I have configured different search scopes to point to different search contents on my MOSS server and had them displayed on cope dropdown menu. Everything is working great but with one issue; the selected scope from the default Search page does not
stick on the Result page.
For example, I have three scope choices available on my scope dropdown menu: scope1, scope2, and scope3. For this particular scope Display Group, I have selected "scope1" to be the default. So when I go to the main Search page, "scope1" is shown
as the default choice on the scope dropdown menu. If I select another scope from the dropdown menu (e.g., scope2) and perform a search, it takes me to the Result page showing the result of the search and also shows what I typed in in the search text
box. The problem is that although I selected "scope2" on the original page's dropdown menu, the result page's dropdown menu shows "scope1" which is the default choice and not what I selected on the original page. This behavior is confusing
to my end users who want to refine their search from the Result page but then they have to re-select "scope2" from the dropdown menu.
My question is, is there a way for me to make the selected scope choice from the original page to stick on the Result page's s

Any ideas why the search delegate control <SharePoint:DelegateControl runat="server" ControlId="SmallSearchInputBox"/> would not render anything on my portal? Actually, when I looked at the page source, I saw that delegate control
did infact render the html however it was enclosed in <div id="SearchArea" style="display:none"></div> so it is hidden.
Thanks for your help
if I’m in Site1 my search scope needs to be specified only to Site1 and when I go to Site2 my search scope needs to be specified only to site2?
My Advanced search box webpart return result from all the web appications and not just the one that it is in, i know i can create scope and spcify rules on it but i dont see an optoin of forcing
only this instance of web part to use a spific scope.
1. any way i can force it to use a scope behind the scenes instead of having the user select it.
2.i tried to use search core results web part but ASB webpart is not open to connections even though in the properties i select "Allow connection", any way to make this combination work
3.since all my web application are using the same Search service appliction, could that be the reason that the ASB is returns results from those sites as well or is it that it returns result from all the web application in the farm?
3. Is there any place on the internet where i can find documentation on all the web parts.
I have googled and binged this one with no success.
I have a dual server setup with Sp 2010 on one server and SQL 2008 on the other. I have configured search with two content sources, "People" and "Intranet". Both crawls just fine. Then I created a new scope, "Intranet" which should include the content source
Intranet. The other scope that I have is "People" which I don't have touched.
After the scopes are updated I see that the people scope contains 30000+ items which is correct. And my Intranet scope contains 130 items. Also correct. But when I search for anything with the Intranet scope I get zero results. So, I check the scopes under
site settings. There my scope Intranet contains 0 items..
So, in Central Admin my scope contains 130 items, but on the site collections settings the same scope shows 0 items. What am I doing wrong here? The people scope works fine though..

I have created a custom user property, and created metadata property and added mapping to it, still i m not able to Search in People,Please advise
I am trying this from last two days , but it does not work. I have created two scopes for FAST Search Query SSA , they appear in search center , but I am not getting any results back. I see them being fired in the FAST query log.
First one is a simple one:
New-SPEnterpriseSearchQueryScope -SearchApplication "FAST Query SSA" -Name DCO -Description "All DCO Documents" -DisplayInAdminUI 1 -ExtendedSearchFilter "ContentSource:DCO"
Content source is a managed property. and i can just query "contentsource:dco" from the text box which gives me results.
When I fire the query i see it in FAST Search query log
