SharePoint Workspace - How to configure Account?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Have just installed Office 2010 Pro with SharePoint Workspace on a WinXP SP3 box (Yeah, I know.  Will update to Win7 soon.)  Never had "Groove", or any other SharePoint client on this system.
Want to be able to join existing P2P Workspace that was created with Groove.

I get through initial start-up (splash screen) and the small "Create Account/Creating account" animation, then...

Get the "Account Configuration Wizard" screen
Choose "New Account"
Choose "Next"
Next screen populates automatically with my DOMAIN credentials and email address, then...
the application exits within 1-3 seconds!

No error message, and Security Event Log shows normal application shutdown.

Have already done an un-/re-install of SharePoint Workspace via "Add/Remove Program - Change"

Any help woould be appreciated.

Central Administration no longer accessible by any account after changing Farm Account in SharePoint

I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. I was running installation of Sharepoint 2010 Server with administrative account ImTheAdmin, who is a Domain Admin in the MYDOMAIN domain. Using ImTheAdmin I installed Sharepoint 2010 on one of the Windows 2008 R2 member servers. Besides that, I made ImTheAdmin the primary administrator of the Sharepoint. ImTheAdmin became the only user of this Sharepoint 2010 server after installation.  I installed everything on one box with default installation settings. I used builtin SQL server, not Standard or Enterprise. What then happened is: Using ImTheAdmin account, I opened Central Administration Website, and it said, that I need to change the Farm Account, as the account for Farm was the default one (I think it was network service). So I created a regular domain user in AD Users and Computers called MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount. Then using IE, I went to the Central Administration Website page, which is meant for changing farm account usernames. I put in MYDOMAIN\SPFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pressed Change. Browser worked for a while, and after that nothing seemed to work. Neither my Sharepoint, nor Central Administration website. When going to Central Administra

I thought, Windows 2000 is long gone, so I didn't pay much attention, I think everywhere the account SID is important. I don't know if that is the real problem with my failure later, but it might be one of the reasons. I put MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pre

Accessing SharePoint Workspace through Windows Explorer and Office applications

SharePoint Workspace very slow

Hi. We are using SharePoint Workspace to connect to SharePoint 2007 (via the old Groove Workspace). We have a document library with 496 Files and 254 Folders mapped to our workspace. But simple actions with Workspace, such as scrolling through the folders, or even just dragging the Workspace window to another part of my desktop causes it to freeze and think for a few seconds before responding again. We have a customer using Workspace with many more files and folders and the delay is far worse to the point it is almost unusable. Has anyone else experienced this issue?Myles Jeffery | Thinkscape | SharePoint Online Deployment | SharePoint Online File Migration Tool

SharePoint Workspace 2010 Crashing

Hello, I recently updgraded to Office 2010.  All applications work as intended, however SharePoint Workspace Crashes everything I try and run it. When I start the app, a dialogue opens up stating that it's creating account..., then the Account Configuration Wizard opens.  If I do anything at this point the app crashes.  I've tried stopping all FW, AV, etc and running the app again.  Same issue.  Any advice would be appreciated! I am running: Windows XP Professional (2002), SP 3 MS Office Professional Plus 2010, Version 14.0.4760.1000 (32-bit)   Thanks!

Meeting Workspace unusable after SharePoint upgrade to 2010

Hello, We recently took a content database from MOSS 2007 and attached it to a SharePoint 2010 farm that uses a different DNS name. Now, there's a user who had a recurring meeting configured in Outlook 2010 with a meeting workspace  who can no longer use the workspace now that it only exists on SharePoint 2010. She tried removing the link to the old workspace from her recurring meeting and adding a new location using the new URL, but she gets a message saying a workspace already exists at the site. Obviously it does, but the meeting in Outlook is the same meeting. Is there any way to re-connect the Outlook meeting with the meeting workspace that exists on the new SharePoint 2010 server? Thanks.

Sharepoint site collections accessible only by system account

I I have setup a VM to start palying with SP development, everything running under administrator (sql, sharepoint services....). After succefully creating the root on port 80 and a couple of site collections, whenever I shoot IE http://mymoss or any othe site collection, I go right away to the web site without the usual authentification dialog box. On the right jand side, I see I am logged in as "System account". When I try to "sign in as a different user", enter domain\administrator, who is owner, the dialog box just keeps coming back and I can not log. . Thanks in advance

General question steps to configure mysites in SharePoint 2010

I am trying to configure the mysite web application, so I have created a DNS record "mysite" and created a web application for the mysite and created a mysite host site collection on it. Now I have read somewhere that u have to create managed paths for the profile and the mysite, which actually corresponds with the name of the DNS record/mysite webapp. For some reason when i am opening the mysite, i get a url something like http://my/my. What am i doing wrong? Can somebody just give me a step by step approach on how to configure Mysites in MOSS 2010?I am a SharePoint Infrastructure Engineer, focussed on Administration and Installation of SharePoint Server environments.

Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. Outlook Meeting changes not being made in linked Sharepoint Meeting Workspace. Why?

Changes made (meeting time and location) in outlook meeting not being reflected in the linked sharepoint meeting workspace.  Sending changes results in emails to attendees being returned as undeliverable and no changes on the sharepoint side. Looking for ideas as to what may be causing the problem.
