Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I made my research and I cant beleive VSEWSS dont come with a 64 bit version. I heard Visual Studio 2010 has a work around but not for VS 2008? Any patches? Is anyone developing WorkFlows with 64 bit environments ? Suggestions please! :)

Sharepoint server not installed error

Hi geeks,               Actually I installed Sharepoint server ie., MOSS 2007 in system (Windows server 2003) and am using Visual studio 2010 ultimate. When am add new Sharepoint connection to my Visual studio 2010 it throws me error "A Sharepoint server is not installed on this computer. A Sharepoint must be installed to work with Sharepoint projects.".               I don't know what to do with it. Can you guys help me out to access my sharepoint site to my VS 2010.    Thanks, Karthick.

Do SharePoint 2007 and VS2010 have to be installed to the same Windows Server machine?

For WSS 3.0 development using VS 2005, I learned that we need to install VSeWSS to the Windows Server where the WSS 3.0 was installed.  For MOSS 2007 development using VS 2010, do we need to have VS 2010  nstalled to the same Windows Server?  Thanks, Jeffrey

SQL Server 2008 R2 deploying any version of sharepoint results in extremly slow DB creation

Hello, When installing any version of Sharepoint(2007,2010) during the "Creating Configuration Database" Step it takes over 10 hours to complete.  Then creating a web app takes just as long. and the sites are extreemply slow.  Environment: 1) DB Server - SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 2) Webserver - to host Sharepoint 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 The Servers are on the same network and running with lots of horsepower, disk and memory.  Are there any know issues with this and should we install Cummulative Update 3? Maybe that has a fix.  We exhausted all our options and need justification to apply the CU3 hotfix(s). Thanks for your help.

Error - The evaluation period for this version of SharePoint Portal Server has Expired

I am using SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and in the app log I'm seeing this error "The evaluation period for this version of SharePoint Portal Server has Expired" which I believe is causing the search service to not work and I can no longer sign in to the SP central admin console. While I did not perform the install myself it has been running for over a year and according to MS the SP PS 2003 eval was only 120 days so I assume the full version was installed.  Any idea's? There are a couple more errors in the event log but I assume they are symptoms and not causes. SharePoint Designer Error - Unexpected error on server associating the workflow

I am creating a multistep workflow with multiple Approval steps.  When I get to step 7 or the 7th Approval step and try to publish it, it states that "Errors were found when compiling the workflow.  The workflow files were saved but cannot be run."  With "Unexpected error on server associating the workflow" in the advanced section.  This same error occurs at other stages of the approvals as well.  If I put another process/action in the step, the workflow runs without any problem.  Thanks for the help! Cannot Restore Backup from Sharepoint Server 2007 to Sharepoint Server 2010 Trial Version

After installing the trial version of Sharepointn 2010 I wanted to restore my Sharepoint 2007 sites to it but received the following error:  "The site collection could not be restored. If this problem persists, please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space." I went on to create a new content database in sharepoint 2010 but it still did not work. The old database i.e the one used by the sharepoint 2007 server is SQL 2005. During the installation of the sharepoint 2010 version I selected SQl Server Express for the database. Is there any specifics for migrating from MOSS 2007 to sharepoint 2010? Thanks for helping

Sharepoint Server 2007. Sharepoint Designer workflow not starting for one user only.

We have created a custom workflow in SPD that is attached to a document library within a MOSS 2007 teamsite.

The workflow is set to trigger when a new item is created in the document library.

Previously, the workflow has worked fine for all users but recently has stopped working for one user only.

For the problem user, what we are seeing is that when a new item is created in the document library, the attached workflow never starts.  There is no error, the workflow just does not get triggered.  However, if the problem user goes to an item in the document library and clicks on the workflow she can manually start it and it works fine with no error.

This user has the same permissions on the site as others who do not have any problem.

In the course of investigating this problem, we have temporarily increased the problem users permissions on the document library to full control (was contribute before) but this has had no effect on the problem.  Authentication is being done via Active Directory.  We have tried removing the user from the site and re-instating her but again this has no impact.

Does anyone have any idea how we could fix this problem or further debug it?

When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as "Failed to Start".

...

myLibrary.Files.Add(...);

myLibrary.Update();

...

Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.

Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)

What am I missing out here??

Sharepoint Server 2007 says KB979445 already installed

We have just set up Sharepoint Server 2007 SP2. When everything was complete no updates were showing as being needed.

I next ran a Nessus scanthat said the following:

Product : SharePoint Server 2007 / SharePoint Services 3.0 Path : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\\bin\mssph.dll Installed version : 12.0.6422.1000 Fix : 12.0.6529.5000

It told me to apply MS10-039. When I tried to apply the patch it said it was already installed but when I looked at the file versions of several files for that patch my server had older files than what is included with the patch.

If the patch is already installed why the difference in file versions. Am I protected from the vulnerability or not?

SharePoint Designer Workflow Server Error

Hello.  Has anyone seen this problem before?

I'm developing workflows in SharePoint Designer 2007.  I have full permissions on the site and in SPD.  One day for no apparent reason, I can't save my workflow and start getting "Server Error: Access Denied" messages.  Also, site contributors cannot manually start the workflows, they get "Access Denied" on the workflow library.  This was all working fine the day before.  Here are more details:

ASP.NET version 2.0 session state not installed on SQL Server

The fix for this error message is to run aspnet_regsql -ssadd. I have run that uptown, downtown and in my lady's chamber and it does no good, although it never complains. Are there any other possibilities?

Details:

IIS Server: v5.1 running on XP.

SQLServer 2005 running on a different XP box.

Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3615; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3618

There is an ASPState database on the server, containing only two tables: ASPStateTempApplications and ASPStateTempSessions. I did not use -sstype when I ran aspnet_regsql.
