How to convert project developed in WPF into Silverlight

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I have created a project in WPF and now I want to convert it into Silverlight. I am not creating any animation or 3D for my project. I am simply sending the request and getting the response and displaying it.

Can anyone let me know how to convert project developed in WPF into Silverlight?

Can't add MDF file to Visual Studio 2010 Silverlight example project.

I have Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.  And I've downloaded and installed Sql Server 2008 R2 Express.

I'm going through a Silverlight trainging module and using the

Silverlight Business Apps: Module 2 - WCF RIA Services

example application.  The database included (as an .mdf file) won't attach in the project.  I get this:

"Connections to SQL Server database files (.mdf) require SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server 2008 Express to be installed and running on the local computer.  The current version of SQL Sever Express can be downloaded at the following URL:......"

But of course, I have the most recent version.  Now I did have SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installed before and it wasn't working either.  I got a different error concerning the version of the .mdf file.  In an attempt to resolve this I un-installed the 2005 version.  Now I've got a functioning default instance of Sql Server, but I notice it's not listed as .\SqlExpress as the 2005 version was.

Can someone help me get this working?  Do I need to change the name of the SQL Server instance in order to for Visual Studio to be able to attach?

I also can't attach the file using SQL Server Management Studio, but I think that's because the file has the path to the Log file somehow

Error while using Silverlight class library in .NET 4 Client Profile project

Failed to figure out where to post this problem.

I have two projects in solution: Silverlight 4 assembly and Console application targeted .NET 4 Client Profile. There's an interface in Silverlight assembly which has a return value typed IEnumerable<IPEndPoint>. In console application I'm trying to implement this interface. I have the following error compiling console application project: 'PeerToPeerNameResolver' does not implement interface member 'INameResolver.Resolve(string)'. 'PeerToPeerNameResolver.Resolve(string)' cannot implement 'INameResolver.Resolve(string)' because it does not have the matching return type of 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<System.Net.IPEndPoint>'

I've never defined my own class IPEndPoint, nor IEnumerable<T> interface. How can I get rid of this error? Method code is

		public IEnumerable<IPEndPoint> Resolve(string name)
var peername = new PeerName(name, PeerNameType.Unsecured);

Serving Silverlight Apps from Windows Mobile

Even if mobile dev is not my every day work, thanks to the .Net Compact Framework, it's still .Net programming.

Here is the scenario:

You come back home, you have a windows mobile phone wifi capable and you want to quickly get access to your phone pictures from your home network.
You just activate the Wifi, run my app and then browse to the provided link from any computer on the network.

Project Example: ASP.NET MVC + SubSonic Architecture

use of SubSonic to provide the DAL in association with some ASP.NET MVC sites and was waylaid in my original intent to throw up a post summarizing the architecture we're using for the effort. Well I've finally gotten around to it. Recall that in his fake it till you need it post, Dave provided a window on our architecture that I'll build upon here

Building a 3-Tier App with Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Azure Table Storage

Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Windows Azure Services Platform makes a 3-tier Cloud application easier to build: Silverlight 3 as presentation tier, .NET RIA services as the business logic and data access tier, and Windows Azure Table as the data storage tier. The sample application in this article demonstrates the architecture with a simple Survey application with all these technologies working together from Windows Azure.

Silverlight Simple Animation

Silverlight has several built in techniques for animating controls. Many of these technologies are particularly useful for creating simple animations meant to decorate a web page with eye catching movement that draws the reader's attention. In this post I will skip over these decorative technologies, and instead show how to create a simple animation using a technique similar to those used in many games.

Silverlight Slideshow Viewer for SharePoint

This series will walk through the Building Blocks that I have created to demonstrate and improve the SharePoint end user experience. I have been using many of these techniques in my developer focused demos for SharePoint 2010 (and in some cases SharePoint 2007). My plan is to use this post series to distribute my code and provide more detail on the why and the how of many of my code samples

Easier Silverlight Development against SharePoint

I have been spending quite a bit of time lately working with Silverlight 3 and SharePoint. One of the first big shifts for me is that Silverlight Development is Client development. Silverlight runs in the browser, but it runs on the client, so no SharePoint Object Model code. You have to access all of the goodness that is SharePoint through its web services.

WPF / Silverlight tutorial: Visibility property and binding

Visibility property is a very powerful and yet often overlooked property available in both WPF and Silverlight. It enables you to set Visibility of certain UIElement objects to different states like: Visible, Collapsed and Hidden (not supported by Silverlight). This tutorial shows you how to use it and how to bind to Visibility property

Integrate Reporting Services with Silverlight and RIA Services

One of the most wanted future features in Silverlight is the possibility to create business reports using Reporting Services. In this article, I will show how to use the existing Reporting Services technology with Silverlight and RIA Services combination.
