I'm trying to import an excel 2007 sheet into sharepoint 2007 to create a custom list. I get a run time error of 1004. When I click debug I end up in a VBA module BtnPublish at this line : rng.QueryTable.Delete ' delete query table if there is one on the range.

Problem with SharePoint Designer 2007 and Custom List Forms

I created several forms (Create/Edit/View) for a SharePoint list, using Custom List Forms.  I'm using Content Types in the list to ensure that each item only has the necessary fields.  When I created the ASPX forms, and inserted the Custom List Forms, I selected the correct Content Type, and I got the right fields inserted in the form.

Now, for some reason I can't identify, every time I create a new form, and insert a Custom List Form, SPD is bringing ALL fields from the list, instead of just bringing the fields included in the selected Content Type.

I have tried many different things to solve the problem, including creating new lists/content types/forms, etc. but SPD is doing the same thing all the time.

Can somebody tell me what may have gone wrong in SPD or MOSS?

Best way to update a Sharepoint 2007 custom list schema after it has been deployed to production

What is the best way to update a Sharepoint 2007 custom list schema file (that is deployed using a feature) after the list has been deployed to production.

Scenario: We have custom list based on a custom list definition and template that we have deployed to production. Users have added items to this list and also added their own new columns to this list apart from what we originally included. Now I want to update this list schema (add another custom column). Whats the best way to achieve that?

Also, a related question is that if a new <field> entry is added to an already deployed schema file, will pushing the new schema file to the right place be enough or will a feature deactivation/activation also be required? I have noticed that some changes to schema files are picked up without the need to deactivate/activate the feature. But whats the general practice for scenarios like this?

Sharepoint 2007 SP2 Email distro using custom list.

Here is my problem.

I have two lists, one is like an outage tracker that needs to send a workflow email to several group email accounts.

I can get this to work using a variable etc. But they would like the distro groups and members managed in another list where group email has members associated with it.

We use lotus so excahnge options are out the door.

The need is from the first list the user makes a choice from the email distro group category and the workflow emails all members assigned to that category based on the choice made.

List 1 Outage list where choice is made.

list 2 has ID, Title, Group email account, Members email accounts

The members is only a field with email also these users are not AD users or have accounts in our environment.

Hope this is not confusing?

Custom permissions for a list in sharepoint 2007

I have a requirement wherein I want to give a group permission to add document but not to edit them. I have already created a custom permission group. But the issue is that my document library has custom fields. So when a user of that group uploads a single document he is redirected to EditForm.aspx and when he clicks "OK" he gets access denied error(understandably). So I created an event handler to give the user edit permission on item adding and removed the permission on item updated. But now when I add a new document, a new folder or upload multiple documents, Item Updated event is not called and thus the permissions for that group are not removed.

Any ideas how to achieve this ?

Thanks, Tejas

SharePoint 2007 - How to associate a Custom List View with a Custom Edit Form. Edit link always re

Can someone give me a clue of how to connect a specific Custom List View with a custom Edit Form.

I have created a custom list, and I have created a custom view attached to that list.   I also have a custom CustomEditForm.aspx form created using SharePoint Designer.

I want to associate the Custom Edit form directly with one and one view only for a given list so that when the user clicks the edit icon in that view, they are linked to the custom Edit Form.  But all other views including the All Items view behave as normal, i.e. using the normal EditForm.aspx.

I can replace the EditForm.aspx in the Url with my custom form and it works fine, but I can't seem to figure out how to connect the custom view edit link to the custom form.  It always takes me back to the default EditForm.aspx page.

I have investigated the href="{$URL_Edit}?ID={@ID}" onclick="GoToPage('{$URL_Edit}?ID={@ID}') in code, which appears to  be how the URL is generated but I'm not sure how or where best to set the value of URL_Edit parameter so that I point to the custom Edit Form.  This is somehow getting passed into the custom view, but I'm not sure how best to set it for a specific non-AllItems view.

Does anyone

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).

Trying to send email using Sharepoint Designer 2007 workflow and email enabled list

I have a a list that recieves email. I have few fields that shows me the originator: "E-Mail From" and "E-Mail Sender".

I am trying to create a workflow that will generate an auto reply to the originator but the SPD fails to recognize the email address in these two fields. It's either truncating part of it or uses the html ( href=mailto:Demo@DemoSomething.com) in the To field.

Thank you,

SharePoint Designer: insert custom list not working anymore

Suddenly sharepoint designer decided today that it doesn't want to insert a custom list form anymore...
To be more specific, it doesn't work anymore in a site that uses the Microsoft budgeting and tracking template. In a website that uses an out of the box template, it still works.

It did work before, because I did it in other websites using the same template (it's broken there as well now).

Why oh why does SharePoint refuse to do this now?
I searched google and here on the forums, but all I could find was some issues after installing SP1, but we did that already long time ago and it was still working after that. I checked with our infrastructure guys and they didn't install new updates they say.

I also tried the solutions listed here: http://blogs.msdn.com/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx
But they don't fix the problem.

So my problem is, I can go to Insert > SharePoint Controls > Custom List Form
I pick my list, content type and form type, I hit OK and... nothing happens.

Sharepoint 2007 - Wiki site - New Pages Not Inheriting Custom Master Page

I am working on a SP site (MOSS not WSS) which is heavily customised away from the OOTB layout. I need to create a Wiki site, which was going well - I've created a master page which displays the miniconsole (this was not visible with our customised layout), and made it the default master page for the site. This has been applied to the two standard pages that come with the Wiki site, however when a new page is created, it seems to inherit the default.master, rather than my custom master page - thus not showing the miniconsole.

When I have created a new page, I am able to use SharePoint Designer to attach my custom master page to it, which works perfectly, however this will not be a viable option going forward as end-users create their new wiki pages.

How can I get the new pages to inherit my master page when they are created?

Deploying custom Web Parts on SharePoint 2007 production server

I would like to develop a custom SharePoint 2007 Web Part for a client. Currently I'm using Visual Studio to deploy my solution to a test environment (since it's a SharePoint Project I choose just Build -> Deploy from the menu). What are the appropriate steps to deploy it to the production server?

I'd like keep it simple and safe (i.e. use the principle of least privilege). Therefore (if possible) avoid using stsadm, achieve this through web interface, or avoid using administrative rights.

Also, can I specify the scope of my Web Part, i.e. choose on which Web Application or Site Collection will it be installed?

Custom Button (Sharepoint 2007)

I have a relatively small project to build a class sign up portal for my company.  I am about 90% done and this is one I have so far:

1 custom list off all classes called “Classes” (Class name, Data, teacher, etc, ..)

1 custom list of employees who signed up called “Signup sheet” (Employee Name, Class  name)

What I want is when you display a class information from the “Classes” list, I want a button on the bottom called “sign up for this class” that brings me to the new item page of “Signup sheet” with the class already filled in for you.  Seems easy on paper but I have been trying to do this for weeks.

I am ok with share point designer and am open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advanced,
