Getting a count of how many comments have been posted to an item (noteboard).

I have created a list, and added a noteboard to the DisplayForm.aspx page. The functionality works great, users can leave comments and the comments are associated with the selected item. The problem i'm having is accessing the content from the noteboard, Is there any way I could create a data view that retreives the number of comments associated with an item? The noteboard does not allow connections, so it makes it very difficult for me to send a comment count to another webpart.

Retrieve and add comments to a noteboard webpart

Hi i have a web part page where i added a note board webpart.

I am trying to add a new comment to the note board and to retrieve existing comments using the following  code from  an application page

<%@ Assembly Name="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>

Custom comments display webpart for Blog

I wrote a custom webpart to display the comments made on any post of blog (eg: <blog>/List/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=3)

Now two things:

1. Comments list does not have any post-Id, It has post-title with Lookup type. which stores complete title of post which this comment blongs to. While in URL i am getting Post ID. How may i filter the comments ?

2. How may i check that if logged in user has Admin rights ? Because I want to display "Edit" with each comment if logged in user has Admin rights.

Thanks in advance.

MS Word style comments in asp.net

I need to create a system, that will be similar to ms word style comments. So the idea is the following: on the page there are a pack of text boxes labels and so on, and user need have the way to comment each control, and save commented text, for example to DB, so the others can reed comments too.

I tried PopUpControlExtender, but it works in single way, and i cannot view all the popups in one time. Or may be i missed something and there is a way to popup all the controls at one time?

Therefore, are there any known solutions for a discribed task, based on PopUpControlExtender or something else?

Print row count on Label

I have an SP that simply performs a COUNT(*) from a table. I'm am trying to print that number in an ASP Label. It works in Query analyzer but I cant wrap my head around how to display it in a label. Any guidance much appreciated.

Count words in the ascx file

I have 163 .resx files. I want to count the words in these files, because my want to translate the sentences (my task is the localisation).

Now I'm opening each file in Ms Visual Studio and I count words manually. How can I count words in all files? And the second question: can I use a program what grab strings from .resx into an editor where I can translate them and save bacn into .resx files? Or must open the files one by one and edit the text fields manually?

Thanks for helping, unfortunately I'm not a programmer.

How to display a count of search results with keywords in a label?

Sorry for a basic post here; I am very new to VB!

I am currently building a search page, which includes a textbox and two drop-down lists, a search button, and a datagrid. If results are found and displayed, I would like a label to display:

(e.g.) "24 results found for 'blue sky clouds' "

...where the integer represents the results count, and the keywords and/or drop-down list selections are included in the string.

If no results are found I would like the label to display:

(e.g.) "No results were found that match your selection. Please try again"

I would also like the label to be invisible until a search occurs.

Thanks in advance!

XML Comments: Document Your Code in No Time At All with Macros in Visual Studio

Starting in Visual Studio 2005, XML documentation support will become available in Visual Basic and C++ as it has been for C#. C#: XML Comments Let You Build Documentation Directly From Your Visual Studio .NET Source Files

C# allows developers to embed XML comments into their source files-a useful facility, especially when more than one programmer is working on the same code. The C# parser can expand these XML tags to provide additional information and export them to an external document for further processing. This article shows how to use XML comments and explains the relevant tags. The author demonstrates how to set up your project to export your XML comments into convenient documentation for the benefit of other developers. He also shows how to use comments to generate help files.

                goButton.Text = "Go";
