I received a request frm a group here and wanted to run it by the forum just to affirm what I'm thinknig already.
They would like to create a cluster, which in and of itself is no big deal. How they want to is another matter. They currently have a box they want to use as a primary node. They want to install SQL Server on that box. But then they want to create the cluster.
But the shared storage is not available yet.
I told them there's no way to create a cluster without the quorum being there which will be on the shared storage. Actually, they could create the quorum on a local disk, but why????
Eventually this wil be a two node cluster. To me it makes no sense to even try to install a cluster without having the shared storage attached, even if there's only one node in the cluster. It would just be a messy undertaking from my opinion...
