SQL Server 2005 Developer on Windows 7 (32-bit)

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I've installed this version using a Windows logon configuration.  I have Administrator privileges on Windows.  Problem is, I can't open any of the default databases (AdventureWorks, etc.), and I can't make security modifications.  I can, however, open the default Report Server.  I've never experienced this before -- not even on the two previous occassions I installed this SQL Server on other computers.

Does anybody have an answer?

Thanks,

cb

SQL-Server 2005 x64 / windows server 2003 x64 crashes during file copy

Hi We are running: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard - 9.00.4294.00 (X64) Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 We have gigabit interface. Today we copied a file (using robocopy) from our databaseserver to another server (backup-server). The copy was started from the backup-server and source were specified using UNC. The copy were using about 20% of the bandwith (about 200Mbit). During the copy, sql-server reported several errors, for example: AppDomain 15 (mp.dbo[runtime].14) is marked for unload due to memory pressure. The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID 75, which had been reset for connection pooling. This error may have been caused by an earlier operation failing. Check the error logs for failed operations immediately before this error message. ***Stack Dump being sent to [PATH\SQLDump0005.txt Resource Monitor (0x1384) Worker 0x000000008000C1C0 appears to be non-yielding on Node 0. Memory freed: 0 KB. Approx CPU Used: kernel 15 ms, user 218 ms, Interval: 428541. So to me it appears that sql-server crashed during a file copy. We have 27 GB ram. With 24.5 GB dedicated to SQL-Server. The files we copied were quite large, some over 50GB. I found a similar issue about this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920739/ Do you think the issue above could be the cause of the sql-server crash? ///Patrik

ODBC connection to SQL Server 2005 Standard (on windows xp) with Windows authentication does NOT wor

I reviewed lots of postings, still could not find an answer. If I choose Windows authentication: - with TCP/IP and "Dynamically determine port" checked, I get the following error "The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection; - with Named Pipes, Server Name & Pipe Name as "VSAXAONG", I get two errors, one after the other on the same pop-up:       Connection failed  SQL State 01000  SQL Server Error 1385 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [Named Pipes] ConnectionOpen (Connect()).       Connection failed  SQL State 08001 SQL Server Error 17 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [Named Pipes] SQL Server does not exist or access denied. If I choose SQL Server authentication and fill in the password - the ODBC connection works fine. I have to say that I created two different logins on the server, one for Windows authentication, and one for SQL Server authentication - both for the same Windows user name. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.  Thank you all in advance.

I have been trying to figure out how to fix this problem for the past couple of days and I was unable to find an answer to my specific problem in the forum. My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3 on MacBook Pro, using Parallels Desktop 4.0. Every single time Windows update tries to install SQL Server 2005 SP2, it fails. I am using Business Contact Manager with Outlook 2007 and SQL Server stops randomly and I am forced to restart the software. I am not sure if it is relevant to this specific problem but I thought I would make a note of this.I have downloaded SP2 and tried to install it locally but that did not work. SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition - 32 bit Setup Failed

All, I switched computers and went to the old faithful loaded with Windows XP...but alas, still not loading. At least this time the setup did produce a Log Summary which I supplied below. Tried everything, cannot install SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 Professional

I have a legal, purchased copy of Windows 7 on my X86 computer. I have downloaded through my university a copy of SQL Server 2008 (through MSDNAA). I have tried every single post for four days to no avail to get this installed, and it is crucial for my SQL class (obviously).

Everything I do leads to ".NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation failed. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed."
To my understanding, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed by default in Windows 7. This is confirmed by the lack of installer on Microsoft websites for Windows 7, the ability to install other software such as Google Chrome that requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and the availability of .NET Framework 3.5.1 in the Windows Programs and Features.

I have tried installing SQL Server 2008 SP1, which installed successfully, as recommended by Microsoft and then running the setup program using the /PCUSource=c:\SP1 method to have it recognize the SP1, to no avail.

I made sure that all features of .NET Framework 3.5.1 were enabled in Windows Programs and Features.

Windows 7 is completely up to date.

I have tried installing Visual Studio 2008 (which successfully installed), but SQL Server would not install afterwards.

I h

SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on Vista Home Premium??

I could not install  SQL Server 2005 Developer edition on my notebook with os Vista Home Premium. I know about the SP2 thing...but before coming that point, I can not either install the SQL Server 2005...

When installing, when the database services point comes it gives an error about user thing...and then installation starts to rollback...

I check the IIS configuration from the net...And see that while activating IIS there is no option for Windows Auth. in Home Premium in Control Panel>Program...>Windows Programs.....etc....

SO ON VISTA HOME PREMIUM is SQL SERVER 2005 Dev. Edition can be installed or not?
