Reusable Template/style for RDLC files

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi folks,

I want to create a template for RDLC files which contains the UI descriptions for tables and charts which acts as a base style/template for other rdlc files.. when I create new RDLC files i do not want to apply UI settings every time i create the RDLC file.. i jst want to do it in the template and use it for newly created RDLC files..

As the RDLC files are XML files, i thought of CSS or xsl but that is not the solution bcoz CSS and XSL work only with browser... I want to use the simillar concepts.. so if you geeks have any idea... please share it with me...

Thanks in Anticipation

More Windows 2000 UI Goodies: Extending Explorer Views by Customizing Hypertext Template Files

The Web-style interface is the default Explorer folder view for the Desktop Update in Windows 2000. The Desktop Update uses HTML-based hypertext templates to create the Web view, and you can customize these templates to include your own views and commands. This article shows you how the Explorer Web view works and how to build your own custom templates for it. You'll see how to add a command prompt and task buttons to a new folder view using HTML, script, and ActiveX controls. The shell object model and thumbnail shell extensions are also examined, then used to build a simple icon viewer for Explorer.

Is it possible to change the title bar background and the font style on default template?

Hello,

Is there any way to change the default top link /title bar picture and the fonts of the title without breaking anything in the layout/structure?

I have changed the theme to Obsedian and I would also like to change the picture of the title bar of this theme and also the font/style of the title, top link bar, menus..etc. Is there a way to do this?

Please note: I am using WSS 3.0 and I am not the Administrator of the sharepoint. I am only the site admin of some sites on this sharepoint. I can do some basic customization using SPD.

Basically, what I am trying to do is that I want to set up a sharepoint site, however I want to make it NOT look like a sharepoint site.Well I know this is possible, but for my case it might be just partially possible due to the limitation that I am not the Site collection admin and hence I do not have direct access to the server itself.

What I want is to hide most of the sharepoint links/menus/bars, etc and use my own buttons/hyperlinks etc .. for user to navigate on the sites.

Thanks in advance for your help/advices.

Rooven

In a style template, express a property in terms of the controls properties it is applied to.

Hello,   In the style template below, which works fine, I'd like to express the "Points" property in terms of the applied to controls "Width" and "Height" properties.  As you see, the "Fill" property is expressed in terms of the "Background" property the template is applied to by means of Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}".  The following does not work:   Points="0,({TemplateBinding Height} / 4)  ({TemplateBinding Width} / 12.5),({TemplateBinding Height} / 4) . . ."   Is what I'm looking for possible, all in XAML, no code/converters? <Style x:Key="FolderButton" TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="2.5" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Grid> <Polygon Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}" Stroke="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" Points="0,5 4,5 6,0 23,0 25,5 50,5 50,20 0,20"/> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate>

Gridview Template...not overriding CSS style?

I have a web application that has a CSS file for all the style in the web application.  I just added a gridview to the page, and I chose one of the predefined templates.  But the template specifications don't show up, instead my CSS styles do (for example, table background).  How can I override the CSS styles and show the actual template styles for the gridview?Thanks in advance. :)

Style Trigger or or Control Template to swap GradientStops

I have an Ellipse that is part of a UserControl.

<UserControl
 <Grid
  <Ellipse
   <Ellipse.Fill>
    <RadialGradientBrush>
     <GradientStop Color="{Binding Path=CommandBg, FallbackValue=DarkBlue}" Offset="{Binding Path=CommandGradient,FallbackValue=2}" />
     <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="0" />
    </RadialGradientBrush>
   </Ellipse.Fill>
...

The Grid Has two events:

    MouseLeftButtonDown="Grid_MouseLeftButtonDown"
    MouseLeftButtonUp="Grid_MouseLeftButtonUp"

And on the mouse down event I want to swap the GradientStop properties, and then on MouseUp, swap them back.

How can this be accomplised in XAML?

Thanks,

Bill

Request for Proposal Template: "Request Document" list not showing correct files

Hi, I've ran in to a challenge with the standard Request for Proposals (RfP) template. Due to the number of proposals we use, the huge number of documents per proposal and a need to keep historic results I have had to add folders into the "request documents" library for each RfP to reduce the number of documents shown in the list when creating an RfP and confusing users.

All works fine, however when I create a new RfP, I see additional files in the "request documents" list instead of just the folder names. It looks like it is also readin gthe contents of each foldr, but not all files are listed. Versioning is turned on for major and minor releases as default.

As I am unable to view the details of the standard new RfP page I am struggling to work out how to fix this.

Any ideas?

thanks

Reporting Services Designer (LayoutEditor) Control to edit RDLC files?

I have Visual Studio 2008, with the Business Intelligence Toolset.  I want to build a WinForm application for my group that will contain a ReportViewer object.  ReportViewer will only accept Reports from an RDLC file with the 2005 schema, not the 2008 schema.

I also want the users to be able to build and view their Reports on the fly using the tool, without Visual Studio.  It is possible to do this by manually editing the XML file, but nothing beats having a GUI.  I have found that I can include the Microsoft.ReportDesigner.LayoutEditor control in my application (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies), which allows me to create and edit RDL 2008 files on the fly, but I cannot view them with the ReportViewer.  I do not see this as an issue, because our company has a site license, and the program will not be externally distributed.

Where can I find the DLL that contains the ReportDesigner to create RDLC 2005 files?  Since I can right-click and Add a Report object in Visual Studio 2008, and it opens with the 2005 editor, I know it must be somewhere on the computer, but I could use help finding the Winform control.

Thanks,

TT Template files not proper generated in website

When I use TT files to generate code, output files within Websites ar never properly generated.

The resut is always some "Chinese character garbage", and the generated extension is always .cs (whatever the given outputextension may be)

Generating text files works fine in class libraries, MVC websites and  other "projects".

Just not in plain websites. Is this a known issue, am I forgetting some swith or doing something wrong, can or can I not fix this?

UPDATE:

It seems to be a problem with the Tangible T4 Editor,

after uninstalling this tool, it seems to work fine. However, I've lost syntax highlighting and intellisense then.

Since this is an external tool, I don't think this forum covers that scope.

WPF ComboBox Style/Template example from MSDN doesnt work if "IsEnabled"=false?

Hello!

I am using a customized look of the WPF combobox control with the help of the msdn Style and Combox Template example taken from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms752094.aspx

I copied that code and I can use the control just fine, but as soon as you set the combobox attribute "IsEnabled" to false, you always get an error warning in Visual Studio 2010 Designer view with the following message:

'System.Windows.Media.Animation.ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames' animation object cannot be used to animate property 'Foreground' because it is of incompatible type 'System.Windows.Media.Brush'.

Actually I have no idea on how to fix this error. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this error? Since its an msdn example everyone should encounter this error when disabling the control with this template example?

Thanks in advance for your help, kind regards,
Oliver

How to verify that the Web Server Extensions TEMPLATE files were updated appropriately for SP2 Langu

Hi all,

According to the http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=318D8562-58BD-4329-B1F6-F1941A38BC7F&amp;displaylang=en  download and install page, it states the following below statement.

The language-specific site templates are installed in the \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\template\number directory, where number is the Language ID for the language that you are installing. For example, the US English language pack installs to the \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\template\1033 directory. After you install a language pack, site owners and site collection administrators can create sites and site collections based on the language-specific site templates by specifying a language when they are creating a new SharePoint site or site collection.

After the install of the SP2 Language Server packs, is there a way to verify that the Web Server Extensions TEMPLATE files were updated appropriately? Is there a version number updated in the registry or other location.

Thanks, -ja

WPF ComboBox Style/Template example from MSDN "IsEnabled"=false gives designer warning/error in VS20

Ordered Lists numbering restarts in RDLC files.

1: Create SQL statement

Set @val = '

<li> 2
    <ol>    <li> 2.1 </li>    <li> 2.2 </li>    </ol>

<li> 3</li>
<li> 4</li>

Select @val

2: Create NEW rdlc file

3: Call the select statement into the report

4: set the exression to render as html

      Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

      .NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

      The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

      .ASP.NET AJAX
      .ASP.NET Dynamic Data
      .ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
      .ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
      What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:
