Office 2003 integration with MOSS 2007

The users seem to have correct permissions on the site.

Office 2007 Documents Open in Read-Only when Opening them from a WSS 2.0 Document Library

Hi, When any of our Windows 7 Pro computers that run Office 2007 Pro attempt to open a Word document that resides in a WSS 2.0 document library by using the drop down menu and selecting "Edit with MS Word", the documents open in read-only.  Our work-around is to save the document locally, modify it, and then save it back to the document library. We have some Windows XP and Vista systems that run Office 2007 and they are fine and can simply edit the document and save it.  We also have a handful of pc's that run Office 2003 and they are not having any issues either. Things I've tried: Office 2007 Repair - no luck Office Reinstall - no luck Some registry mod HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12\Internet\OpenDocumentReadWrite=1 (noted on a MSKB article) - no luck and after re-reading the article it clearly states that this will not address content hosted on WSS or SPS sites Clearing IE temp files, resttting IE to defaults - no luck Once again, this only seems to happen to Win7Pro pc's that run Office 2007.  Honestly, I can't tell if IE8 has anything to do with this. Any thoughts or help would be extrememly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

SharePoint 2007 - Opening an office document in portal demands authentication

Hi there,

Environemnt:  SharePoint 2007, SQL Server 2005

In order to get into Intranet portal it is required to enter USERNAME, PASSWORD [WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION]. That has been working fine for few years.

Now when the office document is opened it demands authentication, requiring the end user to enter username and pasword again. Can this be reverted? Once the credentials are entered first time to get into Intranet portal it should allow office documents to be opened without demanding authentication?

To simplyfy I would like to avoid the second time authentication while opending office document from SharePoint portal.

Help is appreciated.

Custom Properties in Office 2010 won't promote to a document library in MOSS 2007

My company has built out their intranet portal using MOSS 2007, I have been asked to create a document library using an Excel 2010 form as a content type and to promote custom properties to the library.  In the past using Office 2007 I have been able to create an excel form as an content type and promote custom properties as metadata in a library.  I have done this by creating named ranges for the cells that i want to be promoted, in custom properties i linked the field and named it the exact same name it is in the library.  When i upload the form using those custom properties the properties promote into the library, it's when i select new and use the content type that the properties some how get lost sending it to the server.  I also noticed that when i enter information in the fields that i set as custom properties that the field isn't updated in the document panel that is located at the top of the document.  Can some one please help me if I am doing something wrong or could it possibly be an integration issue with MOSS 2007 and Office 2010.

Advanced Basics: Setting Word Document Properties the Office 2007 Way

The last time I wrote this column (March 2006), I shared an application that allows you to update all the Microsoft® Word documents in a folder and its subfolders. Each time the application finds a document in the specified path, it updates the document properties to match those you specified in the application.

Unable to open pdf from document library MOSS 2007

When I click on a pdf document uploaded in a document library it comes up with a blank page.

I guess it's trying to open pdf on the browser. I turned off "Display PDF in browser " option in Adobe Preferences, but it doesn't help, same issue.

I tried other browsers too, it's the same issue.

I am able to open all other pdf files local to my machine fine.

I am using IE 8 on my machine (Windows 7) and the Sharepoint server is MOSS 2007.

Sharepoint 2007 Document Search and Highlight in Office 2007 and PDF

We will be implementing Document Search (DOC, DOCX, PDF, TIFF, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX) for one of our customers. We were evaluating a few MOSS 2007 based solutions, and happened to visit your site.  What we intend to achieve are the following functionalities:

a.       User should be able to search through 1000s of documents which are in a Sharepoint Document Library

b.      The documents could be in English, International Languages.

c.       Each document is 70-100 pages, and therefore it is important that the Search Results show the relevant pages on which the Search Text appears (Get Highlighted) within each document . Clicking on the link will take the user to the right page.

d.      The additional requirement is Synonym search. So, I can search for

Users are receiving errors when trying to check in documents.

Seperate out the Document Libraries to individual Sites in MOSS 2007

We are using the MOSS 2007 with SP2. We are having three different Document Libraries for three different projects under same site. We have the requirement to migrate each library to shift to the individual sites. We need to do this with all the content, settings and and the permissions. It's fine to migrate the database and settings individually i.e. content database seperately and site settings seperately. Is anyone have this kind of migration?

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

MOSS 2007 and Word/Excel 2003

Hi, I am working with MOSS 2007 and building a context webpart which contains links to various places. One of the the links is trying to go to a Bookmark in a Word 2003 document. Upon attempting this it only goes to the top of the document and not to the expected bookmark location. I then tried to define a named range in an Excel 2003 file and had Sharepoint point to the named range. The same behavior occurred, it simply went to the top of the document. Here is a code snippet which points to the excel name range called Base: <A href="http://tserver4/sites/HALBI/GON/Shared%20Documents/Parts.xls#Base"> Does anyone know of any issues with this scenario?
