Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi there,

I am looking for a webpart that has similar functionality like the pageviewer webpart, but that can render external websites and even downscale/downsize them to be completely visible in smaller sizes (e.g. in a webpart zone of a webpage).

Does anyone know any good 3rd party webpart or something opensource?

Custom webpart with linqQuery works on all sites but not on the "my profile" page in the overview ta

Hi, I created a publication site and in that site i created pages with specifique metadata (using a pagelayout with a custom content type)0. My webpart is getting data from those pages and displaying it. My webpart works on every page except on the "my profile" page(overview tab). I get the following error: Invalid Url: /TestSites/course I used the SPMETAL to create a class and i'm using this class to retrieve the data from the pages (with linq). The url i give to the entity is http://pcp/TestSites/course  this works fine on every site except on the my profile page. Can anybody help me? Here is the code i use to retrieve my data: EntitiesDataContext ctx = new EntitiesDataContext(courseSite); //Code below gets only the pages with a courses contentType. //EXCEPTION TRIGGERT ON THE FOLLOWING LINE IF IN PROFILE PAGE EntityList<Courses> course = ctx.GetList<Courses>("Pages"); //Writing the query to get the correct pages(with the course page layout only! var Query = from myCourse in course.ToList() where myCourse.CourseParticipants.Contains(myWeb.CurrentUser.LoginName) Select new{myTitle = myCourse.CourseTitle, myCompany = myCourse.Company, myPath = myCourse.Path, myName = myCourse.Name }; Thx.

Databound Hyperlinks in ListView. Need to open external sites

Good Evening,

This site is ASP.NET 4.0 connected to a SQL 2005 backend.  The database has a table that, among other things, lists the names and URIs of external sites for reference purposes.  A webform has a ListView control bound to an ObjectDataSource that pulls the data from this table.  The ItemTemplate and the AlternatingItemTemplate have been edited so that they contain this HyperLink:

                            Text="Route Map"
                            NavigateUrl='<%# Eval("Maplink") %>' />

The page renders the data normally but the HyperLinks aren't working as intended.  For example, the datatable record might contain
But when the HyperLink is created in the ListView, it comes out as:
which, of course, fails.

How can I set up the HyperLink to route to the external site and ignore the local domain path?

Thanks for any suggestions.

How to Authenticate User on External Site Using IFrame (Dynamically created in SharePoint WebPart)

I've a situation,

- External Site : This site has its own user store (user/password) to log-in to.

- SharePoint WebPart : This webpart will get some readonly data from External Site but for performing any CURD operation on the External Site the user has to Log-in to External Site using IFrame Mechanism (This login form has to be of External site, and UserName/Passwordd should be posted to login-form of External site) sharepoint shouldn't be collecting any user/password credentials. (how can we do this?)

How user gets authenticated in External Site:

1. user Provides username/password.

2. Once authenticated to User Store it set an Authentication Cookie in use browser, thus uses this cookie with every request to perform any CURD operation.

I've to have the similar functionality in SharePoint Webpart. using IFRAME.

Hope i covered all the points in my explaination, if you can provide any blog/code which is dealing with similar kind of approach.

Connecting to an External Content Type with Dataview Webpart

Has anyone else seen that since the release of RTM you can no longer connect an External Content Type with the Dataview webpart through SharePoint Designer?  When you select a ECT, you can display it as a XsltListView Webpart, which works - but provides way too much overhead code if you want to do extensive customization.

so the process I went through in Beta2 was to select an 'Empty DataView' then attach the ECT as the datasource.  They now does not show up as a datasource option.  I even tried doing some manual hacking and it just crashed my designer :)

Anyone know if this functionality was purposing taken out.  Right now I am having to do a SQLDataSource vs. BCS to do the customization I need.

Status List WebPart or KPIListWebPart missing when create sites based in a site template that has it

Hi Everyone,

I have a site collection in SharePoint server 2010, and within this site collection I have a site. This site has KPIListWebPart or Status List WebPart. I have added this WebPart through SPD 2010, because through SharePoint you cannot add this particular WebPart.

The problem is the following:

The site (with the Status List WebPart) has to be a Site Template, in order to allow the users to create sites as needed. In the site, the Status List WebPart works perfectly, but when I create a new site based in the site template, the Status List WebPart is missing.

Any idea why is it happening?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

SharePoint Tutorial - Team Sites

Team sites are small web sites that are created to store everything about a particular thing. For example a site can be created for a department in an organization like human resources. I site can be created for a particular project. A site can even be created for a meeting. Everything about the thing (department, project, meeting) like documents, lists, calendars, etc. is stored in that site.

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).

2 Web Sites

Does anyone know if it is possible to pass a Session variable from one web site, to another web site?  I am writing both.  They are located on the same server - but with different URL's... different projects...

Handling external C++ exceptions

Hi. I'm working in a application that uses an external .Dll developed in C++ language. According the business rule, the .Dll can throws one exception if it found a error. My question is if it's possible handle or catch a exception throwed by the C++ dll? The try/catch doesn't works. Bellow there's the code I'm using to call the C++ dll.

        public extern static IntPtr LoadLibrary(string lpLibFileName);

        [DllImport("kernel32", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)]
        public extern static IntPtr GetProcAddress(IntPtr hLibModule, string procName);

        public extern static bool FreeLibrary(IntPtr hLibModule);

        private delegate void DllMethodCallBack(string param1, string param2);

        public void CallDllMethod(string param1, string param2)

Privacy issues are of primary concern to those involved in Internet commerce. Some consumers are hesitant to provide information to Web sites without clearly understanding how their data will be used and with whom it will be shared.

XML Schemas: Take Advantage of Existing External XML Schemas with a Custom Import Framework in ASP.N

Over the years, many industry-standard XML schemas and dialects have been developed. These industry-specific schemas embrace the original purpose of XML and are extremely valuable in promoting and supporting B2B interaction. Unfortunately, the ASP.NET Web Services runtime does not allow developers to directly reference external schemas from within their XML Web Services interface (the WSDL file). This article builds an external schema framework as an extension to the ASP.NET Web Services runtime to enable you to reference external schemas within your XML Web Service interface.
