Alerts not working in explorer view

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello all. Alerts are not being triggered when renaming a file in Explorer view. They work when a new file is created.

Is this expected behaviour or is there a fix.

We are using SP 2007

Thanks

Explorer View within Sharepoint 2007/IE7 stops working when activating an Office 2010 install.

Has anyone else experience this issue:

Office 2010 is installed on a machine with IE7 running on it.

Explorer view within Sharepoint 2007 and IE7 works fine

Office 2010 requires a product key change from a temporary key from the initial install to a permenant key.

The permenant key is installed and suddenly Explorer view within Shrepoint stops working?

"Date Modified" not working in Explorer View if document is created in Explorer View

Windows 7 SP1 with Webclient (webdav), Office 2010 Professional Plus, connects to a Sharepoint 2010 Document Library, using Explorer View, mapped to a disc drive letter. Document library has check out requirement turned off.

Customers work only in Windows Explorer with Webclient, they dont want to use web interface to Sharepoint.

Information to recreate the problem:

CASE1) Let's say a new docx document is created in Explorer View (in Explorer by  right-click-new Word document). Customer waits couple of minutes, enters and changes the document in Explorer View, and then saves it and closes Word. Result: Column "Date Modified" in Explorer view is unchanged, when it should have been changed. (!)

CASE2) Let's say I created new docx document in Web View (all documents view). Customer waits couple of minutes, enters the same document IN EXPLORER VIEW, changes it and then saves it and closes Word. Result: Column "Date Modified" in Explorer view is CHANGED to the new save time so now it works!

Why is this happening and is there any fix for this. Is this problem of WebDAV or of Sharepoint? It happends with .docx and .xlsx files, and not with .txt files and some othes which work correct when created in Explorer View.

Also when I copy/paste to Explorer View , column Date

CSS font is working in FireFox but not in Internet Explorer 8.0

Hi All, I tried a lot but I could not figure out why the IE is not taking font size and name in to effect from CSS. In firefox my website could be seen very nice but in IE it is little bit unshiny and font size is bigger For the difference which I am talking about could be seen  if your PC have both firefox and IE installed. Please go to http://www.nymidtowndentistry.com open it in FF and IE and you could see the font and alignment related change. All these settings are in body element of CSS. Do you any idea regarding this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. -Hitesh

Can not copy: The file exists. (Explorer View)

Hello Community,               I used to copy bunch of files from windows explorer to sharepoint 2007 document library in its explorer view. But now I could not. It gives me error "Can not copy xyz: The file exists". The files does not exists already.             I also created many different new files [Different Name/Different File Type] and copy to server but still no luck. I have logged in to SharePoint with Admin Account and verified that no such file already exists.             I have the many machines and using Windows XP and Windows 7. For Windows 7 I never found the problem and Windows XP [with IE 6] if I use normal user for windows logon [Normal user have the “Full Control” permission in SP] I cannot use drag and drop files. It shows the error message “Cannot copy file <filename> The file exists”. For “My Network Places” I created and point to document libraries such as http://serversite/Docs [“Docs” It’s a document libraries list] but no luck. I tried from multiple Windows XP workstations and It works in few but cannot make out any differences between these machines.          &n

Hi Everyone, Suppose I have a document library which can be opened using the explorer view, what happened if someone uploads to this library by drag n drop into the library with same filename? What would be the final story of the file which is overwritten through drag n drop from Explorer view ? Thanks./* Infrastructure Support Engineer */

Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. Drag drop functinality not working on Explore View control for file containing special characters in

We have created a control which uses explorer view control for file drag and drop. This functinality works fine for a file having filename without special characters but it gives an error if we drag and drop a file having special characters in the file name. The reason for this is Sharepoint uses WebDAV protocol for file transfer to the Sharepoint document library and WebDAV protocol has limitation that it does'nt accept file with special characters. Please let me know the way how I can accomplish drag and drop of file with special characters in file name, onto Explorer View control with WebDAV.

WSS 3.0 Alerts Not Working For All Sites

I have a fresh WSS3.0 installation in Windows Server 2008.  Alerts aren't working the way they're supposed to.  When I go to create an alert, I get an an e-mail alert that the alert has been created.  However, when I make updates to the task or add announcements, I don't get any alerts at all. Immediate alerts are obviously working, however they don't work after the alert is created. Where should I look?

SharePoint Users Behind a Forefront TMG Server Cannot Access Explorer View in Document Libraries

SharePoint server via a Forefront TMG server in a separate sub-domain. These users cannot access Explorer View in Document Libraries nor can they map a drive to the SharePoint directory structure, as users who are in the same sub-domain as the SharePoint server can. How do I setup SharePoint and the TMG server so that these users can map a drive to the SharePoint site? Office SharePoint 2007 SP2 Windows 2008 Server SP2
