Error while Rendering Reports(Reporting Services 2005) in .Net 1.1 web Application on IIS 6.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I developed an ASP.net 1.1 web application that is written in VS2203 and I am using Reporting Services 2005 to render some reports in PDF Format. My problem was it is working fine in local (XP) and Production environment (Windows 2003 Server).fromo long back the solution was not working for my integration Server which has windows 2003 Server (1.1) and we installed the 2.0,3.5 frameworks. It is throwing an Object refernce error while render the report. Is there any permisions or  something missing.

I have wasted so much time in a finding a solution and I appreciate any help in that.

Reporting Services 2005 now rendering PDFs differently!

We have a server running SQL 2005 and Reporting services. We have a Report we use to generate purchase orders and email the resulting PDFs to our vendors. All fields in this Report use Times New Roman, either 10 or 12, point, some bold, some not. This report has not changed in months.

Since Monday our vendors are reporting they are unable to copy and paste text out of some of the sections of the report. They get question marks, or boxes, not the text. This only happens on some of the fields in the report.

Neither the report nor the database has changed. SQL Server was upgraded over the weekend to 9.0.3282, the CU9 update. There may have also been some security patches applied, not sure which.

PDFs generated after the upgrades now have an additional font listed in the File | Properties dialog of Adobe Reader 9. It's a TrueType font.

Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge about how the PDF rendering component of MS Reporting Services may have changed? Any help would be welcome.

Rendering Reports in Reporting Services 2008 in Sharepoint Integrated Mode

I have created a site collection using the Report Center template. I successfully deployed my VS2008 Reporting Servivces project to the Sharepoint site. However, when I goto the reports library and attempt to run a report I get "unknown error" message"

Also, I can create a dashboard consisting of one of my reports. However, when I attempt to view the reports via the dashboard, I get the following error message:

An error occurred during client rendering.

The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. A report definition (.rdl), report model (.smdl), resource, or shared data source (.rsds) file must be located within a library or a folder within it.

Reporting Services SQL 2005 .Net 4 compatibility?

I've been working on my first asp.net application and for the most part it's been pretty smooth.  Right now I'm having trouble getting reporting services working under SQL Server 2005.  I developed the site with Visual Studio 2010 and didn't think about any of the .Net 4.0 compatibility issues that have arisen.  I'm having no problems with the site communicating with SQL Server 2005 for the regular database stuff.  The only problem I'm having is with setting up Reporting Services.  I have the .Net 4.0 framework installed on the server, however Reporting Services is still using 2.x.  I'm not sure if this is a problem with SSRS or with IIS.  When i go to localhost/Reports it's reading my web.config for my application and throwing an error: "Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'."  This is referring to a line in my web.config where targetFramework is set to 4.0.

Software that I'm using:

  • Visual Studio 2010
  • SQL Server 2005 Standard
  • IIS 7.0
  • .Net 4.0

Any suggestions?

RDL Rendering (500 Internal Server) Error at Sharepoint Integrated Reporting Service

I have a serious problem that cannot be solved by googling around the keywords below:
sharepoint, moss 2007, reporting service, ssrs 2008, rendering, internal server error, ....

The error is;

"An error occurred during client rendering. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. "

Everything is O.K.;

* When I render the report from the REPORTSERVER (http://localhost/ReportServer)
* When the reports are scheduled to be sent by the reporting service (planned via MOSS 2007)

But if I open (render) the RDL file from the sharepoint REPORTS LIBRARY interface, all of the reports fail with that internal error message above.

It is weird also that parametrized reports are displayed without errors although the parameters are queried from a sql dataset. But I got the error when rendering the report after I've chosen a parameter  and order "apply/report"...

Possible causes how I met that error may be;

After I have installed (then uninstalled) AJAX extensions
After I have re-configured IIS Web Service Extensions list items

Possible solution alternatives I've found;

I've found a solution on MSDN replying a similar issue with an ideal cause of the error but an evreka answer but no sol

Error installing SharePointRS (Reporting Services AddIn)

I trying to install the SharePointRS AddIn on the SharePoint-Maschine. The installation runs and after the setup does something, it rollback the installation and informs me with just a message, that it was not successful. After searching for the installation log, I've found it in my temp folder. The error was:
"Install error: The 'Mapping' start tag on line 83 does not match the end tag of 'ByExtension'. Line 139, position 7.".
What means this error? How can I solve it?

SQL Server 2005: Install reporting services - which version?

Hello - I installed SQL Server 2005 as part of an SBS2008 install. I need to install reporting services, but now I'm having trouble identifying which version (X64 or X86) I'm running. Is there an easy way of figuring out which installation disk I need to insert for SQL Server 2005? Thanks, Nick.

"An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" eror - reporting services issue

We are getting this error: "An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" from time to time - 70% of the time when we are trying to use a printer button within report manager. It happens if we preview report or just print it. We noticed if we restart RS services, the error will stop for a little bit and then starts again. We don't print that much and it will come back after just a few reports printed. Let me know if you had a similar issue. thanks!
