The following code gives error: "When casting from a number, the value must be a number less than infinity."

Click.CommandParameter null when binding on Button inside DataGrid DataGridTemplateColumn

I am having trouble getting a Click.CommandParameter to pass through with a bound Click.Command. I have a DataGrid with a DataGridTemplateColumn that contains a couple of Buttons. Using a suggestion found on the forum (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wpf/thread/541024a9-3d7e-4c6a-b88e-9a7eb7ee83a9), I was able to get the Click.Command to bind to the right command, but when arriving in the corresponding method in my ViewModel, the parameter is null.  Here is my xaml for my DataGridTemplateColumn <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Case">  <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>   <DataTemplate >    <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Center">     <Button Content="Open" Margin="6,0" command:Click.Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type data:DataGrid}}, Path=DataContext.OpenCaseCommand}" CommandParameter="{Binding}"  />     <Path Data="M1,1 L1,2" Stroke="#FFCCCCCC"/>     <Button Content="Rename" />    </StackPanel>   </DataTemplate>  </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn> I used Snoop to see what was going on. How can I pass a NULL value as [in,out] argument to a COM method using late binding?

Suppose I have the following method in a COM interface defined in a C++ IDL:

[id(8)] HRESULT MyMethod([in,out,defaultvalue(NULL)] LONG* value, [out, retval] BSTR* returnValue);

Now I want to call this method passing in NULL for the 'value' parameter using late binding in C#. How can this be accomplished?

The following works if I want to pass a non-null argument as value:

         Type type = Type.GetTypeFromCLSID(new Guid("{7DA7BD6A-3E11-4E6B-BDE3-7C968A085F94}"));
         object instance = Activator.CreateInstance(type);

         object[] arguments = new object[] { 101 };

         ParameterModifier modifier = new ParameterModifier(1);

         modifier[0] = true;

         type.InvokeMember("[DispID=8]", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod | BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.Public, null, instance, arguments, new ParameterModifier[] { modifier }, null, null);

         Console.WriteLine("Value after call: {0}", arguments[0]);

But how can I pass NULL? Using 'null' or Type.Missing give me type

WPF Toolkit Calendar, Blackout Dates, DataTemplate, Binding, MVVM

I am building an application using the MVVM model and I'd like to bind a calendar's "BlackoutDates" collection. I found this interesting piece of code which shows how to achieve this binding through an Attached Property. I am using the WPF ToolKit at codeplex.

However as I understand it, I need to bind to a "CalendarBlackoutDatesCollection" property. Ideally, this property would be in my ViewModel so that i can use {Binding BlackoutDates} however, the constructor for CalendarBlackoutDatesCollection has to specify the "owner", or the calendar that will receive this collection, which my ViewModel doesn't know about.

The calendar is actually part of a DataTemplate so I can't just name it and reference it directly. I'm saying this because I tried a workaround solution through events in the code behind file. The simplest of my scenario involves 2 calendars in the same data item (a "from" and a "to" calendar). When the user clicks on a "From" date, then all prior dates are blacked out in the "To" calendar to prevent the user from entering a time range backwards. The same applies if a user selects a "To" date - anything after that

WPF / Silverlight tutorial: Visibility property and binding

Visibility property is a very powerful and yet often overlooked property available in both WPF and Silverlight. It enables you to set Visibility of certain UIElement objects to different states like: Visible, Collapsed and Hidden (not supported by Silverlight). This tutorial shows you how to use it and how to bind to Visibility property

Reuse a gridview within calendar control

Hello, I have a calendar control that will have events displayed within each cell.

I want to use a pre formatted gridview and simply bind the gridview with a dataset dynamically and display it within the cell of the specified day.

Is there a way to do that or do I have to dynamically build a gridview for every day that there is an event?

So here is the template gridview and datasource:

 <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlcalitemtemp" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:NNTrainingdbconnection %>"
        SelectCommand="SELECT NN_Fire_Events.Start_Time, NN_Fire_Events.End_Time, tblNN_Fire_Cli

Binding Nested Listviews in MVC ViewPage

I am a longtime .NET developer but for big applications and services.  This is my first asp.net project and I have chosen MVC.   I have a need for nesting a ListView within a ListView.  In this simple catalog app, I have EF 4 Entities that are Categories, SubCategories, ItemTypes, and Items.

My goal is to display a 5 column layout of SubCategories with their ItemTypes below them in a ViewPage.  I did just fine with it done out in C# as server directives such as:

    var subcats = Model.SubCategory.ToArray();
    var nrSubCats = subcats.Count();
    var rows = (nrSubCats/5) + (((nrSubCats % 5) > 0) ? 1 : 0);
    for (var row = 0; row < rows; row++)
    { %>
        <div style="width: 100%; float: left; clear: right;">
        var start = row * 5;
        for (var i = start; (i < start + 5) && (i < nrSubCats); i++)
        var subcat = subcats[i];
            <div style="float: left; clear: right; width: 20%; margin-left: 5;">
                <h2> <%:subcat.Name%></h2>
                    foreach (var its in subcat.ItemType)

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

Users getting logged out because HttpContext.Current is null

We've  been trying to fix this one for a couple years, and I'm just out of ideas, so any help is really appreciated!

We've got a fairly large, complex web application that uses Forms Authentication to authenticate users.  Throughout the application we store and retrieve information about users in the Session object, and in some cases in cookies.  In a couple places we check for the existence of the context, and if it's null we send the user back to the login page to re-establish the session.

Just a quick run-down of this web app: C#, .NET 3.5, IIS 6, ASP.NET State Service to manage session

As for the session timer, we use our own home-grown timer, which is basically a client-side timer, which is backed up by a check to the SQL database to see when their last activity was.  This seems to work well for us.  It's not perfect, but it allows us to notify the user before the session times out, and allows us to be certain we're not logging a user out before their 60 minutes of inactivity is up.

What's happening is that certain users are being logged out after just a few minutes.  We've eliminated the timer as a cause and believe what's happening is the HttpContext.Current is null, so the user is logged out.  We do not know why the HttpContext.Current is null, and I underst
