How to set up the unknown member properties?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi, I have the following set-up

IntermediateFact_Account > Dim_Account < Dim_Advance < Fact_Advance

There are other Dimensions and Facts to the "left" of the IntermediateFact_Account, which needs to be able to have a relationship with Fact_Advance on the far "right", so for this to work, I need to create a referenced relationship between IntermediateFact_Account and Dim_Advance.

The problem is that for every Dim_Account "parent" PK, there are not always a corresponding Dim_Advance "child" FK. But for every Dim_Account PK there are IntermediateFact_Account. So when I set up a Referenced Dimension Usage relationship between Dim_Advance and IntermediateFact_Account via Dim_Account, I will get the following error:

Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing: Table: 'dbo_VW_DIM_CO_Advance', Column: 'DIM_CO_Account_DWSK', Value: '{425DA434-4745-4B6F-8BFC-870F620DBD90}'. The attribute is 'DIM CO Account DWSK'.

So that seems to follow that I must set up "unknown member" settings and change the Error Configuration (although this is not strictly an error but a legitemate scenario. I did the following:

1) In Dim_Advance set the following properties UnknownMember - Visible; UnknownMemberName - OrphanedAdvances
2) In the Dim_Ad

Member properties not propegated from parent to child

Hi guys,

I have a parent-chilld relationship in one of my dimensions. In the parent attribute, I have about 5 member properties. None of these member properties are propegated through to the child, though, so when I browse the parent-child hierarchy, I can't see any of my member properties.

Any ideas?

Order of Unknown Member amongst Other Member Values

I have a dimension where I have enabled the Unknown Member and set the Null Processing attribute to the Unknown Member.  I've noticed that when I do this the Unknown member is always ordered last amongst its siblings when viewing the dimension within the cube.  I'm wondering if there is a property I can set or if there is some other way of changing it so that the Unknown Member is ordered first among it's sbilings.

WCF Tip: Using Properties in Service Contracts

you'll notice all of the Service Contracts are implemented with interfaces containing only methods. For the longest time I thought that's all that was supported, until I thought about it a little more. In C# land, properties are simply wrappers around a get method and set method, so why wouldn't we be able to use properties in a service contract? Well the answer is we can.

Automatic vs Explicit Properties

If the reason that motivated the change from automatically implemented property to explicitly implemented property was to change the semantics of the property then you should evaluate whether the desired semantics when accessing the property from within the class are identical to or different from the desired semantics when accessing the property from outside the class.

Dependency Properties

When you begin to develop appliations with WPF, you will soon stumble across DependencyProperties. They look quite similar to normal .NET properties, but the concept behind is much more complex and powerful

Xml File Methods and Properties

Method and Properties of XmlTextWriter class:
The XmlWriter class is a base class that outputs an XML data structure. It has methods to sequentially write XML elements in a proper hierarchy to create an XML file or other types of output streams. The System.Xml namespace provides support for the XmlWriter. It must be imported to the ASP.NET page with the directive

<%@ Import Namespace="System.Xml" %>

The XmlTextWriter

XmlWriter is an abstract class that is implemented as an extended XMLTextWriter class. The XmlTextWriter writes a sequence of XML nodes one element at a time. Output can be written to an XML file, although other streams of output data can be produced. It can create a new file or overwrite an existing file. Its non-cached writing techniques provides very fast generation of an output stream.

Get Member from LDAP using C# 2.0

I'm currently writing a process where I need to determine if an User on my LDAP string is an Admin.

How can I accomplish this?  What would be the easy and quickest way?

I've been trying to use the code below..... Any feedback is greately appreciated. Tks

LDAP Problem with .NET - Unknown error (0x80005000)

I am trying to create a proof of concept to show how to connect to an LDAP
server and how to search for values but I do not get anywhere. Here is what I
have so far:

Dim objEntry As DirectoryEntry
Dim objSearcher As DirectorySearcher

objEntry = New DirectoryEntry("ldap://www.openldap.com/dc=OpenLDAP,dc=org",
Nothing, Nothing, AuthenticationTypes.Anonymous)

objSearcher = New DirectorySearcher(objEntry, "(ou=People)")
objSearchResult = objSearcher.FindOne()

If Not objSearchResult Is Nothing Then
'Do something
End If

Catch ex As Exception

result.Text = ex.Message & vbNewLine & ex.Source

End Try

My code fails at the line:
objSearchResult = objSearcher.FindOne()

with the unhelpfu error of Unknown error (0x80005000)

As you can see I use the www.openldap.com directory and I can connect
anonymously using the Softeerra LDAP Browser 2.5

Any help would be greatly appreciated

PS: I know there is already a similar thread (http://forums.asp.net/thread/1028020.aspx) but none of the suggeste

Unknown server tag 'abc:tagname'

I have looked for clues in this forum but to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you,

C# conversion to VB and properties

I am trying to implement image caching for a web application and I found some code on the Internet that implements an HttpHandler that does this. The code was in C# and since my web app is written in VB, I decided to convert the code to VB. I managed to convert everything except the following code (in bold):

public class FileExtensionCollection : ConfigurationElementCollection
        public override ConfigurationElementCollectionType CollectionType
                return ConfigurationElementCollectionType.AddRemoveClearMap;

        public FileExtension this[int index]
            get { return (FileExtension)BaseGet(index); }

I've got a class

  public class Criminal

public HouseholdMember[] LiedAboutFSHousehold { get; set; }

      public HouseholdMember[] FoodstampTrafficingHousehold { get; set; }
HouseholdMember inherits Person, as do many other classes.

  public class HouseholdMember: Person

Advanced Basics: Setting Word Document Properties the Office 2007 Way

The last time I wrote this column (March 2006), I shared an application that allows you to update all the Microsoft® Word documents in a folder and its subfolders. Each time the application finds a document in the specified path, it updates the document properties to match those you specified in the application.

Advanced Basics: Set Word Document Properties Programmatically

At the beginning of another lovely day of writing courseware in mad pursuit of unrealistic deadlines, I received a frantic call from a business partner. He was at the end of a long consulting project and had several hundred Microsoft® Word documents, all of which required their document properties to be set identically, except the Title property of the document, which was to be based on the document file name, minus the .

Deserializing nullable model properties

Hi everyone,

I'm posting Json data to an action that has a model class as a parameter using the JsonValueProviderFactory. Everything works except for any nullable properties in the model, such as double? and bool? - they always materialize as null, even if a value is posted.

I'm not sure if this issue is specific to the JsonValueProviderFactory, or MVC in general.

Being new to MVC I'd appreciate any help with this issue.
