does not have required permissions

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am running vista home + sql express 2008 + reporting services.  I installed everything using window authetication.

Everything was working fine.  However, now when I try to go to RS http://bvp-pc/Reports_SQLEXPRESS/Pages/Folder.aspx I get an error:

User 'bvp-PC\bvp' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

Can someone point me in the right direction to fix this?  thanks

User does not have required permissions to view Report Manager on SQL 2008 r2

Hi all, We are installing SQL Server 2008 r2 onto a server, and this installation includes Reporting Services. SSRS works, I can deploy reports, use Report Manager, Report Builder, etc., all using my admin privs. The problem is when NON-ADMIN users connect to \\server\reports.  They get the following error: User 'DOMAIN\user' does not have required permissions.  Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. This error is resolved by giving the DOMAIN\user account local admin privs on the server. Granting admin privs is not a solution.  We have accountants and other non-technical people that will use Report Manager and Report Builder.  We can't just give every person admin privs on the production SQL server. I have done a lot of research on the web... I see a results involving earlier versions of SQL Server and Report Manager, but this is 2008 r2 - different webserver, etc. How can I resolve this issue?

Required Permissions for SQL Server 2005 DB and Impersonation

I have an Intranet ASP.NET WebForm application that uses Integrated Windows authenication and Impersonation (required becuase triggers are used to create audit logs) to connect to a SQL Server 2005 DB on the same box (no double hop issues). Normal users get their DB permissions via the <Domain\Domain Users AD group, which has a SQL Server login and a user created for the DB.  Everything works fine when I explictly grant the associated DB user CONTROL permissions on the DB.

However, after doing more research on the actual permissions granted via CONTROL, this seems to be way too much access.  The best decription of the CONTROL permission I found was at http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1718, which states, "This grants the equivalent to ownership over the database. The db_owner fixed database role has this permission implicitly."  However, every other DB permission combination I've tried without granting CONTROL always fails to connect to the DB.  Impersonation is working, the correct accessing Domain/User is referenced in the error message.  The approriate User in the DB is in the db_datareader and db_datawriter roles and when I explictly grant them every single permission on the DB except CONTROl they fail with a "

Creating a "my site" - permissions required

I had a problem whereby users connecting to my SharePoint site (user is authenticated with their domain account) couldn't access their 'My Site' or 'My Profile' - Access Denied errors kept occuring. It is a pretty standard installation of SharePoint, and the User Profile Service Application is fully configured and all authenticated users have permission to create a personal site. However, I found that all users (other than me as admin) could not access their personal site or profile.

After much searching about this, I found a solution was to grant all authenticated users access to "My Site" (http://server/my) site. Is this the correct thing to do? I was assuming it work by default and nothing I read suggested I had to do this. Only administrator and system account seemed to have rights the 'my' site by default.

Permissions required for "Copy..." function in "Manage Content and Structure"

Hi! I have a question...

I have created a custom permission role i sharepoint, lets call it "Creator". What List ans Site permission are needed to be able to use the "Copy..." function in sites and subsites in "Manage Content and Structure" tool in Sharepoint?

According to my tests the roles "Approve" as well as the "Manage Permissions" is required to be able to "Copy..". Why is this? Doesn't seem to have anything to do with each other.

Thank you for any hints and tips regarding this!!

What are the required Security permissions to call SAM accountmanagement over the wire, using System

I need to perform remote management on the local SAM database.  I am getting a security permission error, but can't figure out what the required permissions need to be.  My test harness works great as a locally authenticated user however the permission issue gets thrown when I am trying to connect to a remote host that isn't part of the domain.

The exception is getting thrown on the call to ValidateCredentials, which is found in the constructor for the LocalAccount class below, specifically you will see it  public LocalAccount(string Server, string User, string Password)

My test environment includes windows 7 machines that are working in a offline mode trying to connect to machines running XP, 2003 and Windows 7 that are not part of the domain.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Database permissions required for Smo.Server.NetName

Hi all,

who can explain why when i use this code:

  ServerConnection conn = ServerConnection(serverName);

  var server = new Server(conn);
  string testInstance = server.NetName

next exception is thrown:

"Caught exception in SQL Product Configuration wizard. Exception: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'
xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'
xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'"

user can connect using SQL management studio.

It will only work if i give user "SysAdmin" permission. Obviously it is too high of a permission to read server and db properties

Any help is much appreciated,

Security in .NET: The Security Infrastructure of the CLR Provides Evidence, Policy, Permissions, and

The common language runtime of the .NET Framework has its own secure execution model that isn't bound by the limitations of the operating system it's running on. In addition, unlike the old principal-based security, the CLR enforces security policy based on where code is coming from rather than who the user is. This model, called code access security, makes sense in today's environment because so much code is installed over the Internet and even a trusted user doesn't know when that code is safe.In this article, Don Box explains how code access security works in the CLR. He discusses the kinds of evidence required by policy, how permissions are granted, and how policy is enforced by the runtime.

Use DB query result to generate Jquery required lines of code

I 'm gonna query database for photo records. each record include "photo path" where imagesURL  stored in string format

 I Choses my favorite Juqery plugin to show images. Plugin needs some lines of code like below.

How could I  generate these lines

$(function() {
sleep: 2,
fade: 1
}, [
{ src: 'picture1.jpg' },
{ src: 'picture2.jpg' },
{ src: 'picture4.jpg' }

Setting permissions of a specific SharePoint workflow

We have a very simple workflow whereby an document placed in a public library (INBOX) is moved it to a private library (VERIFY) and then deleted. The workflow works correctly when someone who has access to the VERIFY library drops a record into the INBOX library.  However it does not work when the user does not have access to the VERIFY library.

I was told that I need to "set the AD group associated with a specific SharePoint workflow" but cannot find any reference to this in SPD.

MOSS 07 Installation Quirks - SSRS Connectivity & SSP Permissions

I'm new to MOSS 07 and am currently learning it.  I've done clean installs and post-install configuration a few times now and I've noticed 2 quirks associated with a fresh install.  I'm not sure what is going on or the best way to "fix" them.

1 - I install SQL 05 with SSRS prior to installing MOSS and I always check to make sure that SSRS is configured and I can connect to it in the SQL Management Studio.  Once the Default port 80 Web App is provisioned, however, I can no longer connect to SSRS via the SQL MS.  I understand that this is related to the fact that the default Web App that hosts the SSRS sites is the Default 80 Web Site and that this port is taken over by the SharePoint 80 portal.  My question is, how to handle this.  I understand that I can configure SSRS to run via SP Integration.  However, when I install SSRS 05 initially and prior to installing/configuring MOSS, should SSRS be installed under a separate Web App and Port than the Default?  Does SP Integration restore the ability to connect to SSRS via the SQL Mang. Studio?

2 - In an attempt to get used to a "production" way of doing things, I create Domain Service accounts for both installing MOSS and running the services.  My problem is with the results of using an installation account.  I call it "spinsta

Required columns on list; how can I reset them to be NOT required?

I have a user list where several fields in a sharepoint list that were originally created as required, but would now like to make them not required. I have already tried simply unchecking the required field checkbox, but that does not work. Any other ways to do this?
