Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Unable to open pdf from document library MOSS 2007

When I click on a pdf document uploaded in a document library it comes up with a blank page.

I guess it's trying to open pdf on the browser. I turned off "Display PDF in browser " option in Adobe Preferences, but it doesn't help, same issue.

I tried other browsers too, it's the same issue.

I am able to open all other pdf files local to my machine fine.

I am using IE 8 on my machine (Windows 7) and the Sharepoint server is MOSS 2007.

Unable to Edit the properties of a document using the ribbon

I have created a new web part page and added a document library to that page.  In the ribbon the "Edit Properties" icon is enabled and I can edit the document properties.

When I add another web part to the page and go back to select a document, on the ribbon the "Edit Properties" icon is no disabled.  I can still edit the document using the context menu of the document.

Permissions on the library did not change when I added the additional web part.  The only change to the page was adding an additional web part.

question on attachments/document upload in SharePoint

Scenario: I have business need where I need to attach some documents to a document library. My users fill out a form, which is a custom List Form in a list called "Request" but on the same form I want to provide my users a document upload feature which will save the document to a document library called "Request Documents".

In other words, request information such as Title, Department, Description etc get saved to "Request List" (SharePoint List) whereas the documents attached/uploaded (if there are any from the user) while filling the same request form out, get saved in the "Request Documents" (SharePoint Document Library) with the same ID #. If Request ID was 100, then the uploaded document(s) in the Document Library should also be 100.

I tried a few techniques out, and I'm reading some more on Data Source Library of SharePoint but I believe I need some help from the community before I do anything further.

Unable to upload/attach any file

We have a developing Sharepoint server with SQL Seerver 2005 standard as a db server. Eventually server stopped to accept uploading any file into any library or attaching to any list item on all application poolls and site collections. What I've checked so far: server does have anough disk space. So any idea where else to look for somthing broken/corrupted?Here is the message we getting: The URL 'WebPartTesting/LOB1.xml' is invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current Web.   at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.PutFile(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Object varFile, PutFileOpt PutFileOpt, String bstrCreatedBy, String bstrModifiedBy, Int32 iCreatedByID, Int32 iModifiedByID, Object varTimeCreated, Object varTimeLastModified, Object varProperties, String bstrCheckinComment, UInt32& pdwVirusCheckStatus, String& pVirusCheckMessage)    at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.PutFile(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Object varFile, PutFileOpt PutFileOpt, String bstrCreatedBy, String bstrModifiedBy, Int32 iCreatedByID, Int32 iModifiedByID, Object varTimeCreated, Object varTimeLastModified, Object varProperties, String bstrCheckinComment, UInt32& pdwVirusCheckStatus, String& pVirusCheckMessage) The problem appear

"This document could not be checked out" error in IE with SP2010 doc library

We created a document library in Sharepoint 2010 and configured it to require checkout. Via Internet Explorer, users click on a document in the library and choose "Check Out and Edit". They get the error message "This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already checked out or locked for editing by another user". We confirm that the document is not checked out to anyone else. The user is able to open the document Read Only from IE and then check it out in the application (for example, they can click the Check Out button in Word 2007 successfully), so the problem seems to be IE related. We have tried adding the Sharepoint site in the Trusted Sites and Local Intranet zones in IE, but it doesn't make a difference.Any suggestions? Thanks.

Unable to collaborate on document in SharePoint Workspace which has Content Type with more than look

1/ Add a new document into Shared Document library. 2/ In Shared Document of this workspace, add new content type having 12 lookup columns. 3/ Create a new workspace 4/ Add a user into the workspace with the editable permission (Contribute or Full Control). 5/ Open the document in Word 2007, in the Document Management Pane Using system account: the document is shown in the Document tab. Using normal account: the document is not shown in the Document tab. 6/ If we use Dws.GetDwsMetaData method to get information of the workspace site and lists it contains then:    + Using system account credential, this method returns the document's information in Shared Document library. Upload documents to Sharepoint 2010 Document library

Is there a way to upload documents to an SP 2010 document library with Custom Actions or Workflows?  I have a requirement of taking the contents of several directories (older data files) and uploading them to Sharepoint.  Not sure which actions actually perform this operation.  Any help most greatly appreciated.

New / Upload / Actions / Settings / View menus on a document library are hidden

I have a Document library. On the View Page (All Documents) for the Document library, I do not see the menu bar with the "New / Upload / Actions / Settings / View" menus. It looks like one of the users with owner permissions did something to cause this behavior. No custom code exists on the page. I am not sure how this menu bar can be hidden. Can someone please clarify. I am a site collection administrator.

How To "Upload a new document template" to Content Type via Web Service

I hope someone can help me. Let me begin by saying that I'm not a programmer; so I 'may' not get the terminology exactly right, but hopefully someone will know what I mean. I am using SharePoint 2010 along with a 3rd party application that I'm using for creating, managing and executing workflows.  The workflow application I'm using is Nintex Workflow 2010.  As such, I can only use functions, services, commands...etc...that are offered to me by that application. Anyway, what I am trying to do is simply replace a document template that is being used for a particular content type with another document template. For this I believe I need to use the Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument Method.  More information is provided here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/websvcwebs.webs.updatecontenttypexmldocument.aspx). The Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument method requires two parameters..."contentTypeId" and "newDocument". "contentTypeId" - I have got the Content Type ID by clicking on the content type and viewing the URL shown in my browser.  So, I am confident that my content type id is correct and is "0x010100C392CF11DE923A4E8AB9018B0A42119303". "newDocument" - The MSDN article states...'A string that represents the XML document to replace the existing XML document.".  To be honest, I'm not 100%

Web Part Error on a clean SP2010 install in Document Center

On a clean SP2010 install I created a Document Center site.On the main site page under the "Upload Document" web part there's another web part, which displays this error: Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe. [UnsafeControlException: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe.] at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.CreateWebPart(Boolean clearConnections) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.Import(SPWebPartManager manager, XmlReader reader, Boolean clearConnections, Uri webPartPageUri, SPWeb spWeb) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.SPWebPartManager.CompressWebPartNoSave(Boolean isClosed) Is this normal? Or is my installation somehow corrupted? And what is this web part and how can I register it as safe?

Unable to filter the "E-mail To" field in email enabled document library

Hi, We have setup a few email enabled docuement libraries to store emails relating to project work. Is there a way to make the "E-mail To" field in the library be filtered? It is greyed out and doesnt give you the option. The "E-mail From" and "E-mail Subject" are able to have a filter applied to them but for some reason the "E-mail To" field wont let you filter the content. The probelm is that there are over 500 files in the library and the easiest way to find messages is to be able ot filter this column in the library if it is at all possible.

ASP:Upload control . Uploading into a SharePoint Document Library Subfolder and FILE NOT FOUND error

RE: ASP:Upload control . Uploading into a SharePoint Document Library Subfolder and FILE NOT FOUND error Two Issues, apparently unrelated. I have subfolders like this /ApplicantDocuments/20 and /ApplicantDocuments/21 (where 20 and 21 are my subfolders and ApplicantDocuments is my library. 1. The below function is erroring with file not found, but I confirmed I'm sending the fully qualify path (i.e c:\test.txt) to System.IO.FileStream content = System.IO.File.Open(documentFileName, System.IO.FileMode.Open); 2. Even if it worked, looking at the code, I'm not using argument foldername.  I'm passing 20 to the argument. How can I make sure it uploads into subfolder 20 of ApplicantDocuments? Thank you.     Just testing in test environment. Will tighten code once it works.   public void UploadDocumentToSite(string foldername, string documentFileName) {      SPSite siteCollection = new SPSite("https://xxxxxx");      SPWeb web = siteCollection.OpenWeb();      //SPSite.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;      //Web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;      string Lib = "ApplicantDocuments";      SPFolder destFolder = web.GetFolder(Lib);      sendmail(documentFileName+" "+foldername);

How do I upload and overwrite document while keeping the same document properties?

I need to upload a new version of an existing Word document (same file name) while keeping the properties that have already been set in Sharepoint for the document. I can only find that the properties are either deleted or reset to default values. How do I avoid this?

I have tried both with and without versioning activated. In either case the properties are reset.

I have also tried to overwrite the document throught the web interface and through Office/Explorer. Same apply here.
