Scheduling a Job and using Package Configurations

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

All of my SSIS packages use Package configurations. I have built a wrapper package that  runs my Daily Data Warehouse process.

In that wrapper package there are many Execute  package tasks that execute the various SSIS packages within my Data Warehouse process (all which use Package Configurations). My question is when I create a scheduled job in the SQL Server Agent for the wrapper package do I need to define only the Package Configuration for the wrapper package. Will each individual Execute Package tasks use its defined package configuration even though it is not part of the job I have created in the SQL Server Agent?

Using Foreach loop Container in SSIS 2005 package and scheduling the package using SQL job on 64-bit

I've an SSIS package 2005 which uses a for each loop container, this package runs fine when I run it on the local machine . My server is 64 bit SQL 2005 and I 've successfully deployed my package on the server both to the File system and SQL server. I've also set Run64bitruntime to false in my pacakge. Now I need schedule the package using SQL job. Since Microsoft Jet Provider 4.0 is not available for 64 bit, I had to write script to schedule the package. Here is my script. declare   @ssisstr varchar(8000) declare @returncode int set   @ssisstr = 'dtexec /sq Package1 /DE 123' EXEC   @returncode = xp_cmdshell @ssisstr select   @returncode I'm getting the following error when I execute the job. Could not load package "Package1" because of error 0xC0010014. Description: One or more error occurred. There should be more specific errors preceding this one that explains the details of the errors. This message is used as a return value from functions that encounter errors. I'm getting the same error if I run this from commandline. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. PARC

Deploying SSIS Package configurations in production and development

I'm working on a SSIS package which I want to deploy onto our development environment on a daily basis as I work on it. In addition, I want it to be easy to deploy to production. We're using xml configuration files for our packages, but I haven't seen anyone discuss the entire development process.

Do people keep their production and development configuration files in source control? If so, how? Are they part of your BIDS SSIS project? I tried adding them to "Miscellaneous". i.e. Example:

I have a project with the following SSIS Packages in it:

In the Miscellaneous folder I have:

I did this so I can keep them in source control. We don't use package deployment utilities, we just deploy by hand, but putting the files in Miscellaneous breaks the building of the deployment utilities because it attempts to copy the config files into the Deployment directory twice.

In addition, I set up the package configurations such that the

Run a package for multiple servers (configurations)

I have a package that collects information from an SQL Server about the databases on that server. I store this information in a table from where I can create graphs (for example the disk usage, etc.). Now I would like to run this package for about 20 servers. The only difference in the package is the connection of the source DB. What would be the easiest way to do this:

1. Build a loop in the package that runs 20 times and putting the server name in a variable

2. Set package configurations that it runs 20 times with every time a different value for the server of the read db component (is that even possible??)

3. Another option that I don't know of yet?

Scheduling ssis package database 2000

Hi Team,

can i schedule a ssis package which is developed on 2000 database?

I have a sql server 2000 server and i am accessing this database using 2005 in another machine and developed a ssis package can i schedule this package?

One SSIS package - multiple configurations?

I'm looking for a basic guideline/best practices for creating an SSIS setup involving one "master" package called with one variable that will link it to a set of configurations based on that variable. Currently we create a new package for each client, each with their own configuration. Now each package is basically the same but we create an entirely new package file for each customer. There are variables that are of the YES/NO variety to enable/disable specific functions based on client need. As it is now, if we improve the package (a new version if you will) we have to go back to all prior packages to update and make the adjustment. These can be anything from a small SQL code change to an entirely new container of tasks. Either way, you get the idea, this is very inefficient and I am attempting to standardize our packages and process. If anyone could post a few links or point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Problems posting to a package

Hey Y'all

I'm currently creating a program that accesses a mysql package to add data to a few tables.  I'm currently getting an error that says  "

ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 42
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 177
ORA-06512: at line 1

These lines are

and 177:add_team_members(V_PROJECT_ID, V_START_DATE, v_FISC_YEAR, V_MEMBERS ,V_NUM_MEMBERS,'add');

Checking these variables in my asp.net page they are all receiving parameters.

Is there a  way to see what the database is actually receiving from the asp.net page?

Or is there another thing to be looking at?

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

From a developer's perspective, once a database's schema has been defined and the tables, stored procedures, and other database objects have been created, it can be forgotten, abstracted away into the data access layer of the application's architecture.

How to create WSP or Package for workflow in Share Point 2007?

I am working on SharePoint 2007. I have created 2 List called "Config List" (this is a list) and "Vacation Form" (this is form library & form designed in infopath). I have also created a workflow on form library "Vacation Form" in Share Point Designer 2007.

With the use of this workflow I am creating some task and updating "Vacation Form".

Now I want to deploy these three thing (Config List, Vacation Form & workflow) on other server.

How do I create a package or WSP file to install these things on different server.

The language-neutral solution package was not found.

Hope I might be able to find some help on this one...

I developed a simple web part which posts HTML form contents to a SharePoint list - on first deploy, it worked fine, using the Web Part project base from VSeWSS 1.1, but after deployment, I noticed I fat fingered a url for redirection, and went back in to change it. Now, on deployment I get the following error:

Scheduling Workflow

For WSS 3.0, I have a couple of sites that need to send emails based upon the comparison of today and a due date.  What I thought I would create an SPD workflow that would run nightly and compare the due date on all items on the list and if within the 'reminder' threshold, send out an email reminding the assignees of the task.  I thought this until I realized you can't schedule the workflow to run nightly, for example.

How best do I accomplish this? I need to do this a lot so if there is a way to implement the triggering of the workflow in a more universal manner that would be great!

Thank you in advance for your help!

.Net Framework zip package file

Has anyone idea about .net package files?? I seriously have no clue about this & have asked to do a POC on this. I am told that this feature has come up along with .Net Framework 3.5 but couldn't find any pointer after googling even. It would be great if somebody can explain this & its usage??

Execute Package Task password issue

I have a parent and child package. Both are stored on the file system and both are password protected. My problem is that when I call the child package from the parent using execute package task, I get prompted for the child package's password. Now the PackagePassword property of the Execute Package Task is supposed to take care of that. But for some reason the password stored in the Execute Package Task is not getting passed to the child package.  I've re-entered the PackPassword property several times, but it did not help.  I even tried loading the password from a config file, but that did not make any difference.  Can anyone help?
