Upgrading to Enterprise edition of MOSS for Search

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I've successfully migrated from == Office SharePoint Server for Search (Standard Edition) ==to===
Office SharePoint Server for Search (Enterprise Edition)

Now, I'm trying to browse Excel services, BDC or use dashboard webparts but can't find it. Also, I don't see any option "Enable Enterprise Features ." as per link below.

Do I have to delete SSP and create new one? Or create new one and make it default? and then I get option "Enable Enterprise Features ." ?

I tried going this route too but there is an error.

Can someone provide steps or point me to any link/blog?

Thank you in advance, much appreciated.

Content migration from MOSS Enterprise edition to MOSS Standard edition

Hi,     I have developed a web application using MOSS 2007 enterprise edition. I have customized the site using custom ASPX pages, custom Webpart and custom features. Also I referred http://blog.brianfarnhill.com/2009/03/19/changing-list-forms-through-code/ for updating the contents of list forms. I have configured SQL-Form based Authentication for this site. Now I have a need to migrate this site to an environment which has MOSS 2007 standard edition and use a Active Directory Authentication instead of SQL-Form based Authentication. So can anyone guide me wether this scenario is possible or it will create any compatibility issue?      Which are the precautions I need to consider for performing this task? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks, Patav

Search Server Gatherer - Custom hierarchical protocol handler ISearchProtocol for MOSS 2010

Search server gatherer calls CloseAccessor() and shutdown() on ISearchProtocol after GetChunk() even if the FILTER_E_END_OF_CHUNKS is not returned. After calling shutdown() it stops calling the createaccessor() with new URL. I want to create a hierarchical indexing but I am not gatherer is not suporting this. The same piece of code is working fine in MOSS 2007, I am facing this issue in MOSS 2010 only. Is there anything changed in MOSS 2010 which is creating this issue?

Customizing Search Results page in MOSS

The Search Results page in MOSS seems to list the results as links by default. My customer asked me if I could customize the search results so that they show in a data view web part. Is this possible?

Upgrade SQL server 2008 R2 from Evaluation Edition to Enterprise Edition

Hello SQL Support group, I have SQl server 2008 R2 installed on a Win 2003 R2 and it is for our SharePoint and Project server 2007 environment. Today I noticed that we have only 75 days left! Seems like we installed it on evaluation mode. Here what we have on Helpàabout : Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Complete (expires in 75 days)    10.50.1352.12 We do have MSDN account, and we have the KEY that comes with the SQL server 2008 R2 enterprise. We would like to assign the key to our SQl server ( we want to have enterprise edition). It is in a production environment now. I would like to know how we can do it  with minimum of down time. I found this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2010/03/16/sql-server-2008-upgrading-to-standard-enterprise-edition-from-evaluation-edition.aspx On the internet, but doesn’t say anything that we are losing any data after upgrade or not. Please let us know the best way to assign the key, and if it has any impact in our data. Thanks Bahram

Search content of different languages in one language of MOSS

Hi, Hope you guys can help to answer this Search question. E.g. English MOSS is installed, content in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese are input to the system (either in Word/Excel file, ASPX page, Blog entry or Wikis page). In this case, how can the user search content by entering search keywords in languages other than English? The reason I ask this question is that: MOSS Search Engine uses English work-breaker/stemmer in the crawling and query process in MOSS English Version. Then, it cannot distinguish which languages are being crawled, e.g. pretending Japanese and Chinese as English when crawling the content. Is there any advanced way to solve this issue in MOSS 2007, besides installing various languages of MOSS in different servers? This problem exists in SharePoint 2003, so now I wonder if there is any improvement in 2007. As you know this is especially important in HK environment. Every customer ask the same question in Pre-Sales demo. Thanks in advance. Paul

Is there a way to make SPS 2003 search fields search the MOSS indexes?

Here's my situation: We're doing a gradual migration from SPS to MOSS. Can anyone tell me if there's an easy way to make the SPS search fields search the MOSS indexes? The easiest way I can think of is to great a web part for SPS which will gather the scope and search param and redirect the user to the MOSS search result page. If there's an easier way. I'm all ears.
