User Profile Syncronization - Stuck in Progress

Hi all, I have been working to get some of the MySite properties exported to Active Directory (such as thumbnailphoto). Today, I created a new domain service account (sa-sharepointadds) and granted it the nesecarry permissions on the domain. In SP, I configured the User Profile Sync to connect to the domain and do a full sync (import only at this time) which completed correctly. I then enabled exporting a couple of profile properties and started another sync. I saw in the Application Event Log that an error occured, so I used the FIM Sync Service Manager application to view the steps and the errors. I saw that the sync was running with my sa-sharepoint service account which is the Farm account and not the sync account sa-sharepointadds, and that a permission error occured because this account has no rights to modify Active Directory. I went into the User Profile Sync Connection and verified the correct account was in use and it was. I then went to Security > Configure Service Accounts and saw that I needed to change the service account for the User Sync service. I changed it to the sa-sharepointadds account. I went back to User Profile Sync, however my connection had disappeared. I tried to create a new connection and got the error that a sync is already in progress and that I cannot make changes until it finishes. I knew that nothing was currently running, so I did an iis

MySite user profile site creation of My Content page is created as provisioned failed (unprovisioned

I've been trying to troubleshoot our User Profile Sync and have noticed the profile pages weren't getting updated with everything. Most content was but things like memberships and the content tabs weren't. I also saw this error in ULS: ProfSynch: Exception attempting to enumerate site 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e for ContentDB 23a6e3ef-6d56-4bde-825e-95c6924e2f91: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ProfileSynchronizationInternalException: ProfSynch: The site with ID 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e cannot be synchronized due to an unprovisioned root web. at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.GetSynchInfoForSite(SqlDataReader dr, SynchInfo info) at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.<get_Elements>d__0.MoveNext() I checked in the MySite database under the webs table and noticed all the My Content sites for all of our users had the flag column with the number 1315 in them - (meaning unprovisioned as the error above states). Cross checking with the User Sync Profile database under the SiteSynch table I noticed all of the sites have NULL for the value under both the LastSynch and ChangeToken columns (The User Profile Service Application - User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization timer job takes care of populating that).&

Is there a way to undo/remove/delete an active directory user profile syncronization? [SP 2010]

I successfully managed to synchronize the active directory with Sharepoint 2010. Unfortunately, the farm I was on has different FQDN /Netbios domain names. So all ~1000 user profiles are now imported with the wrong domain, and the subsequent errors one would expect.

Is there a way to get back to a blank slate? technet has an article on "resetting" profile synchronization (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff681014.aspx), but that requires being able to verify the GUID of the user profile synchronization database, which I am also unaware of how to do.

Please help, and thank you in advance.

can't start User Profile syncronization Service or FIM services

Using 2k8 R2, SQL 2k8 SP1 CU5 and Sharepoint 2010 RC. Standalone install with DC on separate server

Install to vanilla AD - can't do anything until I can get this service running and I can't run it because when I try to start it and I get a screen that lists the Service app - fine - but the service account is greyed out and listing NTAuthority\NetworkService - it demands a password but of course I can't priovide one. Can't select a different Service account because it's all greyed out - even if I create a new managed account and add that as an Admin to the Service Application

FIM services both won't start either -

Out of box install and nothing works - hardly bodes well

Anyway - seen lots of posts on problems with starting this service - anyone found a solution?

Cheers

Jonj

User Profile Syncronization in SP 2010 .. just reads starting.

At some point i was in the configuration area for user profile synchronization connections, but for the life of me can't find it now.

I did change the service account for the service and attempted to start it, but now it just reads Starting and I can no longer figure out how I even got into the page that would allow me to add a new connections. I've rebooted - no luck. I see nothing in the event viewer or timer jobs.

Thanks.

Login Failed for User "XXX" when login from a ETL machine for Sql Server 2005 SP2

Hi Guys, I have a straange issue with Login Failed errors coming intermittently probabaly twice in a week: I have a production Database on Server A and we have Two ETL servers on Server B and Server C. Sometimes when the ETL's (SSIS) run from SERVER B I do get an error stating login failed for user "XXX" this user is a sql server user. And when I run the same package from Server C it does not give any error and runs smoothly. Both the packages uses the same configuration file to connect to the same database with the same user credentials. Also this error is not a frequent error but comes along once or twice in a weeK. Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know the root cause. Both servers have the same sql client version as well. All servers mentioned above are 64 bit windows 2003 servers. Raju

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in starting the Process for the User

Could someone help with this please? I'm using VWD 2010 to build a new web site - I tried to add a new database file but it won't do it. I started by clicking on the folder 'App_Data', then right clicking and selecting 'Add new item' - after that I tried to add an SQL Server Database but received this message... 'Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in starting the Process for the User Instance' What does this mean? How do I start the 'Process for the User Instance'? I imagined all that was done for me at the install stage, when I installed VWD2010, but it appears not. Thank you for any help at all. Regards

SharePoint BDC - User Profile - 1:Many

Hi everyone, sorry for the long post, but I thought it'd be better to give all the information just in case there's a better way to do this. Basically, here's our scenario, we have a requirement to have Customers searchable in the people search (as in which employee sells to which customers). We have a sql database with 3 tables: - employees(columns: userid, username, displayname); - customers(columns: customerid, customername); and - employeecustomer(columns userid, customerid) - we also have one view UserCustomer(columns: username, customername) So we've tried to create the BDC Applciation Definition on the view. Here is the Entity Portion of the Application Definition file: <Entity EstimatedInstanceCount="10000" Name="EmployeeCustomer"> <Properties> <Property Name="Title" Type="System.String">username</Property> </Properties> <Identifiers> <Identifier Name="customer_name" TypeName="System.String" /> <Identifier Name="username" TypeName="System.String" /> </Identifiers> <Methods> <Method Name="Get_EmployeeCustomer_List"> <Properties> <Property Name="RdbCommandText" Type="System.String">SELECT custo

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local appl

Hello everybody.I am working on Login control and I am new in ASP.NET. So far what I did is :1. In Website->ASP.NET Configuration I change the form authentication to internet.2. I created a user profile3. This gave me a ASPNETDB.mdf database.4. I added this code :<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer" /> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> in web.config file.4. I added login control to my login page :<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Login.aspx.cs" Inherits="Login" Title="Untitled Page" %><asp:Content ID="MainContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContentPlaceHolder" Runat="Server">
Please Login
<asp:Login ID="LoginAuth" runat="server" > </asp:Login></asp:Content> 5. And the login.aspx.cs file has :using System;using System.Collections;using System.Configuration;using System.Data;using System.Linq;using System.Web;using System.Web.Security;using System.Web.UI;using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;using System.W
