Shared Datasource in Windows integrated mode - Not able to use subscriptions -> is there an other op

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi all,

We have a SharePoint 2007 and SSRS 2008 in intergrated mode. For cell security we use Windows authentication, which works well. Now we would like to use the create subscriptions option but it doesn't work since we use Windows authentication.

Is there an option to use Windows authentication for the ad hoc requesting of a report and the stored credentials for a subscription?

Subscriptions using Windows Integrated Security (Datasource)

Hi All, Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....."What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be honest and creates an ad

Subscriptions cannot be created, Sharepoint Integrated mode

Error when I try to add subscription: "Subscription cannot be created because credentials used to run this report are not stored." I have SSRS 2005 and WSS 3.0 both installed on a Windows 2008 x64 Server.  SQL 2005 is the database, which his on a 2nd server (also Win 2008 x64). I'm able to publish reports to sharepoint.  I'm able to view them in sharepoint web parts, but only when I set the credentials for the datasource to "stored connections" and check both "Use as windows credentials" and for "Set execution context to account". Everything I read seems to say that I have to use Stored Credentials.  That's what I'm doing though.... necessary in order for me to view the reports within sharepoint.   Other environment things that may be important: The Report Server App Pool is using a domain account.  The same one I'm using to execute the report.  The WSS Content App Pool and the Sharepoint Central Admin App Pool are also using domain accounts.  However all 3 are using different accounts.  I see reference to Kerberos vs. NTLM authentication.  Up to this point I've not had to completely understand that.  So the only thing I do understand about that is that in my Sharepoint Central Admin --> Application Management, Auth Type: Windows; Anonymous is NOT checked, an

Custom Shared Data Source (SHP Integrated Mode)

I've seen this answer for Reporting Services several times: "You cannot use a data source expression in a shared data source".

My question is: Is there any chance to use data source expressions in a shared data source at Sharepoint (Report Builder 2.0)?

Thanks in advance,

Intranet Users Challenged When Using Windows Integrated Security

We've setup an intranet site using Windows Integrated Security. Its up and running and users can access it. However, they are being challenged with a login dialog for the server when they initially access the site.

Isn't is possible to configure the server so that the users aren't challenged AND are recognized as being already authenticated by Windows? We're trying to go with a seamless experience, whereby all they have to do is login to their machine like normal and then go from there.

Cannot export from a Report in SharePoint integrated mode in a server hardend environment

We have installed Reporting Services 2008 integrated with MOSS with SQL Server 2008 on a 64 bit platform.

The environment has worked fine in test (but the servers are not hardend).

With the production environment, any attempt to export from a report into another format (eg excel, tiff etc) results in an unexpected error within SharePoint requiring closing the browser and reopening.

There are no details behind the error. We can also find no traces of the error within any of the logs (SharePoint, Reporting Services, Windows event log etc)

When the report is opened directly from Reporting Services (ie http://servername:8080/reportserver) the report exports fine. Similarly, if the report is opened directly from Report Builder 2, or through opening Report Builder 2 from SharePoint there is no issue. This issue only happens when the report is invoked directly through SharePoint.

We can only assume that this issue has something to do with server hardening/UAC as we have

SSRS integrated mode email subscription to AD dist group

I have MOSS 2007 running SQL 2008 SSRS integrated mode and have created some reports and report subscriptions. Everything is working great. Now I want to use an Active Directory Distribution Group as a recipient for a report subscription - does not work, however the "last results" show no error. Try again using Dist Group in TO: field but adding regular email in CC: field...only email in CC field receive report, again all successful. Does SSRS integrated mode support AD distribution groups? if so is there any special setup required? Thanks LmmMmmm...yummy...

SharePoint Integrated Mode

Has anyone successfully configured SharePoint integrated mode in SQL Server 2008?  When browsing to the web service url, it throws an Object Reference Not set to an instance of an object with no other information given.  This is a very common error which i trust everyone experiences.  I would just like the resolution.  I've seen many posts on forums regarding this exact error with absolutly NO solutions.  Since I cannot browse to the web service URL, trying to view a report in SharePoint is secondary.

Report Builder 3 report preview error in SharePoint integrated mode

Hello folks! I've faced some strange error with RB 3.  My environment is: Win 2008R2+SQL2008R2 CU3+Sharepoint Foundation services 2010 SharePoint services integrated with Reporting Services.  When I try to run RB3 from SharePoint library and built some report I get strange error at the previw screen : Failed to preview report. The item 'http://myserver/cd6409dc-1089-4e8a..' cannot be found. Details: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The item 'http://myserver/cd6409dc-1089-4e8a-a2a4-f231c97039aa' cannot be found. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ItemNotFoundException: The item 'http://myserver/cd6409dc-1089-4e8a-a2a4-f231c97039aa' cannot be found.    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportingService2010Impl.CreateReportEditSession(String Report, String Parent, Byte[] Definition, String& EditSessionID, Warning[]& Warnings)    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportingService2010.CreateReportEditSession(String Report, String Parent, Byte[] Definition, String& EditSessionID, Warning[]& Warnings)  The most intresting thing, that my test environment with Win 2008R2 CTP+SQL2008R@ Nov CTP is working properly without any error. Could you please advise how to resole this problem? Thanks in advance, Andre.

Sharepoint integrated mode, any side effect ?

Hi, We planned to switch from native mode to sharepoint integrated mode our SQL Server Reporting Server. But it is a production server, so we liked to know if any side effect can happened on existing report and if it is possible to switch an existing database into sharepoint integrated mode ? Thanks, Mathieu Perrin.

Setting Title on SSRS (SharePoint Integrated Mode) subscription.

I have some subscriptions in SSRS where the report goes directly to a Document Library on Sharepoint.  The subscription works fine, however, I would like to have the Title of the report be the current date that the report is run.  Is there a way to put a formula such as =[today] in the Title field of the File Options section on the Subscription properties?  I have tried this but either it is not possible or I am not using the correct syntax.  Thanks, Tim Olig

While trying to view a report in integrated mode i see an unsupported RPL stream error

Trying to deploy a report in integrated mode on MOSS 2007. SQL server version is 2008 R2. I see the following:   ??? ?????????? ? ????м???? ?? ??????? ????????? ??????. ?????????? ?????????????м?? ?????? ?????? RPL: 34.62.1836345404. ??????м?? ??????: 10.3.     Yes i know its in russian. Another fail of Microsoft not being able to see the error codes and strings in english language, makes finding solutions even harder, because first you must find HOW is this called in english, then look for solution. Okay so, i found out that it is actually transalted into: unsupported RPL stream version detected 34.62.1836345404 expected version 10.3 Now, everywhere around the webs they say that this is because my Add-in is out of date and i need new RS addin for MOSS 2007.  But the link is dead!    For example, here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/61357765-52aa-4085-9ee0-4cb494a6c3ad   @For SQL 2008 R2 together with WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007, you need the SQL server 2008 november CTP add in:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=44bda62c-0cda-4a99-8d0a-d7fe06b39422 But the link is dead and there is no hint as to what happened.   The only valid link i found is this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=65606fdd-093f-4c

Passing Credentials to IIS "Integrated Windows authentication" Protected Directory

Hello All,I have set up a directory on my IIS web server that is protected by "Integrated Windows authentication".  I want visitors to be required to enter a name and password to view files in the protected directory except if they are following a link to files in the protected directory from a certain page on my website.I am doing this to try to get better protection from search engine spidering than is provided by using a robots.text file. I am using ASP.NET 3.5 with VB.  I am wondering if there is a way to pass the log on credentials to the IIS server via a link, or if there is a way to fill in the name and password for the login screen automatically, or something else that would work.  It is OK if the login name and password are visible to the visitors.Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated or if there is a better way to accomplish what I am trying to do, I would like to know. Thanks

Have templatefield in edit mode and datasource defined in code behind

VS 2008 Design Mode Hangs on Windows 2008 Server

I have looked at all the posts I can find on this problem and tried everything I can think of, but still the problem persists. I am getting really sick of it. It was working fine for the last year until an update to MS Office 2007 caused a lot of problems (automatic update). After checking posts here, I removed it completely. No change. I then tried all the things I could find on other posts, also no change. Today, I removed VS and the Web Authoring Component and re-installed. Still no go. Does anyone have a fix for this problem. It seems that it has been around a long time, but is still giving problems. I even saw one suggestion to reformat the drive! You've got to be joking! Help please, I'm getting desparate.

SQL changes from Mixed to Windows auth mode after SQL updates

We run a SQL 2005 cluster on Windows 2008 in Mixed authentication mode.  The last two times we have applied a SQL security patch, it automatically changed the auth mode from Mixed to Windows-only, taking our applications offline.  Most recently was today, when we applied KB970892. Can someone explain why this is happening and how we can prevent it?
