Activation error occured while trying to get instance of type Database, key "DBName"

Im using Enterprise library 5.0
I have a scenario, where I have to access two different databases in my application.

Basically this application is a webservice,delployed on my local for testing purpose.
I'm trying to access this web method from diffent windows application, default connection works fine but the other database throw's exception.

Problem is only my defaultDatabase is works fine, if I change defaultDatabase="MYCON1" with "MYCON2" it works fine, if I try to access the other database which is not default, throws exception.

<dataConfiguration defaultDatabase="MYCON1" />
<add name="MYCON1" connectionString="Data Source=server1;Initial Catalog=dbName1;User Id=Username1;Password=password1;"

" />
<add name="MYCON2" connectionString="Data Source=Server2;Initial Catalog=dbName2;User Id=Username2;Password=password2;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Database myDB=EnterpriseLibraryContainer.Current.GetInstance<Database>(); --> works fine for the default database (MYCON1)

Database myDB=EnterpriseLibraryCo

Writing Bitmap to Response.OutputStream - Generic Error Occured in GDI+

This is what I'm trying to do when I get the error on the server (it works on my local machine):

System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(filepath);
System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(image);

Response.ContentType = "image/bmp";
bmp.Save(Response.OutputStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp);

I don't think it can be a permissions problem because this works on the server:

System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(filepath);
System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(image);

Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg";
bmp.Save(Response.OutputStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg);

So how do I get this to work for a bitmap?

lists.asmx webservice an unexpected error occured

I have a sharepoint site and am using the list.asmx webservice to update rows in a list.  My code was working well.  For some reason, after doing a very large batch of updates, the same code now gives this error each time I run it.  The strange thing is that everything worked, I did a large batch then everything broke.  I switched to another site and it worked again.  I did a large batch and everything once again broke.

<Result ID="1,Update" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/"><ErrorCode>0x80131904</ErrorCode><ErrorText>The operation failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Result Code: 0x80131904)</ErrorText>

An error has occured in sharepoint 2010 foundation

I'm having problems with installing SharePoint foundation 2010. Istallation finishes without any errors and the configuration wizard just as well. But when I the try to open the following url (http://server:port/_admin/adminconfigintro.aspx?scenarioid=adminconfig&welcomestringid=farmconfigurationwizard_welcome) a blank page with the text an error has occurred. Also, after turning customerrors off and httperrors to custom, I get a 500 error when accessing the central administration.

Because of some research I have done I found out that turning the pipeline mode to classic instead of integrated fixes that issue. But if I do that I cannot access any page anymore (e.g. the /default.aspx). I get a 404 - not found.

Any help is very much appreciated.

A generic error occured in GDI+

We have a big app running on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard x64 Edition .

Problem is that we dont know where it happens but from time to time we have in log of errors this kind of error:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException: A generic error occurred in GDI+.

  at System.Drawing.Graphics.CheckErrorStatus(Int32 status)
  at System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawLine(Pen pen, Int32 x1, Int32 y1, Int32 x2, Int32 y2)
  at System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox.DrawGroupBox(PaintEventArgs e)
  at System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox.OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.PaintWithErrorHandling(PaintEventArgs e, Int16 layer, Boolean disposeEventArgs)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmPaint(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox.WndProc(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)

  at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Do you know what can be the reason? application is not compiled for x64 platform is compiled for 'AnyCPU'.Another thing is that application is running via Citrix. And under .net framework 2.0

Error occured when using SPWeb or SPSite in webpart

I am creating a custom webpart, in which I have a label control. This label will display the current site URL and here is the code

protected override void CreateChildControls()
            SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.Web;
            string baseURL = wb.Url.ToString();
            Label lblTitle = new Label();
            lblTitle.Text = baseURL.ToString();

But when I try to use SPWeb or SPSite within CreateChildControl method, I am getting an unexpected error occurred message. Also I have used "using Microsoft.SharePoint;" too.

If suppose I comment those two line my web part is displaying the properly. As below

protected override void CreateChildControls()
            //SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.W

Error Occured - Three state workflow

I faced this issue and was able to resolve it. I am hoping this will
be helpful to someone who might get into trouble using the default
three state workflow.

I created a list and tried to use the default Three state workflow.
The workflow was enabled to start as soon as a new list item was
created. It started and the status was "Error Occurred". Being a Java
guy I didn't know where to look for this error. I checked the Event
Viewer but not much help. Is there a log file for Project Server

Here is the reason why this happened. I had to go through most of my
fields in the custom list to understand what was causing this problem.

I had a field called Owner and I had enabled this option "Allow
multiple selections: ". This caused something to break in the
workflow. I am assuming it cannot handle a Person/Group field that
allows multiple selections even though none of the list items actually
had multiple persons selected.

Hopefully this will help someone in the future if they enable any
Person/Group field to have multiple selections.

Generating proxy with netcfsvcutil - An error occured in the tool -> How to generate proxy?

I'm currently trying to generate a SmartDevice proxy from a WCF service and that fails. Initially it complained that the NETCF doesn't support wsHtpp, so I changed it into a basicHttp binding and rolled https into it. After changing a lot of things I managed to get my server to properly start, but had the testclient complain that it was unable to generate a proxy because the connection was forcefully closed.

So I undid ALL the HTTPS changed and use plain http. It's not secure, but at least it works for my development purposes. When I start the test client, it generates a proxy and shows up fine. However, when I run my netcfsvcutil from the commandline, it gives me "An error has occured in the tool." follow by a "An error has occured in the application".

This is how I call the tool:

netcfsvcutil.exe http://localhost:8080/WhereIsPatrickSvc/mex

And this is my entire config file for the service;

<?xml version="1.0" encoding=

Error "Error occured in deplayment step 'Activate Features'

I started to work with SharePoint 2010 List and Event Receiver. So i startete the Hole 2 from the Microsoft Page (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C010FC68-B47F-4DB6-B8A8-AD4BA33A35C5&displaylang=en)

HOL02 - Developing a List Definition and Event Receiver in Visual Studio 2010
This hands-on lab walks you through building a list definition for SharePoint 2010 in Visual Studio 2010. It also shows how to build an event receiver for the list in Visual Studio 2010 and deploy it to SharePoint. After the list and event receiver are deployed, you can use the developer dashboard to evaluate the performance of the event receiver.

So I created the SharePoint List Definition in VS 2010 Beta. On Step 13 (Page 13) i want to Build / Deploy the Solution to the SharePoint 2010 Server. But here comes the Error "Error occured in deplayment step 'Activate Features'". Witch freatures VS2010 has to aktivate on the SharePoint 2010 Server? What can I do to solve the Error.

When i like to write an Event Reciver a Coustum List (Test) don't show up in the List Menu in Visual Studio. What can I do to write a Event Receiver for the Coustum List Temp?

Thanks for your Help
