Patch for VS 2010 Find and Replace Dialog Growing

One of the top reported Microsoft Connect issues with VS 2010 has been an issue with the Find and Replace dialog - which grows 16px each time you use it (which is pretty annoying). The Visual Studio team recently released a patch that fixes this issue. You can download and apply it here. Hope this helps, Scott P.S. A few people reported issues installing the patch if they had an older version of the Silverlight 4 tools installed.  If you see an error message that says you need an update to Visual Studio to support Silverlight 4, you can fix it by installing the latest Silverlight 4 tools release.

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. So fine, I look into the event log and get this: Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence. An exception of type System.IO.IOException was thrown. Additional exception information: Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoi

Product / Patch installation or server upgrade required in Health Reporting area

Via PSCDiag Log I get ERR Task upgrade has failed with an unknown exception ERR Exeception: Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException: Action 4.0.14.0 of Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPIiswebsSitewssSequence Failed--->System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x80070003): The system cannot find the path specified.

Patch Information

Hi, I want to install some patches on my client server which is recommended Microsoft Windows Update. Before that I want to know that patches are affecting to sharepoint site or not and also is it safe or not? Can you please suggest me suitable way to do this? Thanks in advance. Regards, Jayashri

Cannot Connect SQLServer 2008 with the provider SQLNCLI... Is there any SQL Server 2008 patch to sup

We have a program which developed under SQL Server 2005. In the program the provider of the connect string is hard coded as "SQLNCLI". It's ok running on SQL Server 2005. Now, for some reasons, this program must run under SQL Server 2008 (x64). But our program cannot access the SQL Server. We check the reason, found that, in SQL Server 2008, SQLNCLI is changed to SQLNCLI10, this caused our program cannot run. So I want to ask, is there any patch of SQL2008, so that the legacy program can normal access SQLserver with SQLNCLI WITHOUT rebuild a new version?

Couldn't find local patch C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Blah.msp Looking for it at its source.

I get installer errors like this whenever I try to remove SQL 2005 Workstation Components or when I try to install a new named instance. In fact whatever I try to do that involves reading the installation media I get this type of missing file error. Does this indicate there a corruption in my installation media?

Unable to Validate data error after Patch

After applying the patch to our QA machines, we started getting the following errors:

Unable to validate data.

at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.EncryptOrDecryptData(Boolean fEncrypt, Byte[] buf, Byte[] modifier, Int32 start, Int32 length, IVType ivType, Boolean useValidationSymAlgo, Boolean signData)

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

webDAV not working post patch install

Hi, I installed the security patches (KB2416471 etc.) as advised which all went to plan.  I have multiple websites on the one webserver and using IIS 7's 'binding' to deliver up the correct website to users which all works post patch installs.  I use WebDAV from Expression Web 4 to publish the sites from my PC.  However post patch install I can no longer publish (connect) to the webserver using WebDAV.  I get the Expression Web message "There is no site named "<site name>"."

Has anybody else experienced this issue - any suggestions?

MSSQL 2008 SP1 install fails: A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair

When attempting to install SQL Server 2008 SP1, I get the "Setup Failure" message below, along with Error code 0x84B20001.  I did read the summary*.txt files from previous installations in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log" as mentioned in the error message; the "Final result" and "Exit message" of the previous install is "Passed", so I'm not finding an answer that way.  I have also pasted the version info below.  What would you advise?

A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair during configuration for features [SQL_DTS_Full,Connectivity_Full,SQL_SSMS_Full,SDK_Full,Tools_Legacy_Full,SQL_BIDS_Full,SQL_SSMS_Adv,SQL_PowerShell_Tools_ANS,SQL_WRITER,]. In order to apply this patch package (KB968369), you must resolve any issues with the previous operation that failed. View the summary.txt log to determine why the previous operation failed.

SharePoint Patch KB2345304

I have applied the patch to WSS 3.0 SP2 to two separate farms, a DEV and TEST environment.  After the patch is applied, reboot is done, SharePoint Technology and Config Wizard is run I run a eYE Retina Scan against it.  The TEST farm passed and Retina sees it as patched.  The DEV farm however does not, Retina still sees it as missing that patch.  Can you assist me in figuring out how I can confirm the patch is applied?  I know there is a KB article on the file versions but many of those are in a CAB file that doesn't seem to have an affect on the Retina Scans.

Any assistance or suggestions are appreciated.

Declarative Workflow not working after patch

This is for wss 3.0, this is not a MOSS implementation, the version listed is 12.0.0.6545.

I have a couple of automatic workflows. One workflow is to start automatically on create, the other starts automatically on change. If I set the first workflow to allow for manual initiation and kick it off, it works, the other workflow based on change then processes when the item is updated. However if I make the update to the item manually the second workflow does not process.

The admin did change the web app accounts from local system accounts to a domain account as I requested. This did not solve the issue. The site was recently backed-up from a host provider and migrated to an on-premise server, however everything else seems to be working appropriatley.

1. All workflows that are geared to be automatic do not work, either on created or change. They do work if manually initiated.
2. There are three workflows and all are created in SharePoint Designer, and have been reassociated since the migration

Thank you
