XML is becoming the ubiquitous data format on the Web, and XML support in SQL Server is evolving to meet the additional demand. Using XML, SOAP, HTTP, and SQL Server, you can now build powerful Web Services easily. To show just how simple it is with SQLXML 3.0, this article walks the reader through the process step by step, from setting up a virtual directory enabling data access via HTTP to executing queries and building Web Services. Finally, the author illustrates the creation of two Web Services clients-one with C# that works with the Microsoft .NET Framework and one with the SOAP Toolkit 2.0 for anyone still using earlier development tools.

I would like to show a value in a KPI and I wonder if there's a way to have a list or something simple where ONE value can be inputted and possibly overwritten (using versioning for history) and that value is updated so the KPI indicates the updated value.
Normally this value will be updated daily.
I checked out
Last list value as KPI and it says that it can't be done. I don't know if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations for this. I know that they want a history of this and they are currently referencing it in an excel spreadsheet that
is linking and the Excel Services is running but seems to be having trouble.
The Values today are: 8
The above information would be updated daily and there only needs to be ONE value put in to do that update. Is there something I could do out of the box (I don't do programming, but I do have SharePoint Designer). For me, if a user inputs the
value in a custom list, how do I have the KPI reference the LAST item, instead of a sum or max, or min.? Is there a way to have only ONE item in the list that overwrites the other, without having to edit it? I know views show that, if you
I get a message that x_login is not declared. I added Dim login as String = "123", but that didn't help. What's the problem?
Dim Login = "123"
x_login.Value = loginID

I am confused as i have setup values for the filter criteria for company as 'JTWO' & 'STOC' in design mode of report builder however when i access the report from report manager the values that prompted @ runtime are AARFT05F and ARRTUEID'.
any reason why report builder should change the filter criteria @ runtime.
I am frustrated with this challenge for populating default values for filters in report builder. Here are the steps that I am performing.
I have clicked on the filter icon, then dragged the dimension to the filter pane, switched the properties to Prompt and changed the operator to 'in this list'.
by default the value selected is 'no value selected', Microsoft online tutorials says that this should automatically populate the filter criteria with the default list of values for the underlying dimension. However it dosen't
How do I populate this filter with default list of values.
I am probably missing something obvious here; -
I have created a package with a variable named; - ServerName and a value of 'KIERAN-PC'
I exported this variable as an SSIS configuration within a SQL Server table
I noticed the following record appeared within the SQL Server configuration table.
I am using vb.net (Visual Studio 2008 with framework 3.5). I have a server that exposes several services requiring sessions. I am using wsHttpBinding for all. One of my requirements is to allow non-dot net third parties to access these services. When a
client connects to a service and then some time later the server goes away, the state of the connection is still reporting "open".
Currently I have implemented a "ping" function on the server. My client calls this function every 5 to 10 seconds and if the server does shutdown, I get alerted with an exception error. This works, but I was wondering if there is a way where I don't
have to call my ping function?
I don't want to use a dual connection binding and I was hoping to use the connection state variable? But, I don't know how to get it to update by itself. The client user application could just wait until it goes to invoke a service method, but I was wondering
if there was another way.
Thanks in advance!!
"data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\subi.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"
But i am not able to insert values into the table..
am getting sqlexception error.... and msg as invalid object name "staff" as staff is my table name.. before this i had some problem with connection then i cleared that problem then after that this problem occured..
plz guide me on this ... i need to complete my project as soon as possible
Currently running merge replication on SQL Server 2008 10.0.1600 and I have a few questions around the correct procedures for adding and modifying triggers on published articles. I've searched through the MSDN site and googled this but have
not found any definitive information on correct procecdures.
1) When a new trigger is added to a published table do we just have to rerun the snapshot and then re-syncy the subscribers? Just adding them does not seem to replicate them to subscribers.
2) When an existing trigger is modified should ALTER TRIGGER be used or should the trigger be dropped and then re-added?

We have a replicated table that had 1 trigger on it when it was added to the publication. That trigger was replicated. We have since added a 2nd trigger to the table and it is not being replicated to our other server. I've checked the Article
Properties and Copy User Triggers is set to TRUE. The only difference is the new trigger has NOT FOR REPLICATION in it, but I thought that would only keep it from being executed if a row is effected by the MERGE process.
We have rerun the snapshot and are syncing continuosly and the trigger does not replicate. Do I have to drop the tablefrom the publication and then re-add it? Am I missing something?
I have created a Trial balance report using report builder and have setup runtime filter parameters for GL description. I would like to populate runtime filter parameter with values from the GL master table (GL00100) enableing users
to select values from the drop down list.
How can i acheive this task?
