Sharepoint 2010 - breadcrumb not updating correctly from layouts.sitemap

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

I have some custom ASPX pages that I used in Sharepoint 2007 that I am now putting onto Sharepoint 2010. They use the layouts.sitemap file to update the breadcrumb trail when they are navigated to in Sharepoint. However when I put them into Sharepoint 2010 and make the same modifications to layouts.sitemap the breadcrumb trail is not updating correctly. It is only showing the current page in the breadcrumb and not where it was navigated from.

Any ideas why this would not work in Sharepoint 2010?

Many thanks,

    Charles.

Javascript error when attempting to switch page layouts in SharePoint 2010

I hope I put this in the correct forum. I am experiencing the following error when attempting to change the layout of an existing SharePoint 2010 page. But it does not seem to happen on all page types, just publishing pages. This error is happening on both the development server and both test servers. I have look in to the logs, since if it a javascript error there was nothing, which would be expected but I had to try. I have look at the cui.js file but was unable to spend enough time trying to figure out what exactly is going on in this file. Error being received ... Incomming Email Not Working Correctly in SharePoint 2010

Hello everyone, We recently upgraded from SharePoint 2007 to 2010. Prior to the upgrade I had two SharePoint Document libraries setup to receive incoming emails. We had two reports scheduled in Reporting Services and each report emailed a document library once a week. After the upgrade this stopped working. The reason this stopped working was because the file names of the attachments were the same each week, however in 2007, sharepoint would append a random 4 digits to the end of the file name. Was the removed from 2010 on purpose? After discovering this didn't work, I decided to create a workflow on these lists that anytime and item is added go change the file name to include the list ID to ensure that the file names will be unique. Only to find out that items added to the list from the incomming emails do not trigger the workflow. Doing some research on this and it looks like it was turned into Mircosoft as a bug in 2007 which had a fix, but the fix is only for 2007 is doesn't say it applies to SharePoint 2010 so I don't want to install it. Anyone know if there is a fix for this in SharePoint 2010? Thanks in advance, Matt

Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Sharepoint Outlook Public Contacts Firstname Lastname Not Updating Correctly

Users using Outlook 2007 Sharepoint public contacts have been having problems where firstname lastname have amalgamated into lastname.

eg.
First Name John
Last Name: Doe

Appears as

First Name:
Last Name: John Doe

I had the user change the first name/last name within Outlook Sharepoint public contacts but this does not reflect the change in other users Outlook contacts.

e.g. User 1 (Outlook 2007) modifies existing contact to

First Name: John
Lastname: Doe

User 2 see's

Updating sharepoint 2010 list using infopath 2010

Hi,

i have a InfoPath form that is updating a SharePoint list when it is submitted. Now i added some extra Fields to the Sharepoint List. All these new Fields are empty till I open the InfoPath form and hit the submit buttion again.  For eample:

I have created a quarterly vacation form with a user name and employee number.  Also I have 3 months listed by work day ( Employee name, Employee Number, 1-1,1-2,1-3...(january 1st, 2nd, 3rd...)

The employee opens the form and searches for their employee number.  The first time the form appears with their name and number with all the months NOT checked.  I tested that I am on the right record by manually updating the record then running the form to get the necessary information by employee number.  It fills out the for correctly.  But it is when I want to change that information and place the changes back that I am having a issue with.

If InfoPath can't handle this would Visual Studio be able to do this?

I am using InfoPath 2010, Sharepoint 2010, Exchange 2010

Problems after updating the portal to SharePoint Server 2010

Hello everyone.

Updated the portal to SharePoint Server 2010 (Database attach upgrade).
Process was completed: Status - Implemented Fault - 0 Warnings - 25

After updating the portal is available, the content can view, add, modify, add to the libraries and lists of new

columns. However, had this problem. If you change the view of a list of child nodes, it is redirected to a page

... _vti_bin / owssvr.dll? CS = 65001 with the message "Error. The list does not exist."

Changing view from the root node of the collection is fine. The same situation is when you connect SharePoint Designer

2010. The root node is connected, to a child - displays an error - "Version Microsoft SharePoint Foundation, running on

the server is newer than your version of SharePoint Designer. You need to install a later version of SharePoint

Designer"

In the logs record additional information about the error does not contain.

Set up alternative access mapping. Tried to restore from a backup, reconnect the base content - did not help. "Lost"

objects do not found. Test-SPContentDatabase no issues.

Tracing calls to the database content revealed the following fact, when changing view procedure

proc_GetTpWebMetaDataAndListMetaData not share information about the list.

Need advice on updating SQL Server 2005 Build 09.00.4035 to Build 09.00.4220 for SharePoint 2010

Hello SQL Server specialists,

Please give me some advice on updating my SQL 2005 Server Build 09.00.4035 to Build 09.00.4220 (Cumulative update 3 ) for SharePoint 2010.

I'm stuck with the following questions:

Will I need to install previous cumulative updates in order to install cumulative update 3?

Has anyone installed SharePoint 2010 on an SQL 2005 Server before, any things I should consider when doing this?

Build 09.00.4220 (Cumulative update 3 ) is the minimum build needed to install SharePoint 2010 is it ok to run with the minimum build or would you recommend me to update to another build ?

I'm looking forward for your advice!

Kind Regards,

NiJor

Accessing Oracle Table data and updating using SharePoint 2010 List

Hi,

We are trying to access Oracle database table through SharePoint 2010 List. The functionality required is, the user should be able to read the data from the Oracle table in to the SharePoint 2010 List and should also be allowed to update the list and in turn the data should be updated back in to the oracle table.

Over and above any changes made to the oracle table by users, should be updated in the sharepoint 2010 list. Which means the users require a two synchronisation from SharePoint 2010 List to Oracle table and vice versa.

let us know if anyone has worked on this before.

How to get more information about the exceptions that can happen in SharePoint 2010 projects?

In case there is an exception anywhere in the SharePoint 2010 project (most common place an exception would happen is during deployment of your SharePoint project, custom deployment configuration or custom deployment steps), there's a registry key EnableDiagnostics available for you to use.
