Copy reports to a different folder on Report Server

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

My report server has 2 folders: ProductionReports - about 50 reports AND TestReports - 0 reports

I want to copy all the reports from Production to Test. One method is to save each Prodcution .rdl then upload each one to Test and then change its datasource. This will take a long time!!!! Is there a way and can copy them all together and then go change their data source? I am hesitant to deploy the reports from VS because I don't know if the project has the correct report versions (it is not my server).

Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks!!!! Linda

Moving a Copy of SQL Report Server 2005 and Upgrade to 2008

Hello, We have SQL 2005 Report Server in a Windows 2003 64 bit server box. We want to create a copy of this report server database somewhere in the domain, so that we can access it for a different purpose. My question is, will there be any complications with this? I'm thinking about the encryption key that's needed to access the database. If we are successful with this, we might also want to upgrade to SQL 2008. Thanks for your help,   Elizabeth K.

I want to allow users to see and access only their folders and they should not be able to see others folders available on the Report Server, it is possible? If Yes, how do I do it? Thanks for your help. Regards, Suresh

Cannot Deploy Reports to Report server - Times Out

I have SQL Server 2008 Developer SP1 on XP Pro SP3 to become familiar with its capabilities.  I installed the AdventureWorks sample database and was able to generate a cube, but I have not had the same success with reports.  I am trying to publish the sample reports to Report Server, but every report fails.  The errors says that the operation timed out.  However, the data sourse appears to publish correctly.  When I go to Report Manager, the data source is in the Data Sources folder and I see the AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports folder, but it's empty.  I tried loading the rdl file from within Report Manager, but it also fails.  Eventually, it gives me an empty dialog box for a username and password, but I configured Report Services to use a built-in account so I do not have a username or password to provide.  I have been searching forums for the past week, but cannot find anyone with a similar issue. Here is the portion of the log dealing with the deployment error: library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources/AdventureWorks2008). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44

copy folder from one server to the next using xp_cmdshell

Hello, I have to copy a folder from one server to another. I would like to use xp_cmdshell to accomplish this, but I am not sure if I have to create a batch file, or if I can just embed the commands right in xp_cmdshell. My DOS knowledge is limited, so I always dread these types of tasks. Any help would be appreciated and that you all in advance :)   DaveDave SQL Developer

Now, Users wants these reports to be saved in their Private folder and public folder.

Also, I have a UI developed in .Net 3.5 from where I am calling this report builder.  In the UI, I need to show the users those reports that they have created in a drop down list. And when the user clicks on any report (that they created should) open.

Duplicate Reports in Report Server

We reorganized the look of our report server giving a hierarchy.  So we've moved reports in the report server to their appropriate directories - now if i query the back end - the reports appear duplicated on the server and are sending the subscriptions in duplicate.

I can't see the old reports' locations, they only appear in one location visually.

Bulk Copy From Datatable To SQL Server Table

 I have read the data of a excle file and captured the data into the dataset to a datatable, now that data is to be inserted into a SQL Server table using bulk copy option. I am using -

 public bool BulkEnterData(DataTable dt, string tblName)
        SqlBulkCopy bulk = new SqlBulkCopy(con);
        bulk.DestinationTableName = tblName;

        return true;

ERROR Getting-
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - The pipe has been ended.)

How to resolve the above problem or any other solution is available.

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

         Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

    HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
