Restore hidden form in different Process

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

I am working on a WinForm application. It has to run as single instance and support Systray icon mode when minimized. I limited the second instance by scanning Process.GetProcessesByName. The problem is when the previous instance exists and its main form is minimized to systray (in fact it is hidden and notifyIcon is shown). I cannot show the form with ShowWindow to process' MainWindowHandle - the window is not shown. It seems that .Net Form's window has additional properties in addition to classic Win32 window. Is there some trick to do this? Thanks in advance.

Stuck during restore process, no error messages

I need to restore a solution (a webpart) from a Sharepoint 2010 backup to another Sharepoint 2010 installation on another server. In CA and exactly in the page _admin/BackupStatus.aspx I see that: A backup or restore is currently in progress. There are no current or recent backup or restore processes to show. If you recently started a backup or restore process, you may need to refresh this page after several minutes for it to appear. Hours have passed since I started the restore process In _admin/ServiceRunningJobs.aspx there is no backup/restore job running. The question is: What can I do to try again a restore if I cannot stop the restore that is "running"? Please Help.

How do I trap the minimize and maximize and restore events in a windows form?

Please help!   I can't figure out what event is fired when a user presses the minimize button on a windows form.  It doesn't appear to be in the list of event  in the events pane for the form.  Using VS2005 c#.   Thanks

Multi form Application - Restore, minimize, maximize

Hello, I have a Windows forms application with 4 forms. Only one of the forms is visible at a time. When I maximize/ resize/ reposition Form1 into State1, and then switch to Form2, Form2 is in State2. I would like to see Form2 in State1 -- that is, after switching to the second form, it should be of the same size and at the same position as the first form. Can somebody please suggest the best way for doing this?

Is it possible to use a webpage form in the workflow process instead of using a document?

We need to move our current IT work request form to sharepoint workflows.  The reason for this is because we need to be able to have an approval process for non-managers who fill out the IT work request form and then submit.  How do I get started adding a webpage to the approval process in workflows?  I'd like it to work exactly how adding a document, from the document library.  If it is possible, can someone direct me to a tutorial out there or give me some insight? Thanks, Shawn

Is there a trick to having nested hover-menus hidden correctly when entering a form.

I have nested hover-menus controls that I used to create an interactive menu.  After I use each control once, it works fine. but when I first enter the form, when I hover over the parent hovermenu, the others pop-up as well until I click on them once.  After that, each of them work fine.

What can I do to stop that from hapening

Task form fields not updating in custom task process

I have just discovered SharePoint Designer 2010’s custom task actions and I love them! Unfortunately, there are always things that do your head in. Here’s my problem...

I have a workflow associated with a Forms library that starts three custom task processes, one after another. The final task process has four task form fields, which are Yes/No (check box) site columns. When I edit the task that gets generated, select one of the check boxes, and then click Approve, the task list’s view shows that column with a “No” value instead of the expected "Yes" value.

Here are the details of the custom task action:

From Screen shots

I am the task participant and I am also the task process owner.

I see the columns when I edit the task that gets assigned to me:

Infopath Business Process via the original form or additional Tasks?

I have a form which I have created (with code behind).

There is also a business process that it needs to go through to get approval from about 6 different people with certain approver groups potentially doing additional things.

In x cases it simply just hit approve/reject to send it back to start or move on to next approver.

In 2 other cases the approver needs to approve and attach a document.

I don't want the documents stored in infopath they can be uploaded via it but I want to shift them over to a library for storage and provide a link to them.

Now I am going to have a workflow to notify the groups that they need to do something but I can't decide what is the best course of action.

If the workflow has task then I don't really want them to go to the task to do the work as I would prefer it to be generic so I can reuse it on other projects....is this just me being hopeful?

My idea so far are:

  1. The workflow uses standard task that tell them what to do and they go to the form to approve/upload files and then complete the task
  2. The workflow creates the task but no task email is generated instead they get email with link to the form where they do the work and then click submit button once approve/reject is set...which then automatically completes there task.
  3. Don't use a

Activate Form/Process menustrip or toolstrip control with Single Click

I am trying to make my form process the form activate and the ToolStrip or MenuStrip selection with a single click.  Currently, if a form does not have focus and you mouse over the ToolStrip or MenuStrip options they highlight like you can click them.  Only you have to click once to activate the form and again to activate the option you are over.  Does anyone know of a way to do this in a single click?

I have found this as a solution http://www.codeproject.com/KB/menus/UpgradeToMenuStrip.aspx?msg=2615988.  It does work however; it breaks the C++ form editor.  Is there another way to do this?

Thank You

ASP.NET Architecture - ASP.NET Worker Process - HTTP Pipleline - Http Modules and Handlers

"ASP.NET is a powerful platform for building Web applications, that provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and power for building just about any kind of Web application. Most people are familiar only with the high level frameworks like WebForms and WebServices which sit at the very top level of the ASP.NET hierarchy. In this article I'll describe the lower level aspects of ASP.NET and explain how requests move from Web Server to the ASP.NET runtime and then through the ASP.NET Http Pipeline to process requests.

SQL Server Backup and Restore (video)

Restore your full backup, then run a few queries before you keep restoring transaction logs. Brent shows how to use the Standby option for restores.

In this five minute video, Brent demonstrates how to do it by creating a database, populating data, and then showing what disaster recovery is like by doing RESTORE WITH STANDBY.

JQuery Validate plugin to validate a ASP.NET Form

The first time I used the JQuery Validate plugin, it did not work at all, see JQuery Validate odd behaviour with the ASP.NET Script Manager for reason, but perseverance and stubbornness prevailed and I finally created my first JQuery validated ASP.NET Forms contact form.

How to use getElementById to get the elements in a form

There are many ways of accessing form elements, of which the easiest is by using the cross-browser W3C DOM document.getElementById method. Before we learn more about this method, it would be useful to know something about the Document Object Model (DOM), the concept of HTML nodes or elements, and the concept of containers.

Each time you load an HTML page, the web browser generates an internal representation of the page in the form of an inverted tree structure. Let us look at a simple form. We will use this form later to demonstrate the use of the getElementById method.

Tab container rendered with visibility:hidden - This was reported over three years ago.

Here is (more) code that demonstrates the issue.  If the control in the host page is removed the tab control renders correctly.  Otherwise it is rendered with the visibility attrubute set to hidden as reported in the above link.  Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

Hidden variable has no value

I know I have a valid solution, but the js is telling me that the value in the hdnRecordSaved variable has no value!
Even when I specify in my function the following, it still tells me it has no value:
var myTextField = document.getElementById('hdnRecordSaved');

When I put the full value of the variable in (ctl00_ctl00_cphTopCenter_cphCenter_hdnRecordSaved.value), I get the correct contents back ("1"), which I set in my code behind. However, I would prefer to just put the short name in since the masterpages may change, etc. Unfortunately, I know I can get around this with VS2010, but we are using VS2008.

What am I doing wrong with the js naming conventions that can't give me the contents? Here is my below js.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMapFields" runat="server" ScrollBars="Both" Height="430px">

<telerik:RadTreeView ID="RadTreeView1" runat="server" DataTextField="Description"
