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

From some of the posts I've seen regarding implementing an IAsyncResult it seems as if many implement IDisposable.  I'm playing around with async WCF on the server (hosted under IIS6 at the moment) and it doesn't appear WCF is calling my IAsyncResult's IDisposable.Dispose() method after calling the EndXXX() method.  Is it supposed to?

By the way I'm running against .NET 3.5 SP1.

http module calling order

Our site uses urlRewriter http module that does the url rewriting for us.

I want to create another http module that will handle our customize URL redirects. Now I want this new customize http module to be call before the UrlRewriter module (to avoid page not found messages the UrlRewriter generates). Is there a way we can contol the calling order ?

IIS 7 error Handler "svc-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" has a bad module "IsapiModule" in its module list

Hi experts, I'm trying to  host my WCF(3.5) on IIS7  and I get the below error.  HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error Handler "svc-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" has a bad module "IsapiModule" in its module list   I tried reinstalling >net 4(Some forum mentioned to do that) and also aspnet_regiis.exe -i in VS 2010 command prompt. Thanks in advance, KP Nothing helped.

How to write a module or handler or a filter for CDN?

I am in the middle of learning ASP.NET and now I am at the point where I would like to write a small module to change the url's of images, css and javascripts.

What I would like to do is every url that is rendered as, http://www.site.com/images, I would like to change it to http://images.site.com

Also I was wondering about what to do with the urls that are in CSS where it's mentioned as "../images/background.png" to something like http://images.site.com/background.png ?

Is this possible? If so then how do I proceed and where do I start from?

I am using IIS7. ASP.NET with .Net Framework 4. Not using MVC.

Any help or nudge in a write direction with some sample code would be appreciated.

IIS request filtering module

Hi folks,

I have migrated my web application to iis 7.5 Now I am using windows 7 as dev machine.

the problem is it takes several seconds to download a single page into web browser now. It contains only 300 records.

Everything is ok on prod website though. Prod version contains up to 200000 records .I can't also use code profile tool of red gate to analyze possible bottlenecks since the software in question can't restart IIS. No errors in IIS logs. I am using ISAPI Rewrite 3 filter by Helicon to apply some URL rewriting rules. I am thinking about conflict between ISAPI rewriting rules and default IIS 7.5 request filtering rules, since the IIS request filtering module gets a higher priority than even the built-in IIS 7.5 rewriter module. Is it possible to tweak the module through web.config so that priority is given to ISAPI rewriting rules or something like that?

Frankly, I spent several days to figure out solution. No success...

I've also deployed the application on IIS 5.1. Everything works fine. Any ideas about possible solution for IIS 7.5?

Calling webservice from the server

I have a sample web service and aspx file. I deployed them to an existing website that contains classic asp files.

web-service: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; [WebService(Namespace = "http://localhost/MyWebServices/")] public class MembershipRegisWebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { public MembershipRegisWebService () { //Uncomment the following line if using designed components //InitializeComponent(); } [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld() { return "Hello World."; } }

aspx.cs file: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.Services; public partial class CallWebService : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { MembershipRegisWebService mrWs = new MembershipRegisWebService(); Response.Write("Calling web service:" + mrWs.HelloWorld()); } }

It runs locally, but it shows an error when running it from the server:

Server Error in '/' Application. Compilation Error Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the follow

Creating Event Handler in Code behind

Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
