Having that next great innovative idea is only half the battle-getting it heard is the real challenge.

We released WoVS last friday around mid-day. Since then, that is, only two days later, its Community section has received 36 different ideas for new VS features and improvements to existing ones. THIS IS JUST AMAZING!
Some of the more popular submissions so far are VS Roaming, Stack Overflow integration, and a built-in Chat!.
I am working on web application in which all of the data I am submitting back to the server is being done on the client side using JQuery AJAX calls to my .NET web services using JSON. This works perfectly to enhance my user experience and greatly reduces post backs, etc.
What I am looking for suggestions on is securing the web services being exposed to the client side from being used by anything but my JQuery code on my site. The security hole that I see here is that since the client-side JQuery can access the web services, so could anything.
Any ideas? What is the best practice here?
I was asked to set up a sharepoint site for SOX after a 2 day sharepoint training (yup..that's right as if i have all the knowledge to do this right?) so ..I am in need for some ideas on how to start and what should i include...
Thank you everybody!!
The following is my scenario. I have been handed a list which has 180+ columns! The principal reason there are so many is the same set of 5 columns has been repeated nearly 30 times to capture multiple instances of the same type of data e.g. date1, detail1;
date2, detail2 and so. Horrible. I would like to take the data in this list and push it into a new list which has 1 row for each of the instances of the dataset e.g. it just has a date, detail column etc and consequently about 140 less columns! Complicating
matters is the fact that one of the columns contains data in a multi-select lookup from another list in the same site.
I am trying to achieve this using Office tools only...e.g. Access, Excel, perhaps SharePoint Designer...I don't have dev skills, although I could ask others.
It seems to me I can work with these lists connected to Access and write a query which would get the data into the correct format but the multi-select lookup column causes issues:
Any suggestions on how I might go about thi

I'm performing fullcrawl and I was examining results in table: MSSCrawlURL. I found that table is filled ErrorID: 560 - Error in the Site Data Web Service. Does anyone have any ideas what maybe causing this issue?
Here is the SQL statement I ran:
FROM [WSS_Search_CC-CLINTRA54].[dbo].[MSSCrawlURL] where ErrorID != 0 and DisplayURL like '%sharepoint.ccf.org%'
Group by ErrorID
I am planning on using a File Watcher task to have an SSIS wait until a file is submitted. This seems to work ok. However I want the package to launch itself again once it completes, or schedule itself to launch again in a couple of minutes. That way I could
relaunch the task after it has processed and moved the current set of files. That way it would process loads more or less as they are exported by the source systems. I'm not even sure how to approach this problem as its not something I've done with SSIS in
the past. The current solution uses batch files and DTEXEC so I'm guessing its scheduling via the windows scheduler. I would lean towards SQL Server Agent personally but that's just because I'm looking for something that will expose what jobs are running to
me more easily than investigating processes.
I also wanted to know if it was possible to see what other packages were already running. That way if a package inadvertently launched while another instance of itself was still processing it could just shut itself down. I may also have dependencies between
packages. So if package A was running, package B should wait rather than processing any of its files, and vice versa. I could do this by logging the packages in and out of a cusotm locks table, but that feels unweildy and the package may crash
out and not "unlock" cor
I posted an question but I think I may have put it in the wrong forum.
When trying to create a new Search Services Application (after deleting old one) I get the following error:
An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Some or all identity references could not be translated.
This is the only application that gives me an error.
