server.transfer not working in SharePoint

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have tried to use Server.Transfer to swich pages as follows,

If (user="alex" ) Response.Transfre("/MySitecollectionName/Default.aspx")

I got error saying System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The file /MySitecollectionName/Default.aspx does not exist for the above code.

Howeverthe following code works,

If (user="alex" ) Response.Transfre("/MySitecollectionName/MyCustomPage.aspx")

Does the Server.Transfer will only work with ghosted page only?

Thanks in advance,

Office Sharepoint Server Search not working but Windows Server Search is.

I am having an annoying Issue with the Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise search functionality. I cannot get the Search Centre to work, the out of the box webparts crash the page except the Searchbox when the others are closed. The event viewer shows up numerous Errors (Office Sharepoint Server - EventID 7080) returns with and the same when trying to add a search related web part (e.g. core.results, federated etc). EventID 6398 - Timer is a regular as is 7080. Details below.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

Remote connections are connected, I am not 100% on the Instance name, (how would I go about checking this?)

Also I cannot access the link to SharedServices1 - Open Shared Services Admin site (not clickable), guess it's permissions but I seem to have full site permissions, I think I need SSP-Admin to make more edits to the Search, maybe this is related :s

Both Search Servers are runnig, I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and allow the Search Centre to work.

I am running Sharepoint 2007 on SQL Server 2008.

Sharepoint Site Usage not working after virtualizing server

I just virtualized(vmware) both front and backend server for Sharepoint  2007 . The issue I'm having is that my Sharepoint Site Usage pages are no longer showing results.

I tried giving WSS_ADMIN_WPG ans WSS_WPG Full control of the logs folder but still no luck.C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS

I noticed the following 2 event id errors on my front end server

Source: Office Sharepoint Server

Event ID 7888

Office 2010 working with SharePoint 2007 Server

We have recently started migrating users to Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010 RTM.  Upon our first try at opening a word or excel doc from a sharepoint site, we found that it gives us the option of Edit or Read Only (by the way, we are using IE8 as browser).  After clicking either option and clicking ok, the word or excel program launches, but all we end up with is just a blank shell of the program....no document or spreadsheet.  Any ideas ?  Is this a compatibility issue with Office 2010 and SharePoint 2007 ??

Cannot get SSI working on Sharepoint server

Hi - my company is setting up SP.  I will be placing HTML pages on the server and I need to be able to also use SSIs and .SHTML.  You can see a test here on our regular web server:

The SHTML file displaying the virtual include:  http://prosol1.com/sharepoint/s_include.shtml

When you click on the above, the 5-column box is what is in the include file.  This this file here:  http://prosol1.com/sharepoint/include.html

I copied both the HTML and SHTML files to the Sharepoint server via Sharepoint Designer.  Then I tested them and the include is not displaying.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the SP server to work?

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.

HttpContext.Items and Server.Transfer/Execute

The problem was basically that when a Server.Transfer call was applied the script container (and also various ClientScriptProxy script embedding routines) would potentially fail to load up the specified scripts.

Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Server-Side APIs

Accessing SharePoint data in server-side solutions is one of the most common tasks that you will perform as a SharePoint developer. SharePoint 2010 also includes the new LINQ to SharePoint technology that enables you to work with SharePoint data efficiently and easily.
