Get correct checked answer

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi. :)

I am still studying to become a webintegrator and this is my private project to try and learn C# better. This might be a little complicated so please just ask if you feel like it does'nt make sense.

I have a database with a table called Answers which holds AnswerID, Answer1, Answer2, Answer3 and CorrectAnswer + a table called Questions which holds QuestionID, QuestionNumber and QuestionText.

On a page i have a repeater that pulls the questions from the database and inside it i have another repeater with my 3 radiobuttons that pulls the 3 Answers from the database and are grouped so you can only check 1 of the radiobuttons as the user. See below:

                 <asp:Repeater ID="rptQuestions" runat="server">

Security Question Answer Retrieval

I know there is a method built in for retrieving the encrypted password, but how do I retrieve the encrypted security answer?

What I want to do is have a member profile update screen that the end user can update their password and security question and answer. However, when they get to this page, I want to already be showing the security question (the easy part) and its answer (the not so easy part).

I have updated web.config with passwordFormat=Encrypted and have added a machineKey with the generator (forgot the link, but located on eggheadcafe somewhere).

I haven't done ANYTHING yet, since I already have a user store with hashed information. I wanted to get some functionality done before publishing, wiping the store and recreating users (only a couple developers).

Correct me with report.setDatabaseLogon and .setDataSource

Hi All,

I was getting a load report failed error on the server before (locally it was working fine). I tried everything one of the solutions that helped me partially was adding below lines to the code.

 ext.SetDatabaseLogon("UserId", "Password","DataBaseTest","ServerName");

When I add the above Line to Local Mechine it is working fine and returning data.(Records)

But When I publish this code to server I am getting a screen that has

Server Name : Filled

DataBaseName : EMPTY

UserName :Filled

screen and I am unable to enter the databaseName.

Scenario 2:

ext.SetDatabaseLogon("UserId", "Password","DataBaseTest","ServerName");

 When I add these 2 lines to local mechine all the crystal report with heading and date is coming up but the data from the sql server is not appearing. Actually this is loading the report correctly but unable to get the data from the data base. (Not displaying any records although it is supposed to display 100 Recs)

When I deploy it to the server it is acting the same way.Displaying the record with heading , date, page number etc, but no data

Do you know what should I do to

Input string was not in a correct format.

Hi, I just started learning asp.net

How can I correct this error

Items count in scope "not available" in on WFE while it is correct in another WFE

Recently, we added a new WFE in the farm to do load balance. After installation, the search is not working occassionally(almost 50%). It apparently hits the new server. The error message:
Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.

I checked the Items count on view scopes. It is correct on old WFE, while it is "not available" on new WFE.
 In the Office Sharepoint Server Search Seveice seeting, I checked "Use this server for indexing content" and "use this server for serving search queries". I had ever tried to uncheck ""use this server for serving search queries". It is not working, either.

Any suggestion?

InfoPath form checked out so 'on create' workflow not being started

Hi all,

I have found a couple of threads asking for advice on how to check in an InfoPath form when it’s saved or submitted to a forms library. The reason for doing this is so a workflow can start based on a new item being created in that library, and so it doesn’t just sit there with a “Starting” status.

The answers I have found contradict each other:

·         You have to do it with a workflow.  This can be done easily with SharePoint Designer if that's an option for you. Source:

Can not perform this operation.The file is no longer checked out or has been deleted?

In my sharepoint designer 2007, when I try to check in a file, it give me the following errors:

Can not perform this operation.The file is no longer checked out or has been deleted.

Please advise me how to fix this problem?

ReadOnly DateTime attribute stores correct date but only retrieves DateTime.MinValue on Delete

Hey everyone,

I have a dynamic data site that stores Event data using LINQ-to-SQL. When someone requests an event, it is first stored as a PendingEvent (which is a child of Event) with a column/attribute called receivedAt, which is [ReadOnly(true)] and which is assigned in InsertEvent as shown.

        partial void InsertEvent(Event instance)
            instance.requestedAt = DateTime.Now;

This works fine. The event displays with the correct receivedAt date, and it's correct in my database. It shows up just fine on my Display, Edit, and List pages. However, if I try to delete, the receivedAt in the instance (retrieved with my debugger) in my delete function is 01/01/0001 12:00am, also known as DateTime.MinValue. My other dates appear correct.

If I remove "ReadOnly(true)" from the received at, everything works fine. Why won't "ReadOnly" allow me to have a time?
Thanks in advance,

I forgot to mention why I care. I can't submit the instance to be deleted because DateTime.MinValue is outside SQL's available datetime, so I get a SQL error. The delete also takes place in a custom dele

Disregarding updates on non-checked-in entries in a sharepoint list (SPAudit)

Hey guys.

Okay, this is a little hard to explain, as the title might suggest.

I have an event receiver on ItemUpdated and ItemCheckedIn, which both writes custom SPAuditEntries. When CheckedIn occurs though - it comes with two update entries as well (one for added file, and one for a simple update to the list item I suspect).

I'd love to get rid of these entries. At first I thought it would be really simple, just put an if in the itemUpdated event receiver, and stop everything

if(SPListItem.CheckedOut = false) { //... do nothing }

However I couldn't find any way to ascertain the checkout-status of the listitem. My next thinking was, they hit almost at exactly the same time, so I could just crawl into the auditCollection, filter down to the specific listitem, user, and time (minus a second) and delete the two entries. But, sadly I found out I couldn't delete auditentries.

Anyone got any ideas?

How to set the checkbox state "checked or not checked" from a database

while (l_objRead.Read())
                         //txtUserName.Text = l_objRead["UserName"].ToString().Trim();

Checkbox Checked

I am currently trying to write some code that allows an admin to add users to a system by selecting a checkbox and then clicking a button at the top of the screen that will allow for a mass user add.  I am new to ASP and am trying to figure out how to make the system recognize each checkbox that is checked only to add to the database.  Any ideas on where to start on this?  Thanks

SQL User Permission (No answer found by searching)

Hello all!   I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my simple question!   Previously, I've run the below script to give one user access to their db in SQL management studio but nothing else. use [someDB] -- use the real db name go sp_changedbowner 'theUser' -- use the new username go 4. Next, deny the new user "public" access to ALL databases: use master go deny VIEW any DATABASE to theUser go   However I now need to add an additional user with view on permissions to the database and can't figure out how to do it. I'm sure it's simple but my SQL knowledge is at a low level.   Many thanks, Lee.

Selecting the correct auto-generated ID associated with a given customer

I have the following two tables (among many) in an OLTP database: TABLE NAME: BusinessEntity TABLE FIELDS: BusinessEntityID, int, IDENTITY(1,1), NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY BusinessEntityType, nvarchar(10), NULL TABLE NAME: Person TABLE FIELDS: BusinessEntityID, int, NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY, FOREIGN KEY to BusinessEntity.BusinessEntityID FirstName, nvarchar(30), NULL LastName, nvarchar(30), NULL There is a 1-to-1 Identifying Relationship between the BusinessEntity and Person tables. When a new customer needs to be added to the database, I execute the following T-SQL statement: INSERT INTO BusinessEntity (BusinessEntityType) VALUES (‘Customer’); What I don’t know how to do is retrieve the value of BusinessEntity.BusinessEntityID that was automatically assigned to the new customer so I can then append it to Person.BusinessEntityID. While I know I can execute: SELECT MAX (BusinessEntityID) FROM BusinessEntity; there is no guarantee that the BusinessEntityID will be the one associated with the new customer I just added because it is possible that other new customers can be added to the BusinessEntity table by other users during the interim period between the time I execute the previously mentioned INSERT command and then SELECT command. Any help/guidance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Key.IsChecked (SMO) vs. key.Checked (SQL-DMO)

When I run my old application (written with SQL-DMO) I check if a foreignkey is checked with key.Checked. In my new application (written with SMO) I check the same thing with key.IsChecked, but in this case it always return false, even in those case where my old application returns true. Isn't key.Checked and key.IsChecked the same thing? Why do they return diffrent values?

How to Check the DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn if it's checked ?

Balloon Tooltip doesn't display at the correct position when form is maximized

Having a problem with display balloon tooltip at the right bottom of form, the balloon tooltip displays fine if form is not maximized. However, the balloon tooltip doesn't display at the correct location when form is maximized(I guess because there is no room to display it on the right bottom of screen, so it moves up a bit). Is there a way to correct it? Such as displaying the balloon tooltip box above the control with stem points to the control. It displays the tooltip box below  the control right now which might cause the issue. Any help will be great appreciated.

Script components on 64bit environments - Is there a clear answer for that?

Hello all,  I'm having an issue with a package that contains a script component. The package was originally designed in SSIS 2005, was migrated to 2008 and not to a 2008 64 bit machine. We're able to run the package in VS/32 bit mode, but it fails when we deploy the package. I was able to find a few articles out there, but not clear answer for this issue. Is it possible to run packages with scripts in 64 bit machines? The script is pretty simple, it only reads configuration from the machine.config file. Below is the error message I'm getting:     Executed as user: CITRITE\svcacct_qasqlapps.
