I am aware of a version dependency on the stsadm -o backup/restore operation.
But will the same dependency exist for a content DB backup restore..
i.e. for example will we able to restore a content DB backup taken from a server with version say 188.8.131.5277 to a server with say 184.108.40.20666 assuming that the versions of SQL is the same in both cases.
Will the version difference in SQL create issues
Thanks in advance
I recently exported/imported an SP2010 site collection from Dev to Prod. The site collection had about 90 sites, which were all driven from a site template. Once the export/import had taken place, I created an additional 15 sites (in Prod), using the original
site template that was created in the Dev environment. Everything seemed to be working just fine, but I found an issue with the Picture Library Slideshow Web Parts (PLSWP) on all the sites that were created in Prod. Basically, I have a Picture Library, and
any pictures added to this library show up in the PLSWP. The original 80 site's PLSWP works fine, but the new 15 sites will not show the pictures through the PLSWP (the viewer just shows up blank). Here is the difference in the html output of the picture viewer:
PLSWP from Dev:

I'm just trying to move a site collection to a different server (to a virtual machine). I used the backup and restore feature in central administration but I'm not able to view the site on the new server. Is there some step I am missing during this migration?
We have a sharepoint and using sql 2008r2 server. We found that everyday it backup to a folder spbrXXXX where XXXX is a serial #. It also has a xml document that track its backup. In each of these folders is a butch of bak file. When
I check the sharepoint admin site, it said it is backing up everyday to this folder. How can i remove those folders that are more than 2 weeks? I need to have a way to control this folder from continuously growing. Our sharepoint is only
a few weeks old and the folder is 36Gig big already.
How can i stop the uesr to enter the offencive and restricted words in the sharepoint blog site ?
I created a blog site. Can I set up a workflow process for when a comment is created. The comment MUST be approved/declined before it is posted. Is this possible via the front end?
