I don’t know much about the search settings in SharePoint. I have a requirement like I want to enable the people search for one of the SharePoint site which was
created by someone else.
I know that people search will be activated by default if we choose the site template as collaboration portal, but in this case I am not sure about the template they
used to create. By the way is there any way to find out which site template they used to create the site; that is apart.
What are the settings required to enable the people search in MOSS 2007.
I have SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise based intra.
I have added People search box.
Why I click the Search Options, it opens the fields top of the webpart below the search box.
So basically 2 webpart looks like they are top of each others.
SharePoint 2010 offers a search button "Find People", but when I am trying to find people its not picking up anyone on the same site.
Is there any solution for this?
Can we pull out all names with a single search (like other applications as facebook, when we do not enter anything and hit search button, it gives out all the names),
is there any work around?
I am experiencing an issue with the People Search Box Web Part.
When I click search options on the "People Search" web part that I have added to my Staff Portal front page it doesn't seem to render correctly. The toggle teaser tries to expand out the options but I can see the content that exists below it.
After this clicking on one of the list web parts I have and selecting the next page pf the list causes the page to fully re-render and I can see the "Search option" toggle teaser properly.
I'm wondering if this is behaviour that anyone else has seen when configuring their People Search?
I know I can turn the Search options off but this seems like a bit of a cheat and I'd rather have the functionality working properly - especially if this is a symptom of something more radically incorrect with how I have configured my front
Thanks in Advance
I got an error while trying to access the people picker from some specific locations. I'm experiencing those problems ONLY in the cental administration and also there, just on a few places. For example if I try to change the authorization settings of
any service application there is a different people picker pop up than, for example, if I want to change the admins of any service application. Any other people picker window outside the central administration works for me.
So it seems to me, that there are two different types of people picker windows. The one which is not working for me also appears in the metadata service application which is the reason I can't use this service as I'm not able to define an owner of a
In the error log I found the following message: "Ausnahme im Forderungsanbieter 'Alle Benutzer' beim Aufruf von 'SPClaimProvider.FillHierarchy()': Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt."
It basically says: An exception occurred in 'all users' claim provider when calling 'SPClaimProvider.FillHierarchy()': The object reference was not set on a object instance. This is event-id

Anyone know how to setup so that Sharepoint 2010 crawls Sharepoint 2003 people?
We have tested adding a new content source called People with a content source type of sharepoint and used sps://site.domain.com/site$$$people as the start address.
When trying to SAVE/OK we get the following error.
The start address "sps://site.domain.com/site$$$people" is not valid for this content source type.
I am new to sharepoint, we are using sharepoint 2007 at work.
And I need to create a page that does a search on the contacts list.
I was wondering if there is a way to modify people search webpart, so that it performs search on the contacts instead on the "People" ?
If anyone has any idea or suggestion would be appreciated,
People search for AD user is very slow, takes about 40 seconds to find a user. We are runing MOSS 2007 SP2 (64 bit win 2008 STD) and have 2003 AD. DC is local to the MOSS serers. Network and DNS are ok too. What esle can I do to
fix this issue.
After user perform a people search, a list of people will be displayed with a summary, like name, title...and the picture. Is there a way that I can add more fields to this display, that is to display more information? Is this something to do with
the User Properties that I set up in Central Admin. e.g moving those the properties that I want to show to the top? And I want to display a total of 9 properties for each person in the search result list. Is that possible?
Please advice. Thanks in advance.
