How to Connect to Oracle 11g release 2

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I want use SSIS 2008 to transfer data between MS-SQL and Oracle. I had installed the newest ODAC on my Windows 7 Ultima 64 bit.

Now I create a new project of Integration Service and new a datasource.

I use wizard to create datasource.

In provider, I choose " Oracle Provider for OLE DB "

In Server or file name column, I typed  " 123.123.123.123:1521/orcl.myDomain.com "

and specific the username and password,

when I press Test Connection button, the system told me it test connection succeeded !

but I press OK button, the system tod me  " The given path's fo0rmat is not supported "

It look like the SSIS did not support this kind of name to save.

Can anybody help me ?

By the way, Can I use " SYS " to login Oracle, and how can I setip ?

Thanks.

ASP.Net connect to Oracle.

 We have an application which uses  'System.Data.OracleClient'. On the box it was developed we can change the TNSNAMES.ORA entries to connect to different oracle databases. Moving the code to a  Microsoft Server 2008 box it would appear that the application ignores the TNSNAMES.ORA file. It has cached the first Oracle connection and will now work without any TNSNAMES.ORA file. Where is it getting the connection? We have set tns_admin to point at the TNSNAMES.ORA file. We can tnsping the connection OK.

When we send a (https://) request we are getting an error as shown below: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occured on a send. We are unable to do any code change on web services code as we have only the wsdl files. Tried Timeout related procedures which didnt work out. One more thing noticed is the .NET program connect to a http:// web url but not to https://. Is this a https:// issue with .NET application?   Kindly help with any inputs

BIDS Connection Manager Cannot Connect to Remote Oracle Db

Hi All,
I'm not having much luck getting an 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' remote connection in connection manager to work when creating an SSIS package in BIDS.

I've covered off all the steps in the following link
http://www.artisconsulting.com/blogs/greggalloway/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=11

The local machine is running SQL 2005 Sp2 Enterprise Edition on W2003 Sp2 Standard Edition X64

Using the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant' I can connect successfully to the remote service

I'm using ODAC 10g Release 2.

The steps to reproduce the error are as follows

1. in BIDS after creating an SSIS Solution
2. Right click in the  Connection Manager and select new OLE DB Connection
3. Click 'New'
4. Select 'Oracle provider for OLE DB'
5. Under server I enter the service name that I created in the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant'
6. Enter the user name and password as I entered in the Oracle 'Net Configuration Assistant'
7. When I click 'Test Connection' I get the following error

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-12154: TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified

I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work and tried othe

        Dim identity As Integer

        Dim oradb As String = "Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=" _

           + "User Id=via;Password=fly;Connect Timeout=5"

        Dim conn As New OracleConnection(oradb)
        conn.ConnectionString = oradb
        conn.Open()

        Dim sql As String = InsertStatment
        Dim cmd As New OracleCommand(sql, conn)
        cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
        identity = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()

        conn.Close()
        conn.Dispose()

        Return identity

    End Function

but i get the following exception

The type initializer for "Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection" threw an exception

please help me knowing that i don't know anything about the machine that hosts the oracle db except the machine name,db

Connect to Oracle without DSN

I need to find a way to connect to the remote Oracle server without a DSN. There are some practical problem for accessing the server using a DSN. I need a way to connect to Oracle server like I connect to SQL Server etc. For example, in SQL server, I can connect directly with server using Servername (IP adress) + Username + Password + DB Name. Any way to connect to the Oracle server like in SQL Server we do ??

Please help me.

We donot have any 32 bit oracle client tools installed.I am able to connect to the database by using a console/windows/class library applications

When I try to simply connect to the database(open and close the connection) using either a website or a webapplication.I am getting the following different types of exceptions

Connect to Oracle using BCS?

How do I connect to Oracle using BCS?

If I use the "Add Connection" option via the add "External Content Type" and I specify ".NET Type" no items appear when I click the "Browse..." on the .NET Type Selection dialog (the label with "Assembly System"). Why is this drop-down-list empty?

I have read the How to: Connect to an Oracle Database Using Business Connectivity Services article and it mentions nothing about using SharePoint Designer or how to setup an Oracle .NET type connection. Some are even saying that only Oracle 11 works.

Can anyone assist?

SharePoint connect to Oracle Database

We are running a SharePoint 2007 farm and we have staff that want to use a dataview to connect to an Oracle Database as well as a SQL database.  The SLQ connection worked fine. When we try an Oracle Connection using a custom connection string we recieve an error retriving the list of databases.

Some of the information I have read mentions installing the Oracle Client on the SP Web Front  End servers and others do not.

Is there a way to connect to an Oracle database without installing the Oracle Cleint on the SP Web Front End servers?

I've read about using BDC, but that seems to involve having the Oracle.dll in the GAC which I believe would require the Oracle client to be installed.

How to connect Oracle Database in Microsoft Analysis Services

Hi All,

I am not able to connect oracle database from MS-Analysis Services.

All my Fact tables and Dimension tables are residing on Oracle
database.Both the Oracle database and MS Analysis Services are on the
same server.

I am working on the node and I was able to create the datasource using
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle " and the test connection also
succedded but while creating the cubes using the cube wizard it throws
error saying " Connection to the data source Failed".

Any one could help me in this regards.

What are the ways to connect the oracle DB from MS Analysis Services.

Is this problem becoz of any permission settings, how do I give permissions for the users.

Regards
Saravanavel

Cannot connect to Oracle from BIDS

I receive error ORA-12154: TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
when trying to setup a datasourec within BIDS.

Strange here is that the creation of a linked server to the same Oracle db is working, also importing data from the Oracle db works perfectly; but when saving the import as a package, I get the same error when running the package in BIDS.

I run everyting on my local workstation which is 32 bit.

Thanks for any help

Unable to connect to Oracle because MSDAORA is not registered

I am moving a simple .NET application from 32-bit windows to 64-bit windows. I already had a lot of fun setting up my connection to Oracle after installing the Oracle client 9i because it will not connect if there are parentheses in the PATH variable. So I am currently launching Visual Studio 2005 from DOS.

Using server explorer I can set up a connection to the Oracle instance and see the contents just fine.

I am connecting with OleDbConnection and send a Connection String beginning with "Provider=MSDAORA;

When I run I catch the following exception:

System.InvalidOperationException: The 'MSDAORA' provider is not registered on the local machine.

That sounds like the driver was not installed. But then why can I use the driver in Server Explorer.

SSIS connect to oracle database

In datasource designer for adding a new data source, I am attempting to connect to an oracle server. I then enter credentials and click 'test connection', and get this error.

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect indentifier specified.

I am using Oracle 11g as my framework.

The strange thing is if i use enterprise manager using 10.2.1 oracle framework, I cannot see any tables. The only way I can see tables if I go and click on "other  users" and then click on the specific user previous employees have used as their login credentials to generate an SSIS package.

I have already set up the access using enterprise manager, but ssis does not follow? Or something?

Thank you in advance.

InfoPath 2010 cannot connect to SharePoint 2010

You have installed Office 2010 beta and you are trying to connect to SharePoint 2010 from InfoPath but you get an error

could somebody give me example how I can connect to database only once if I use many models in contr

I use in my ASP.NET MVC application repository pattern and I use in controller for example 3 models:

   namespace MvcApplication1.Controllers
   {
        public class HomepageController : Controller
        {
            private IWebsitesRepository _repository_websites = new WebsitesRepository();
            private IFirmRepository _repository_firm = new FirmRepository();
            private IPhotosRepository _repository_photos = new PhotosRepository();

           ...............
       }
   }

In WebsiteRepozitory, FirmRepository and PhotosRepository classes I have:

Database1Entities _entities = new Database1Entities();

So I have 3 connections to database ? Is it wrong ? How can I solve it ?
