Error:

System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

 at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPGlobal.HandleUnauthorizedAccessException(UnauthorizedAccessException ex)

Resolution Steps (there could be various causes for this error but this solution worked for me):

- Run Administrative Tools > Sharepoint Central Administration

- Go to Application Management > Sharepoint Site Management > Site Collection Administrations

- Check if your name (the person configuring sharepoint) is primary or secondary administration

I'm having issues figuring out how to get my application set up properly so it will authentiate correctly.  I need to be able to use windows authentication (all access is internal to the domain) so that the user's credentials will be used to access an external resource.  I've looked at the dcomcnfg but am now sure what needs the access updated.  The com object that I"m attempting to use isn't listed there so I'm guessing there is something else I need to update.  The server is Win2k3.  Here's the error from the event viewer and the error from the page:

"Microsoft.SharePoint Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"

Hi,

I am adding an item to a list programatically. The credential under which the code runs has contribute permission to list. When the code is executed, it adds the item to the list with below exception. I guess, after adding the item to the list it calls SetListProps method where it throws exception. Any one can help why it is? Because of this my code is not moving ahead as it breaks here because of this exception

Microsoft.SharePoint Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPGlobal.HandleUnauthorizedAccessException(UnauthorizedAccessException ex) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.SetListProps(String bstrUrl, String bstrListName, Boolean bMigrate) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPList.Update(Boolean bFromMigration) at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPList.Update()

However, if I give full control it works fine.

Also, with the same credential, a new item can be added to the list with out any issue from the front end.

Thanks you

Vasantha

'schema.AllCategories' threw an exception of type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException

We're porting a solution from 2007 to 2010 and we're having trouble accessing the CrawledProperties property from the Schema object. Other properties from the Schema object however are accessible (e.g. AllManagedProperties). It does not matter whether we use the obsolete SearchContext to create the Schema object, or the new SearchServiceApplication (Example code from Steve Curran here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010programming/thread/2550e6e8-34a6-4012-969f-9657dc526d74) Now what's interesting is that the SAME user (Farm administrator) can access the AllCategories using a Windows Forms application, but when using a SharePoint solution (Codebehind on an application page) it doesn't work. We have double-checked that the executing user is the same. The same user can also browse the CrawledProperties using the Central Admin UI. We're experiencing this on several server installations, one of which is the "Standalone" installation of Search Server Express 2010, whereas the same user was used to perform the installation. I'd appreciate any ideas you might have.

Error: 5123 CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.)

 HI ,

 This is a problem I encountered when I had to detach a database file (type .mdf):

 1) I went to the MS SQL Management Server Studi and detached my database file successfully from a connection called Workhorse.

2) I needed to place the .mdf database file into a zip file in order to put it on a remote server. I did this using Shared Portal.  This was also successful

3) However when I tried reattaching the database file, I got this error:

CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file "C\Program Files\MSSQL Server\MSSQL\Data\<databasename>.mdf'

Q) The database file and log file (ldf) exist in the correct directory so I don't know what happened. Can any one help?

 Thanks much

Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

crReportDocument.Load(Server.MapPath("Project.rpt"));

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??

"Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content"

Our search is not working. The crawl log indicates following error: "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)".

If I check the event viewer, it indicates following error: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"

My default content access account is another one than this NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The content access account password is correct. Apparently this content access account is translated to the NETWORK SERVICE account upon a crawl. And this network service account doesn't has the appropriate rights on database level. How can I fix this?

Access Denied with SPControlMode.New and RunWithElevatedPriviliges

I am trying to add MultipleLookupField to a webpart I am developing. It works fine as long as the user has Add permission on the list it points to: here is the code:

private MultipleLookupField _multiplelookupKeywords = new MultipleLookupField();
protected override void CreateChildControls()
{
Guid guidSite = SPContext.Current.Site.ID;
Guid guidWeb = SPContext.Current.Web.ID;
SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
{
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(guidSite))
    {
        using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(guidWeb))
        {
  SPList listTest;
  listTest = web.Lists[ListName];
  _multiplelookupKeywords.ListId = listTest.ID;
                _multiplelookupKeywords.ControlMode = SPControlMode.New; //Changing this to SPControlMode.Display works fine
                _multiplelookupKeywords.RenderContext = SPContext.GetContext(web);
