Add Service reference not updaing the client apps web.config file in .Net Framework 4.0

Hi Team

I am doing some experiments with WCF on .Net 4.0. I have created a service in 4.0 and add a new empty web application to consume my Service. When i added a service reference from the IDE, i can see the web.config file is not updated with the Servcie end points. How do i solve this issue?

My web.config in the client looks like this after adding the service reference.

First WCF Connection Slow and Proxy Settings in app.config file

I'm new to the WCF and currently facing problems with my first connection to a service we created to connect an Excel OBA to SAP. The first connection is extremely slow, approximately 20 seconds, but once it is establish everything goes really quick afterwards. I've read through some posts and seems like the proxy settings could have an impact. I'm pasting the code of my app.config file below, can you please let me know how I should modify it to include proper proxy settings to improve the first connection?

Also, the proxy thing is just a guess, is there anything else I could do to improve this? Any hint would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Creating User Profile Service application and proxy using PowerShell

Hi All,

Not sure if anybody have tried creating a new user profile service application and user profile service aplication proxy using PowerShell?

I am able to create the user profile service application using the following cmdlet:

-ApplicationPool "SharePoint Web Services Default"
-Name "Demo Profile User Service"
-MySiteHostLocation http://demo2010a:80/my
-ProfileDBName UserProfile_ProfileDB_Demo
-ProfileSyncDBName UserProfile_SyncDB_Demo
-SocialDBName UserProfile_SocialDB_SyncDB

I was also not able to supply the MySite Host Relative Path (-MySiteRelativePath) and MySites have not been set up for the user profile application. And again, get-help lists MySiteRelativePath as a valid parameter, but when executed, PowerShell throws that the parameter is invalid.

I am unable to create  a new proxy for the above created user profile service application using the cmdlet:

The cmdlet keeps asking for parameter Uri which seems to be undocumented.

Would be glad if anyone can help out here.

Setting of sharepoint 2010 custom WCF service "web.config" file for both HTTP and HTTPS

I have created a custom SharePoint 2010 WCF service that is deployed to 14\ISAPI\MYService folder. The issue i am facing is that this service should be accessible from all Web applications, that can be HTTPS (i.e. SSL) enabled or normal HTTP. If i am making in web.config file for web application that has HTTPS enabled, then it fails for Web applications having normal HTTP configuration. My requirement is that when this WCF service is deployed it should accessible from all web applications that can be HTTPS or HTTP both. I went through number of blogs and tried whatever option they had suggested but none of them worked for me :(. Here are some of the blog that i tried:-

Creating and Using an ASP.NET Web Service in Visual Web Developer

In addition to letting you create Web pages, Microsoft Visual Studio also lets you create Web services that use ASP.NET XML. Creating a Web service in Visual Studio is similar to creating a Web page. You can also use the Microsoft Visual Web Developer Web development tool to reference and use Web services that are in a Visual Web Developer solution, on your local computer or in a local or external UDDI directory. In this walkthrough, you will create the Web service in one solution and use it in another.

Tasks illustrated in this walkthrough include:

Creating a simple XML Web service in Visual Web Developer.

Creating a separate Web site that uses the Web service.

Any framework for creating a job scheduler service?

Just curious to know if there was any official Microsoft code blocks, classes, or such for writing a service that runs other assemblies or WCF services?  That can be configured easily from a web page, pre-coded, for running tasks at certain times on certain recurring intervals?  I've already built one but am open to anything done better- which I'm sure there is.  Thanks!!!

ISAPI Extensions: Creating a DLL to Enable HTTP-based File Uploads with IIS

The MIME-compliant content type, called multipart/form-data, makes writing HTML that uploads files almost trivial. On the server side though, ASP does not have a way to access data in the multipart/form-data format. The most flexible way to access the uploaded file is through a C++ ISAPI Extension DLL. This article describes a reusable ISAPI extension DLL that allows you to upload images and files without writing C++ code. It is coupled with a few COM components that make it readily reusable for ASP development. With .NET, this whole process is much easier, and this article shows preliminary code that uploads files using ASP.NET features.

Problems creating a BDC file that use a unique select statment

I'm trying to build an BDC file that will pull information back from two tables in an Oracle database, I can import it without any errors, but then it tells me I do not have a filter when I try and select an item.  When I add a filter I get an error when I import the file.  The error I get is the following.
"Application definition import failed. The following error occurred: The IdentifierName Attribute of the TypeDescriptor named 'TestDate' of the Parameter named ':TestDate' of the Method named 'Get_TestTwelve_List' of the Entity named 'TestTwelve' does not match any of the defined Identifiers for the Entity. Error was encountered at or just before Line: '133' and Position: '16'."

How to set WebService NameSpace in web.config file?

I am trying to put the namespace value as a key in web.config file, so that when I deploy this on production, I just have to change the namespace key in the config file only, not on all of my webservice cs files. But When I try to browse this webservice after changing this code I get compilation error.

    <add key="NameSpace" value="http://csi-dev-deep/"/>

MyWebService.cs (this code works)

[WebService(Namespace = "http://csi-dev-deep/")]

MyWebService.cs code changed to the following gives compilation error.
[WebService(Namespace = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["NameSpace"].ToString())]

Compiler Error Message: CS0182: An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Problem when using Activator.CreateObject and reading App.Config file

Hello, this is the scenario. I have an application that load at runtime severals dll. these dll are actually "adapters" that wraps calls to web services, database and so on. The app.config of the "main" application stores in config sections all information necessary to each adapter (i.e.Web ServiceURL..) and I have created inside each adapter a class to ready those values the loading at run time the DLL has been implemented by storing all necessary types into a dictionary of generics and when I need to instanciate it I call the Activate.CreateObject and I pass the specific type (I means the name of the Adapter class) The problem is that the adapter class itself is not able to get the config value because ConfigSection has not been initialized. If I write: IInterfaceAdap adapt = new myAdapter() -> I read the config data IInterfaceAdap adapt = (IInterfaceAdap)Activator.CreateObject (type) -> now way to read the data stored in the App.Config. I think that I undertood the problem but I'm not able to find a workaround to read data store in the app.config!! I need help please!!
